All staff were very helpful and friendly. All facilities - in or outside of the room - were super clean. The hotel was only 10 minutes walk from the city centre, which was very convenient. 3 pm check-in and noon check-out were great as a lot of places these days want you to check-in at 4 pm and check-out by 10 am, which I always find incredibly uncomfortable when you are on holiday.

We found the toilet unit in our room was constantly leaking when we came back to our room late at night. We managed to kind of sleep through it but it bothered us a little bit. Having said this, we didn't know the reception was open 24-hour and we could have asked them to have a look. We reported this to the reception when we checked out and they were very apologetic about it. This would not bother me at all to stay there again in the future.

Accomodating staff. Free wi-fi that was consistent throughout my stay. Sleep quality was good. Within easy walking distance of the town centre, but far enough away from the noise of the all-night party that Cardiff is on a weekend. Attracts sports teams, families with children, hen night gangs, but all are all respectful of the rights of others to get a good nights sleep. Basic facilities are reflected in its affordable price. Vigilant, night-time security staff gives added reassurance to my daughter (and me for my daughter's safety)

Because of its popularity, the place is starting to get a little tired in places. Nothing major that cannot be easily put right - but little niggles, like the lift floor indicator lights haven't worked on the ground floor, for months, no sink plugs in some rooms, chipped table edges in some rooms where, I assume, people have tried to open bottles. And the light fittings in the coffee area - I never fail to crack my head on them. No harm done to me; just an unnecessary annoyance. No criticism of the maintenance staff intended- it is hard maintaining my own home - repairing 'fair wear and tear' in a hotel must be a nightmare with so many visitors

We were so happy with the overall staff .But there was this one guy .We arrived on 26th morning to the UK from Sri Lanka.I also sent an email saying that we will be late. The staff at the night was not even smiling .He said that we will have to stay till 02.00pm that day .We arrived to the place at 6.20am after flying for 13 hours. The first impression was hectic .He was not polite at all.He said there isnt anything that he could do regarding this and we asked can we pay extra and stay and then he said he can charge for 25th and we could get a room. Also he checked our passports as if we were frauds . The attitude is bad. But the other staff were so pleasant and kind . I just asked about PCR kit .They were so kind to answer and pleasant.

Only one staff that was very unkind

The room was great, spacious and clean. Loved the lighting underneath the panels, would be perfect to watch a movie at night or for a romantic night with a partner. Location was great, it did take a bit of a walk to find it but wasn't too hard to locate. Also a quiet area so can get a good night's rest. The best aspect of Ibis Budget is the staff, especially Olena (I hope I got her name right) who was very pleasant and helpful during my stay. She informed me that they had a luggage storage and we could keep the luggage there for free after check out which was something I wished more hotels would offer. I checked out at 12pm but my coach was at 2.30pm so I was able to leave my luggage and explore the area a bit. The 24h reception is great and the free tea/coffee facilities was a lovely touch to the great customer service even though it would be nicer to have that facility in the room instead of having to come down. Honestly Olena was the highlight of my stay there, having a receptionist like her who makes guests feel at ease and is happy to let us know of what the hotel offers is great.

If the toilet and sink were in the same place, it would have been better but it was okay. Would be great if they could have a small hairdryer in the room but I was not in need of it during my stay.

The staff, were friendly, helpful, polite, well dressed, and hard working. The fact I came back 2 times over 2 weekends tell you that I enjoyed it so much. In fact the top reason why I returned was cause of the staff. Other places should take note. I would like to say that all nationalities worked there, and that is why it works, Cardiff has always been and always will have so many nationalities, it's why Cardiff has such a European feel about, from the Merchant navy and the Royal navy in the Dock, to the coal mines in the valleys, everyone from every where possible has found and made homes and family's in Cardiff. And as the illegal criminally and horrific war in Ukraine 🇺🇦 goes on, hear this, Myself especially, To the Gorgeous Ukrainian members of staff ( you know who you are, front Desk and behind the scenes) that is your family's back home remain safe, and that you can all reunite back together again in a country where your free of Russian oppression But if you like Cardiff, I would love you to stay ❤️ Slava Ukraini!

Little bit tricky getting to the Ibis, but maybe was more a satnav issue than anything else. We were welcomed by the staff at reception. First impressions were how clean and well kept the reception was and where there was a drink station with quality teabags, coffee, milk in a jug, plenty of cups, we could sit and drink unlimited tea and coffee all for free or take it to our rooms We were also greeted by staff in the lift on the way to our room on the 4th floor. The room was bigger than we expected, very clean, towels folded on bed. Perfectly functional shower, sink in the room, and separate toilet in a small space but not an issue at all and the door handle could be used as a handle to grab on to. There was a desk and very handy stool. A light under the TV shone down on the desk/dressing table and there was a double socket handily placed there for laptop, charging equipment ...etc. The bed was like a king size, very big double and very comfortable with bedside shelves on both sides. There was a built in fan with heat/cool controls for comfort. Hanging space and a large mirror in the room too. For the price, we thought it was extremely good.

Couldn't fault it.

Location was great, ten minute walk to town, felt really safe going and coming from the Hotel. The room was perfect for a short stay for two, it was incredibly clean and the staff were incredible! They were so busy but always had time to help and were so cheery and honestly the best part of our stay in the hotel. I would absolutely stay again for a weekend trip and will recommend to anyone I know going to the area. Prices were high but that was due to the event happening in the city and my own late booking so I can understand that. Cannot fault anything about our stay.

It was clean and in walking distance to both Cardiff city centre & and Cardiff Bay. Breakfast pastries and yoghurt were lovely! Nice touch to have free tea and coffee in the reception area all day. We paid for the car parking in advance, and it was great that it was attached to the hotel - very convenient.

Bed was slightly hard for our liking but had a decent two-night's sleep (generally quiet). It would have been more convenient if there were sockets by the bedside table and by the mirror (there were only two sockets in the corner of the room). The sink holds the water for a very long time (doesn't drain easily).

Friendly and helpful staff and brilliant location

Just park app. Prebooked parking first night as husband is disabled and thought as we were arriving late best to be certain of a parking space even tho you can't state that on app. Got parked in one of the two spaces (other empty) next day after finding they was no free disabled parking anywhere close by tried to extend booking but app said no space. Luckily spoke to the staff (as carpark not owned by ibis) and they suggested we tried novotel sister hotel next door where we could pay in hotel which we did. Annoyingly though one disabled space at our hotel was vacant whole time!

Breakfast was fabulous and exceeded my expectations. There was so much choice and amazing quality - not what I was expecting for the price. Staff were amazing - there was nothing that was too much trouble. Ruth and Megan were fantastic - during breakfast, they would assist with my two young daughters. If anything was running out, they would replenish straight away. They also were very helpful during check in and check out and looked after our bags in the luggage storage while we explored the city. Will definitely use again and recommend to anyone visiting cardiff.

Nothing. Room was great and comfortable, shower was great, breakfast was amazing - there was nothing I didn't like.
