An oasis of calm after a hectic drive on the A30. Beautiful grounds including a lake and peacocks. The restaurant choices were excellent for our evening meal, as was breakfast - fresh fruit and a good choice of cooked items, including pancakes. Our room (2) and bathroom were very clean and spacious.

Unfortunately we were unable to access the electric charging point but this was no fault of the hotel - an issue with getting the App, which we had tried to sort out before we left home, ten days earlier. Fortunately Lidl in Chard had a fast charger that we were able to use.

Location was quite stunning and being greeted by the peacocks was a bonus. Better still, they were unusually quiet birds. Staff very pleasant and attentive. in possession of a great sense of humour too. Four poster bed was a nice surprise and very comfortable. Our room was closest to road, although a good way off, and we could just about hear the occasional ambulance pass with its siren going but, it was generally a quiet location. Bathroom was modern and very clean. My wife rates the shower as the best she's experienced in an hotel! Ate a good dinner in the restaurant and a lovely breakfast in the morning. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

Nothing negative at all.

Quiet country setting, with a stream, and an old mill. Picturesque and relaxing. We opened our window to hear the birds chirping in the trees. The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast delicious and our room was spacious. The hotel is set up to do receptions and special events.

Although we slept well,the mattress in our room is due for a replacement as springs could be felt through the cover.

The relaxed feel, the excellent food ,the decor, the incorporating of the mill features into the structure of the hotel, the general cleanliness, the extremely comfortable beds, the grounds and especially the peacock!

Generally lovely - tiny issue with the door by the umbrellas - the catch was movable with the inside handle but not the outside one so once unable to open from the outside during the day. The banister up the staircase was quite grubby.

The location was perfect and the staff could not have been friendlier. The grounds are beautiful and we were lucky enough to have two really sunny days which made the surroundings even better. The three peacocks were stunning, especially George! Breakfast was very good but make sure you go in with an appetite as the chef is a feeder!! :) Very quite as it was early in the season and mid-week but that suited us just fine. Would highly recommend.

No complaints at all.

On arrival we were genuinely warmly greeted by Jane who remained genuinely kind, thoughtful and friendly throughout. All the staff appeared pleased to see and help us. The food was excellent as was the service, the surroundings were superb - provided you don't want night clubs on the doorstep! The accommodation was comfortable I have saved the details as I will definitely return if I come to the Chard area again.

I do not recall anything that disappointed about the property, although mobile phone reception is very poor or non-existent in the area but the property does have wi-fi one can join

The hotel is set in lovely peaceful grounds that are a pleasure to stroll around. The small team of owner and staff were exceptionally helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. A light supper was provided instead of a main meal. Breakfast was well cooked and plentiful. All in all a good experience. We would not hesitate to return.

The only thing that raised my eyebrows was the shower flow could have been better.

Beautiful hotel and setting. Such a lovely happy team who clearly enjoy their work. Nothing they wouldn't do to make sure our stay was perfect. Extensive breakfast covering all likes and diets. Fab evening meals with really good selection. Never managed a dessert! Added attraction of George the resident peacock and his two wives Charlotte and Catherine!

Everything was perfect for our stay.

Breakfast had a good menu for hot food.Good dinner perfectly cooked . Very clean room . Lovely staff. Nice comfy sofas . Nice outside area .Staff worked exta hard .

The room had a sloping ceiling in Bath room which made it feel awkward having a shower no were to attach shower to . Room number 3 . Breakfast had little choice for yogurts no crosonts.

Room was nice and clean, dual aspect. The bathroom had excellent lighting. The grounds we good would be lovely in the summer with the good weather. Loved the peacock.

Not much atmosphere but that was no fault of the hotel or staff, just down to the economy and lack of paying guests. Limited menu choice but again understandable due the amount of guests staying and the kitchen not wanting to stock produce that would not be used.
