Lovely room, very clean, well-appointed and comfortable as well as stylish. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and knowledgeable of the locality. Dinner was excellent, as was breakfast. Very quiet rural location but convenient for M6 and Carlisle.

Everything at the hotel was great but we received a lot of messages from booking.com, one of which thanked us for cancelling our reservation. We contacted the hotel directly who conformed that our reservation stood and that they had not sent any messages.

The place, the decor, the breakfast, the facilities including the bathroom (bath, shower jets) with an effort on high tech, even the cupboards have motion sensor and light up when you open them. Just a wonderful experience!

Just a bit far from the center. With no car it's a good 10/15 min taxi from center. Which made us book elsewhere the second night (unfortunately) ! For the price and quality of the place, nothing equals it in the center. Also definitely thing of booking a table at the restaurant for dinner. They were fully booked for us and given how good the breakfast was, I'm sure dinner would have been perfect!

Absolutely wonderful environment both in terms of architecture and decor, extremely well appointed with galleried library, comfortable lounge seating, really good restaurant and large convenient car park. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was superb with very high quality fixtures and fittings, a roll top bath, shower with multiple nozzles and lovely comfortable bed. Lovely location too.A first rate experience- and we will definitely be back.

Efficient and friendly

We chose the hotel because it had an electric car charger. To use it, we needed to photograph a QR code in bright sunlight- not easy! However, it requires downloading an app and registering a password. We did this but our password was then not recognised. We had great difficulty returning home to Kippen near Stirling and were 4 hours late because of charging on way home. What should have been a relaxing weekend was quite stressful.

A good sized comfortable room with a fabulous bathroom. The design of this relatively new hotel is stylish, cleverly mixing the traditional and modern. A pleasant bar and lounge area and the food is exceptional. There are EV chargers in the car park, not high power, but perfect for a full overnight charge. 20 minutes' drive from Birdoswald Fort (Hadrian's Wall). It's not the cheapest place to stay but well worth the money. Nice touches too, eg a local beer and g&t in the free minibar.

The Fleece was a perfect venue for a small wedding party celebrating. Upon arrival our room hadn't been made up as a twin, we were two friends sharing. The Fleece went above and beyond by proving an extra room so that we did not have to share a bed. The evening meal was fabulous and the dining room setting was perfect. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast the next day was a perfect way to finish off a lovely, luxury stay. The Fleece is perfect for that extra special getaway.

Can't think of anything that they could have done better. Facilities in the room were fabulous. Complimentary beverages in the mini bar and gorgeous toiletries to use.

Fabulous place, beautiful setting. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!! The rooms are amazing, lights in the wardrobes, iron, ironing board, coffee machine, everything you could possibly need. The receptionist Donna went above and beyond at all times, absolutely impeccable customer service!

Only suggestion is the patio door exit from the ground floor mobility access rooms could do with a dropped kerb for wheelchair access.

Fantastic! This hotel is exceptional - super clean, lovely staff, excellent value for money, fantastic restaurant, incredible bedrooms with very comfortable beds, generous mini bar and great coffee selection.

To be clear there is nothing I didn’t like. The stay was amazing! However, as a minor opportunity for improvement the check out system could be a little slicker. For example being able to select two rooms for final payment when one person is paying, rather than having to do two separate transactions would be a helpful amendment.

We were one of the first bookings at The Fleece and, consequently, the rooms were in mint condition. pur dog-friendly room included the use of food/water bowls, a mattress with towelling cover and dog treats with direct outside access. Large room with seating area and complimentary drinks in the mini bar (even a filled ice bucket) which was a nice, unexpected touch. Wonderful bathroom with underfloor heating, large walk-in shower and separate bath tub. Restaurant food was excellent.

Dog-friendly tables in restaurant/bar got a bit forgotten at breakfast.

Beautiful brand new inn. Everything was immaculate the room was really high spec and great value for money with generous little extras. We were travelling to Scotland so stayed here as a stopover. We were made to feel very at home. We ate in the restaurant, the staff were attentative and hospitable and the food was tasty. Really comfortable beds and high end bathroom with lovely toiletries. We ate at the sister pub The Queen Ann at Great Corby on our return leg and the food there was great value with a friendly welcome. The Fleece is in a good location plenty of parking and whether you are just passing through or staying longer there is much to see and do within a one hour radius. We will definitely be back and will recommend you to our friends and family.

More yorkshire tea bags please ! We know you gave oodles of choice for drinks in the room but for those of us who like our tea a couple more breakfast teabags would have been perfect. Other than that we could not fault you! 😀👍
