Location excellent - very central and plenty of shops and entertainment close by. Currently under renovation but historic aspects of the hotel are being retained. Exceptional example of early Victorian decor here. Essential aspects - bedding etc all very fresh and clean. Bed large and very comfortable. Food simple but of decent quality and staff most helpful and friendly. Some rooms are huge! Bed large and very comfortable.
A little tatty around the edges but this will be sorted with refurbishment currently in hand. Essential aspects - bedding etc all very fresh and clean. Bed large and very comfortable.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are big and beds comfortable. Rooms had a bath! The size of the room for the advance price was top quality. The hotel is old and could do with an update but it is very clean and that is what matters. My little dog loved all the attention from the staff. Would definitely stay again if breaking up a journey.
This is only from an accessible point of view but I struggled to get my folding scooter in lift as it was quite small. The pebbled floor round towards the back entrance was a nightmare on my scooter wheels and having to open the doors to get to room. Apart from these little things I loved my stay and the staff helped. They would probably have helped me up with bags to room but I'm too stubborn.

It was very central and nice and cheap plus I booked a double room for just myself as I was on business then my partner decided to come - we were only charged for his breakfast and the hotel were very accommodating
It wasn’t the cleanest, the floorboards really creaked but it was an old building so you can’t expect it to not have small issues. The other guests were very noisy - again the hotel can’t help that. There was a car park but we paid to stay in an adjourning car park as it was tricky to find due to the one way system but had we thought about it we should have paid 90p for an hour and asked how to access their car park. We paid only £12.70 for 27 hours which seemed ok anyway

Two nights bed and bed breakfast which included free parking for two of us for two nights in July for not much more than £115 in total was a total bargain The man that serves breakfast is such a sweetheart Reception manned 24/7 friendly staff Love Carlisle will definitely be back
Our room was quite small and hot however thankfully there was a fan which we kept on. Bed very comfortable.Party central on the street outside on a Saturday so dont go expecting a quiet night! we definitely joined in with it but on the Sunday was a lot quieter.Location is right on street with great nightlife Dj in Weatherspoons was fantastic and Karoke in another pub.Chinese buffet was great on the Sunday and only a short walk into shopping bit/stunning Carlisle Castle grounds 100% worth a walk around at night after a freshment in the 'Boardroom' old English style pub

Perfect location for our trip easy to get around Most of the staff on the reception amazing help apologies don't know all of the names one was working this morning blonde hair was lovely and polite , there was Dale who went above and beyond could not fault him what so ever top guy there was another young lass who was bubbly and polite and friendly and helpful apologies once again am poor with names but could not fault them 3 staff on reception
On the other hand the assistant manager who was a lady who may have had a accent unsure on her name she was working on the later shift I found her very rude her attitude towards me when I rang down to Reception was horrible , I did not like her one bit she put the phone down on me twice before I even got to finish my question she didn't deserve to be in the job if am honest also the room we was in at the back was kick off and loud shouting and screaming which wasn't just us that heard it a lot of golfing lads at breakfast heard all the commotion aswell as there rooms was next to ours.

All the staff was pleasant to talk to, the bed was comfy. Breakfast was good, location is close to everything
The room looked as if only the bed had been made, the edge of the floor has never seen a hover, toothpaste left over the bathroom sink, screws hanging out of cupboards. The bin still had rubbish from previous guests, one of the lights wasn’t working. Headboard was full of dust, the tray had not been cleaned. When the cleaners last cleaned the bathroom it looked as if they had swept all the rubbish behind the toilet and sink. Hallways had not been hovered.

fantastic customer service rooms tidy and perfect for what was needed bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfast is amazing literally lots of choice of cereal, toast and choice of spreads juice and then buffet style full breakfast, really good value for money.
my room was at the back of the property with a really nasty view and it was very warm so I had the window open but I was woken up 1 am by the staff from the takeaway next door making a lot of noise, also creaky floor boards at every turn but it’s the kind of thing you expect from an old Victorian building.

Location was perfect and the bedroom spacious and comfortable. Appreciated being able to park our car at the hotel. Reception staff were very pleasant and helpful especially Dale. Breakfast was really good with good range of choices.
We booked for a meal on the Saturday night but it was very busy. We felt that there was not enough staff on duty as only 2 to deal with serving drinks, taking food orders and serving the meals. Vegetables that were supposed to come with our meal had run out. However, we were offered alternatives which we declined but were given complimentary deserts, which we enjoyed. Again Dale was really attentive and pleasant despite being really busy, as was the young girl serving drinks.

The location was perfect but not on a weekend for families there was stag party first night and 2nd was the noise from the main street partying until 7am be perfect midweek when quieter but some facilities do need upgrading
The squeaky floors were so bad everywhere you walked in the room was loud so god knows what folk thought underneath when walking to bathroom in the night no one could sneek around in there and the bathroom was very old couldn't have a bath and shower wouldn't work unless you held it

Great parking right behind the hotel. Check in was good. 2nd room was excellent with good facilities. It is right in the centre of Carlisle so you can walk to many of the main attractions. Lucy and Dale were both very good front of house.
1st room was not great as it had a sloping ceiling so couldn't get into bed easily. That was changed swiftly. The public areas are nicely decorated but the rooms need a little updating. Very warm in the corridors and room and windows unable to stay open.
