The Southern Belle is generally very nice! It’s tucked away enough that it’s not super loud or busy, but you’re still in good walking distance to busses and can see the sea if you stick your head out of the door. Getting picked up by a taxi/uber is also very easy. We have stayed twice now and it’s our top choice to stay in Brighton. Rooms are a good size, showers are nice, beds are comfy. The pub/bar area is nice, busy enough but not overwhelming and reasonably priced for the quality. There’s quite often some very cute dogs visiting. Breakfast is very tasty. The staff are all really kind and welcoming, and seem to enjoy working there

Very little is not to like. It is quite far down a hill, which you have to walk up for the nearest bus stop. But, it’s Brighton so hills are expected. Breakfast doesn’t start until 8 which is a bit late if you need to be up and out, as everything is properly cooked, but this is easily planned around.

What a hidden little gem! Could not believe how beautiful and well finished the rooms and pub were, gorgeous interior and comfy beds. Toiletries, bottled water, tea and coffee all good quality. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! They went over and above to accommodate our anniversary stay, room upgrade offered and a celebratory complimentary drink each. Bar staff happily made a mocktail catered to my tastes, was really lovely. Included breakfast was hearty and very good quality, large choice of dietary inclusive options that were cooked to order, and unlimited hot & cold drinks. Was refreshing to have a hotel offer breakfast until midday, no more forcing yourself out of bed at 8am whilst on holiday! Location great, short walk to the seafront, Brighton centre and Hove. Hidden down a side road, so minimal noise from the street and busy city. Stayed during the week, pub was not noisy in the evening/late night.

Slight water/damp smell from bathroom after using shower. Could possibly do with a mini fridge if staying for longer than a few nights.

The hotel was lovely, very stylish. Staff very helpful, especially Tanya who did the breakfast service. She worked very hard to ensure everyone had fresh drinks and tables clean and ready for anyone coming in as long wait for the food.

We had breakfast included in the price, but on both morning had to wait over 45 minutes for our breakfast to arrive. I ordered egg Benedict both mornings. First morning the Hollandaise sauce had split, so a bit disappointed, but thought was a one off. Second day it wasn’t split, but for some unknown reason they had added spring onion to the sauce. Why would anyone do that? The only other area they may look at is getting newer pillows. We were in room 4 and they were so thin 2 pillows together were just about the size of a normal size pillow.

We loved the whole atmosphere of the hotel which was greatly helped by the polite, friendly and attentive staff. Our room was well designed and had everything we needed. Breakfast was fabulous and of such a high quality. The dining area was warm and welcoming. This was kind of local hotel, bar and restaurant that we wished was at the corner of our street at home.

We arrived by car and it was hard to find a place to park near to the hotel. I rang to get instructions and was directed to an underground car park about 8 minutes walk away. This cost £30.30 for the night. I was pleased because the car was safe and out of the way but I was not expecting an extra cost of this amount. I guess the moral is to use the train and not to arrive by car.

The staff were absolutely brilliant, extremely helpful and nice. My initial impression of the room was not that great, nothing particularly wrong with it, was just somehow expecting more (maybe unfairly so) although I thought the shower room was very nice. However, there was a large, good quality TV in the room and the bed was really comfortable and (unusually for me in hotels) I had a really good nights sleep. We only had breakfast at the hotel but the food and coffee was superb. Plentiful without being stupidly large and so tasty. If we had been staying longer would definitely have had another meal there. Location was very good too. Stones throw from the sea front and about a 20 minute walk into Brighton.

There was nothing we didn't like, just a couple of things that were not perfect, but we don't expect or even want perfection. Some of the paintwork in our room was a little shabby and there was a storage unit in the bar which looked grubby underneath. But nothing of any concern. Be aware that there is no parking but this seems to be the norm for hotels in Brighton so absolutely no criticism there.

It's very quaint, the staff is friendly and the rooms clean. Perfect spot to have a pint after a long day. Up the hill from the hotel are food options and a laundromat, as well as small markets for minor purchases. You are a short walk to the beach which is great.

Not exactly the hotels fault, but there is no A/C, which really is only an issue with the new super hot summers in the UK. I wouldn't be shocked if they invest in some room units down the line if this heat keeps up. Also it is in Hove, so its a bit of a haul to get towards the pier. But for the cost and what you get it all evens out.

It was a lovely little hotel, very warm, friendly and cosy. I stayed with my husband and out 3 year old son, and he loved the fact it was dog friendly. The bedroom was large, clean, and had a cosy feel. There were plenty of refreshments to choice from in the bedroom. A TV lots of plug sockets and a hairdryer. They even had spare toothbrushes should you forget yours. The staff were friendly and it was a great location. A short walk from the car park and to the beach front. We are also a vegan family and I was happy to see that they provided oat milk with the various teas and coffees in the bedroom. They had vegan mains and even for children too. Breakfast was very nice also, lots of variety and by far one or the best vegan english breakfasts I have had. If we return to Brighton and need a hotel, we will certainly be looking if this one is available first :)

Lovely place to stay within walking distance of Brighton Town centre. We stayed in Room 4, which was huge with a comfortable bed, Nespresso machine, kettle and plenty of tea and coffee. The radiator worked very well as the room was toasty hot for a cold November stay. The large bathroom had a great, hot shower, and toiletries were provided (along with some 'seagull noise blockers' (ear plugs)) Added bonus of the bar area downstairs and lovely polite and friendly staff made us feel very welcome. Thank you! We will be back!

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. The ambiance is great and the king room we had was really well appointed and comfortable. Our breakfast was exceptional, as was the coffee. A minutes walk to the beach area and it was a great stay. We have no hesitation in recommending this lovely bohemian hotel.

The only thing we could fault was that some shelving is needed in the bathroom for space for toiletries etc. There is no parking, which is the same as most hotels in the area, but we solved this by parking in the secure car park on Regency Square.

We visited Brighton for our 1 year anniversary. The Southern Belle looked perfect for the short time we were staying they didn't dissapoint us at all! They kindly gave us a free upgrade on our room and there was even a lovely card on our bed when we arrived offering us a free drink at the bar. It was a really sweet touch. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the clientele are brilliant and the food is amazing. The rooms are stunning and beautifully decorated, the beds are very comfortable, a real home from home feel. Breakfast was included with the cost of the room too, we were expecting youre bog standard full english but to our delight they offered a grilled breakfast, poached eggs on sourdough, eggs royale/ beendict, french crumpets which looked incredible and vegan options too, as well as teas and coffees! Honestly we can't recommend this place enough. We'll definitely be coming back in the near future. Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable ❤️
