Friendly staff, made sure we were happy at breakfast, good cleaning staff

The rooms are quite cold, windows let in wind. With the sofa bed folded out the room is quite difficult to move around the room (I booked 2 rooms with 2 double beds as it was 1 adult and 2 children in each room and all they had was rooms with double bed and sofa bed) Was happy with the stay but all communication has been aimed at my husband despite it being me booking and paying and my husband being the 2nd adult on the booking. Including when they called me and asked for him. This may not seem like a big deal but is quite insulting.

The staff are wonderful! Dila and Joel were especially friendly and helpful, and really went the extra mile to look after us, and the dinner (beautifully cooked by Sunil) was exceptional - in fact it was one of the best rib-eye steaks I've ever had - and excellent value for money too. Part of the hotel is being used to house Afghani refugees while they await proper resettlement, and apart from a little noise from the younger children - who were also very smiley and sweet - the impact on our stay was only positive: we felt privileged to meet some of the people who have helped our country at such great sacrifice to themselves, and we also had a lovely, quiet separate room for breakfast, with a whole tray of nicely cooked sausages and bacon just for the two of us! The room was comfortable, quiet and clean. We work in Canterbury regularly and will definitely be back.

The charge for parking. I know it's only £3, but there's nowhere else you can park and I think it should be included in the room rate. Charging for it separately feels a bit petty.

The convenience of the venue with it's excellent car park. Charming and helpful staff who went the extra mile to make us welcome and provide good meal service. Freshly decorated bedrooms which were maintained to a high standard.

I was disturbed by the crowd of refugees sat constantly in the foyer at a table using communication devices. They were present in the early morning and at the night when I went to bed. It felt like an additional front desk which guests had to pass before reaching the hotel reception. Surely there is some more comfortable area the refugees could be allocated. They looked so rejected and out of place.

We stayed for a week to drop my son off to Uni and get orientated with the area. Location to the Uni and centre of Canterbury was super easy to get to (8-10mins drive). If you are taking a taxi, it's only £10 to Canterbury West Station. The staff were really friendly. Rooms clean and comfy. They currently have Afghan refugees staying there (nice to see a hotel helping out like this) and this had no negative impact on the service or stay at all. Breakfast was good - simple but pretty much everything you would need. I'd stay again.

Since you can't park anywhere else, I would like to have seen the charges for parking either dropped or charged at a cheaper rate. Small niggle, but maybe something they should consider. (Just fyi if travelling there over the weekends in September 2021: be aware of the road closures around there on the A2).

Our Family was room was great and very comfortable; the sofa bed was very large and didn't seem at all temporary (like some 'camp beds' can be). Breakfasts were excellent and catered for all tastes and needs. Most of all the staff were excellent; well trained, polite and very welcoming and helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The hospitality staff at breakfast time were very attentive and making sure there were supplies of everything at all times. Most of all, staff smiled and appeared to really enjoy their job and take pride in their work and to deliver a high standard of service. Well done, Holiday Inn Express, Canterbury. Hope to be back soon.

Nothing, although paying for parking on the premises (£3.00 per night) was a bit unexpected.

The stay at the Hotel was marvelous specially the staff. Dali was very helpful. They were friendly and provided way out assistance. The room was spacious with a folding sofa. We three were accommodated properly.

The hotel is quite far away from city. The bus stop was quite far and was a long walk. The hotel can request the bus company to make a stop right at the hotel drop step, since they pass by the hotel parking.

The breakfast was very good! All the staff very attentive and friendly. Dinner menu - only ate at the hotel twice - meals were tasty.

I feel that we should have been warned that a number of Afghan families would be arriving on the 2nd day we were there and then having them all housed in the rooms around where we were. Please don't get me wrong, I am VERY sympathetic to the cause but as a paying guest being disturbed by banging doors and loud voices late at night did not bode well. I feel that any new bookings you get this situation should be mentioned then at least customers will be aware and it will then be their choice to stay or not to stay.

As we were at a wedding I called ahead on the day and spoke to a helpful guy at Reception, he charged my card and checked us in so that when we arrived at around 11.30pm feeling a little worse for wear we were able to quickly grab our room key, some water and head straight up to the room. The room was wery clean and had everything available that one needs for an overnight stay. My friend had forgotten her toothbrush and was able to get one from reception at no charge. Shower was good, great pressure and nice and hot. Good value for money

The room was a little tight for 3 adults, some side shuffling round the end of the sofa bed was required to get to the double bed. Good job I didn't have too many gins that evening! Myself and one of the other guests were also accosted by some rather drunk "gentlemen" in the reception area. They were very loud, they made comments about my appearance, referring to my breasts!!! (I was in a bridesmaid dress) and at one point one of them tried to start a fight with my friend by picking him up off the floor! Although this is the fault of the staff I feel more could have been done to assist us with feeling less harassed!

Good choice of food and beverages . Bit disappointed with the dining room tables - perhaps a tablecloth would help as it felt a bit like being back at school!

This. Hotel was being used as a reception centre for Afgans newly arrived into the U.K. We had no problem with them other than their children running around and - as all children do - playing in the reception area and public rooms. It was also noticeable that these persons were taking their meals in a separate dining room but with crisp white table linen - some people may say that in itself was a little discriminate !! But not by the British guests! The people themselves were in no way a problem and we tried to speak to them at times but most did not understand English - however the children were delightful ! Perhaps management should have advised us that this situation was ongoing at this hotel although it did not cause us any problems other than those I have pointed out.
