Everything! It’s a lovely old building, set in nice gardens, run by friendly and helpful people, it feels spacious, has good laundry facilities, a big kitchen, lovely views over Bath Abbey, a generally good vibe to the place, filled with mainly community minded and friendly guests of whom I made numerous friends in my week stay.
There are no hobs in the kitchen (apparently something to do with being a listed building), the one hallway outside our dorm room smelled a bit like toilet, and it’s at the top of a big hill - but that for me is totally worth it for the picturesque setting and view. Despite these minor things I totally loved this place.

The YHA Bath has an old and a new building, our room has been in the new building. The beds are comfortable, you can use several nice common rooms in the old building for breakfast etc. There is no parking space near the YHA, but there is free parking on the street. There is a bus stop to go into the city. The YHA is located on a hill, so walking back is not easy.
Check-In starts at 3 pm, not earlier.

On site kitchen with vegan options, over all staff was friendly but did seem overwhelmed at times. Common shared showers and bathrooms were maintained well. Each bed in the women's dorm had individual charging stations. Common area where you can eat/drink or just hang out was nice. The grounds were nice and easily accessible by one bus to the main city.
The shared women's room looked like it is rarely cleaned around the beds. The ground around the bottom bunks and where the under bed lockers were was very dirty. Shower in the womens room was dripping and leaking and was quite annoying.

The hostel was up on the hill overlooking Bath, with a beautiful view. We were able to arrange luggage drop off at noon - greatly appreciated. The staff were so friendly and helpful! We had room #9, very spacious for the 3 of us. The ensuite bathroom was handy. The beds and bedding were fine. There was laundry avaialble for a modest fee. The cafe offered morning and evening meals, as well as beer and wine and cappuccino. The U1 bus stop was right out front.
Be prepared for a big climb from the train station. The wifi was spotty and stopped working altogether for us Android users. We knew that towels were not provided but we sure missed having no bathmat.

Best kitchen eating facilities I've ever seen in a hostel. Fabulous house with great shared spaces. It is out of Bath but served 24/7 by the University bus which runs every 15 minutes or so. Peaceful position away from drunken hen parties! Spacious dorm with locking cages for Valuables. Shower and 2 ensuite toilets. Personal bed lights, charge points and memory foam mattress. Curtains were blackout and plenty ventilation. The more I stay, the more I like it. I didn't see the family block but the people I spoke to were very happy. Well positioned for Bath skyline walk, American museum and different ways down to easy canal walks, Bradford on Avon etc. I had breakfast 2 mornings. Plentiful and allowed more but I couldn't eat it. Helpful staff and lots of room to eat comfortably.
I would like extra pillows. Everything else was fab.

I liked the location; it’s not in the centre of Bath with 5 min to shops and food places but if you care for quietness and a nice outdoor space to sit in a natural environment, Bath YH is great. The hostel has nice green space to be outside and clean, well equipment rooms. It was good to have a toilet and shower room inside the dorm and everything was in a good condition. Also well equipped dorm with hooks for cloth, a large mirror, a socket and light for each bed and lockable storage under the beds. The room I stayed was clean, bright yet with good curtains to darken it for the night. I also really liked the self catering kitchen with its furniture of wooden tables to sit as well as the area by the reception with sofa. Neither too hip nor too old fashioned. Not sterile and not cluttered with stuff. Simple, clean and with a nice personal touch. The staff I met were very helpful and friendly accommodating for two situations I had going the extra mile.
I would have liked a hob in the self catering kitchen. It was well equipped but to have a hot meal you can only prepare something that works with a microwave as cooking is not an option. Tiny sink in the one toilet in the female dorm I stayed in. When the other toilet / shower room was busy I went to this one to clean my teeth and wash myself but found the sink not suitable really because of its size. Also - hooks in the two washrooms would be good to hang your cloth / towel.

It is the best hostel I have ever stayed at. It is located on the hill and I was walking there from the bus station (about 25 min on foot) so I could see the great view of Bath. The location is very quiet, only birds singing🥰 The hostel has got a beautiful yard with tables and benches where you can have rest or lunch in the shade of big trees. The rooms and bedding are very clean. I had a bed in a female dormitory, we had a bathroom in our room (with a toilet and a shower) and one more separate toilet also in our room so it's quite comfortable for girls! There is also a big comfortable kitchen with fridges and all things you need for cooking. No deposit fees!!! You pay for your staying there when you arrive.

It has a really good location, and we found a street parking space near the hotel. You can take a bus from the hotel that takes you 15 minutes to the centre of Bath. The room was nice and clean. The common spaces were big enough for all the costumers.
The breakfast deal was not so good, the food was not the best and the attention of one of the older guys on the staff was kind of rude. I guess he was super stressed, but the other youth guy was really nice and good. The main kitchen and the common toiler might need an extra cleaning too.

the room, bathrooms and all of the rest was very clean. the property in general is very nice, in the lobby there are some tables, board games.
the position is perhaps not great, but this is the compromise with the price. I went with two friends and we arrived late-ish, so the walk up hill was very very dark, barely any light, I think this should be something to look into. the walk down in the morning tough was very nice as you could have the view of the city in front of you.

we really enjoyed our welcome staff. the man was very very polite, helpful and spoke slowly so that we understood very well. The facilities were also easy and very cleaned. Breakfast was very good and delicious. There was a bus stop just around the corner of the Youth Hostel, very convenient.
didn't like the neighbourhood around us that night in the dorms. Probably a ladies night.... a bit of politeness and respect would have been great...
