We were impressed by the friendly, welcoming staff both at reception and in the dining room. The breakfast was excellent - lots of choices and all good quality food which was well prepared and attentively served. Our room was comfortable and we were pleased that the hotel was able to provide us with a room which was quiet, as we had requested. The beds were comfortable and our sleep undisturbed.

There was nothing we did not like in relation ot the hotel. Unfortunately pouring rain all weekend meant that we could not explore the grounds properly. We had planned to investigate Furness Abbey but this was not possible.

Hotel was lovely. Very comfortable room, nice bathroom. Oscars food was superb Service was very good in the restaurant.

The breakfast itself was very good. Service was bad. Although the staff appeared to know table numbers, it took three attempts before we got the correct drinks. Then on requesting a second expresso, my husband had to ask three different members of staff before it finally appeared. A real shame as bad service is always remembered. In addition, we felt that it would have been more comfortable to have a lounge area for drinks. The area next to the bar and the area round the corner from the bar are both corridors with a lot of people constantly moving in that area. This morning we found another bar area but yesterday it appeared to be part of a wedding or celebration event and so was out of bounds.

Location was perfect for our purposes. Hotel very impressive and nice atmosphere. Beautiful breakfast dining room. Staff very obliging and courteous. Rooms well appointed.

Our only thought is for a hotel of its size and credibility it possibly lacked facilities - pool and gym, and also a second bar area. We had a family gathering at the hotel for drinks one night but had nowhere to go, as the restaurant was only for dining, so we had to sit in almost a hallway into the restaurant, so it felt like sitting in a thoroughfare. It would have been nice to have a lounge or bar area.

Fabulous building , beautiful grounds , very friendly staff couldn’t have been more inviting. Breakfast was excellent, cooked and cold , good selection even gluten free oats and cornflakes , plenty of Everything , extra hot drinks , toast etc was no hassle to the staff . Rooms are lovely , everything you need , soft mattress , plenty of big chunky pillows , goose down duvet . excellently clean , lovely bathroom , great views from the room . Plenty of teas and coffees and a good selection of them . Only thing I could say is a smart tv would have been nice

Beautiful well maintained grounds. The suite we stayed in was fantastic with lots of space and great views.

Was unaware of proximity to the train line which as a light sleeper was a little disturbing. Expected a small fridge to be available in a suite booking for the storage of fresh water and medical supplies. A little tricky that you couldn’t avoid steps to our room despite using the lift. Would prefer a self serve breakfast option to allow for more generous portion sizes. Need more than one member of staff on the bars when hosting a wedding.

Oscars bar was brilliant, the food was lovely and even though we were sat in the bar we were still treated the same as the restaurant guests. This meal was the highlight. The grounds were nice and it was a good escape and nice distance from Barrow in Furness, we briefly visited the town but didn't like it there, was very different to the hotel. The staff were all very friendly. The breakfast the following day was very well done and great service.

We felt a bit hot in the night, I looked for a thermostat to turn down the heat or add air conditioning but could not find 1.

Lovely venue for a Wedding, we were very well looked after before & during the service. We were lucky enough to get booked into a room at 12pm for a wedding at 1pm. Room a good size, bathroom large with heated towel rail, iron & board in the room. Looked to be a nice area to stay in if the weather is good as there were plenty of areas to walk in. Hotel staff were very attentive & pleasent during the day.

Most of the guests couldnt check in until 3pm & had to change/get ready in the toilets, more staff should have been available to have the rooms ready earlier (room vacate was 11am). No body wash in bathroom, no Green Tea option. Were advised guests could watch football in the bar area (whilst waiting for room to be set up for evening reception), lots of guests buying lots of drinks watching a TV with no sound on & were frequently told to keep the noise down during the game, if these guests hadn't been in the bar watching football it would have been empty!

The Staffs attention to detail and care to Guests was world class, especially from Laura and Rob, both of whom deserve a special mention for the work they're are doing and the teams they are leading at Abbey House. The food was brilliant and the rooms were spacious, classy and comfortable, and the grounds of the hotel are beautiful. We had a brilliant stay at The Abbey House.

The room was incredible. We were given a free room upgrade to the Princess Suite which was beyond everything we could have ever dreamed! After booking here to get away for a night after a difficult time, this was everything we needed and more! The room was incredible. Such a treat! Service was fab also, really friendly staff and we ate in Oscars and the food was delicious! Could not rate this place any better if I tried!

We loved everything. Nothing was a disappointment or too much!
