Staff welcoming and adjustment to the larger room. Valet parking good value for 3/4 days.

I am not sure how, but the front right bumper was scratched. I should have checked the car over on its return from the valet parking. I had checked the location through my tracker and was able to locate where the car was parked. I’m not sure it is a secure location so it could have been caused by anyone. I think it would be good if show photographs of the car park so guests can make informed decisions if they want to park there. It rather took the shine off the week.

The room was great, breakfast was lovely, the spa was wonderful and the facial I had booked was amazing. The area was lovely and historical and I enjoyed walking around there. There was lots to see and take in.

The view from my room was of the building next door and looked down on the side of the hotel where cars were parked. However, it was at the top so I saw the sky which was lovely to look at. The lift was not working when I stayed there and I had to walk up to my fourth floor room. I did get clock up my step count though, so I am grateful for that.

We stayed at the Varsity Hotel to celebrate our anniversary and the hotel went to great lengths to make it even more special. We arrived before our check in time and they allowed us to leave our bags while we explored the city. On returning to the hotel our bags had been moved to our room which had been up-graded to a bigger size, the bed had also been decorated and we had been left a little card and a cake to celebrate. All these extra touches were so appreciated and really added something special to our visit. When we left the next day, the hotel arranged for a taxi to take us back to the train station.

Our room rate didn't include breakfast and we felt that the price of breakfast at the hotel was quite high (£20 each).

The staff is very friendly and helpful from check in to check out. The gym with access to sauna and jacuzzi is far better than your average 'hotel gym' that you see at so many hotel chains, to include two Peloton bikes. The rooftop bar is an excellent place to enjoy a drink with very friendly servers. Valet parking is required due to the location, and they are very proactive on bringing your car when scheduled. This will be my must stay location in Cambridge from now on.

The rooftop bar and restaurant were much busier than I expected on a week night, so they weren't able to accommodate me as a walk in guest for dinner. I was able to come back a while later for evening cocktails. My recommendation is to make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

The bed was amazing, the breakfast was a great start to the day, the shower was incredible, the location was just at the edge of the centre so you get all the positives of being close and don't suffer the noise, the staff were all super friendly, and the sauna/steam room/jacuzzi additions were delightful

Only one thing and that is our room seemed to be below some kind of extremely popular seating arrangement. On the Thursday night for around 2 hours there was non stop chair scraping which died around 11. As well the "private parking" listed on booking.com is £25 a night and requires notice in advance. I looked all over the site for this and didn't see it, it is listed on the Varsity website under FAQ's.

Superb location in the nicest part of Cambridge, close to the green, the river, shops, cafes etc, with access to the spa and a rooftop restaurant. Well worth upgrading to a top floor room with views. I was working in my room a lot and needed lots of natural light, so having a floor-to-ceiling picture window really made my stay.

My one gripe is having to pay extra for a cooked breakfast. The continental included in the price was fairly basic and the jug coffee pretty average - even ordering an americano with the continental was charged as extra - when you're several hundred quid down per night, that's quite annoying. To be fair, it's served in the stunning rooftop restaurant so the views help - but I ended up going out for breakfast elsewhere for two mornings out of four to get some variety.

The breakfast was great, can’t fault the food at all. My friend did want to use the Gym from 7am (which is when most Gyms open) but unfortunately it didn’t open until 8am, which when you are paying a lot of money to stay, didn’t seem right really.

We also had a problem with the shower, it kept on running and took a long time to drain away, we did report this to a cleaner but it didn’t get fixed, but because we were only there for a couple of nights we didn’t bother making an issue of it.

All the staff were exceptional friendly and helpful and welcoming that’s through from reception to both restaurants he stake house superb meal on first night through to six restaurant where we had breakfast and meal on second night all staff professionals this includes housekeeping staff who had the exceptionally clean and well kept

unfortunately our room was noisy first thing on morning as we were over looking a delivery yard plus the next room guest was a little inconsiderate banging doors after midnight, should have asked for upgrade room and would go for upgrade on a higher floor next time

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the ten years that we were associated with Cambridge University. The hotel has an exceptional location, close to the best parts of town, but also close to the river and Jesus Green. It feels like home away from home. Unexpectedly, this time we also had a balcony which was much appreciated and had excellent views. Had a lovely celebratory meal at Six Brasserie. We also really like the roof top bar.
