I arrived a little later than anticipated and the staff were very friendly and accommodating upon my arrival ... including a nice piece of humorous banter with the duty manager when I rang the hotel earlier! Although I arrived mid-evening food was still being served and I ordered a steak pie with chips (and a pint!) which was really nice and decently priced. The room I was staying in was much larger than I'd anticipated and it was clean with all the facilities I required for my one night stay. I didn't take up the offer of breakfast as I needed to make a quick getaway in the morning. There was ample car parking space in the hotel grounds.

The largeness of the room was quite overwhelming for me staying just the one night and on my own ... the ceiling was very high and the blinds and curtains required a bit of effort to close given their sheer size. These are not criticisms of the room per se but observations given that I usually don't stay in rooms quite so grand! What appears at first glance to be a double bed is actually two single beds adjacent to each other which wasn't a problem for me but thought it was worth pointing out in case people have a preference for a double.

We originally just booked two double rooms, when we arrived, it looked like a large bus of tourists had filled the hotel, so when we received our keys to our room and opened the door, we were amazed! It was the honeymoon suite, and, it was fabulous!!!! Little did the staff know that it was our wedding anniversary. We have never enjoyed a better upgrade as much!!

We only received two bath towels… total. There were no hand towels, bath mats, wash cloths etc. at all. We went to the front desk and asked for some hand towels and they informed us they had a shortage and could only give us another bath towel. It worked but it was rather odd.

The overall aesthetic was stunning. I’d like to also put a little mention in for young boy Nathan who was absolutely exceptional. We arrived around half 6ish the night before my wedding and Nathan provided 10000/10 customer service. He was out of this world, and deserves some recognition for it. He went out of his way to help bring bags in and to our rooms, always asking if we needed anything and if we were doing okay. He was just a breath of fresh air. I’ve never had service like it anywhere I’ve stayed before. My family and friends agreed. The girl who was on shift at the same time and helped with stuff to the room was unreal too. She was so kind and lovely, and helpful. Each and every member of staff we encountered were absolutely lovely, and couldn’t do enough for us. An absolute pleasure to stay here. The suite is out of this world too. Absolutely stunning. Nicest room I’ve ever stayed in. We didn’t want to leave!! And despite living down the hill from the hotel, my now husband and I will definitely come for an overnight stay!

The bar area is a fun place to gather. The staff are excellent, from the front desk to the dining room. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. A special call out to Cameron, our superstar, for his excellent customer service skills and sense of humour. He recommended the K-Bob for dinner and it was superb. There was also a lovely young lady on breakfast duty two days in a row while we were there. I didn't catch her name (long blonde ponytail), but she made a cup of stronger coffee the first day when I asked and then had it waiting on the second day when I returned. Great staff makes this place. The food quality was excellent. Breakfast included was delicious. The price of drinks was surprising (to the good). We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Bathrooms could have been a little larger and a little cleaner on the floor. And it's an old hotel so the noise of people walking through the hallways and the squeaky floors was a little disturbing late at night and early in the morning - but the quaintness of the Inn makes up for it.

The position of the hotel near our relatives and the helpful staff. The car park is good even when busy and although the climb to the bedroom was a bit circuitous we were well able to do it. The room had a good view of the sea which we miss at home now.

The door to the bathroom was sticking a bit and the bathroom was a bit tight for room and short of handholds for elederly like us. The breakfast was a bit variable at the weekend with slightly frazzled bacon though perfectly edible. It also had DIY toast which is a bit time consuming.

Everyone working well in their posts to ensure guests were professionally catered for. Pete the little dog loved his carrot and apple bites, and the park opposite thank you.. Fab location for Edinburgh and Stirling using 909 City bus service. Falkirk and The Kelpies accessible by local bus services.

The hotel is lovely, the rooms are great sized and have all the hotel facilities you would need. The room decor is nice too and the room and bathroom was well cleaned. The bed was comfy and there were different pillows to choose from. The tea and coffee was replenished and there were also delicious border biscuits. The breakfast was great, the first morning of our stay we woke up to lots of snow! The hotel staff who had managed to get into the hotel, handled breakfast service really well given the challenges. The restaurant lights seemed to not be working so it was also not set up in the same location as usual. While this was challenging for the staff, they were still very friendly and polite. A selection of cereals, pastries and fruit/yoghurt was there to help ourselves. The second morning breakfast was in the restaurant, the restaurant had lovely, beautiful decor. The staff were again very helpful, friendly and polite and we ourselves had the time to order from the cooked menu this morning. The french toast was delicious! I would definitely stay again, my husband, son and I traveled with family and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The mugs for the tea/coffee were small, not much of an issue. I did notice the room was quite coweb covered at lights and corners. The room was hygienically cleaned well though so it didn't affect our stay just worth noting for when a deeper clean is done.

Really lovely place, room was spacious & clean, bed comfortable & the dog water bowls in the room was a nice touch. Had a meal in the restaurant & that was very nice. Staff were lovely & friendly. Didn't get to try breakfast as had to leave early so can't comment on breakfast

Only issue was the noise from the bar was REALLY loud! I had been informed of karaoke been on the night I was staying but wasn't expecting it to be so loud in the room, even with my TV on loud the music could still be heard. Also you could hear guests coming back to other rooms & doors slamming shut Unfortunately this would put me off staying again as I didn't get much sleep

We stayed in the Richmond Suite after securing a great genius deal in booking.com. The room was huge and the spa bathroom was amazing! We both slept like logs in the extremely comfy bed and an 11am check out ensured a relaxing morning. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was delicious, as was the breakfast the following morning. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly and helpful.

It's hard to find something not to like when you're giving 5*'s So here's some constructive criticism. Upgrade the TV/coffee making facilities and chuck in robes & slippers. It's a beautiful suite and refining those little extras will add additional luxury

Staff were very nice. Great location for the event we were going to. Room was very comfortable and quiet. Food was good. Hotel was clean and nicely decorated.

Food was good but would have liked fresh fruit at breakfast. I did get a fruit salad on request but it was tinned fruit. Back of the bathroom door needed to be cleaned. The bedroom was very warm even though we turned off the heater at night. I like to be warm but it was too warm. More staff were needed at breakfast. For quite a while there was only one member of staff who was very nice and doing well, whereas the night before there were nine!!
