My wife and her mother stayed one night and said It was like staying in a beautiful home. The staff were polite and attentive, especially the lady at reception who greeted them when they arrived and personally showed them to their room. Such a lovely touch. Also Matt, who looked after them at Breakfast so well on his first day. Breakfast was lovely, the room (Sandalwood) was comfy, clean and welcoming. Parking on site was free and convenient. They would highly recommend. The perfect place for a family occasion, for a quiet stay to chill and unwind or for visitors to the area a place to stay and explore from. In one word 'Fabulous!'
Not a dislike, but my wife did find the pillows personally a little too plump and therefore, uncomfortable.

Friendly and welcoming staff. Both bedroom and bathroom with plenty of space. Very comfortable bed. Great to be able to make a cuppa when we wanted with fresh milk and water in the communal fridge. Good choice for continental breakfast.
Lighting in our room was not great but the lightbulb was soon changed and that improved considerably. Lighting in other bedroom was fine. My mother would have liked to have had a brochure or postcard to take away with her to show her friends what the hotel was like as she doesn't use social media or a mobile phone.

We have stayed here before, as the location is very convenient as a stopover on our way home. We love the cosy, relaxed feel of the both the property and staff. It's like staying with old friends who know how to make you feel comfortable, but also how to give you space. The garden is beautiful too and the rooms have a classic but eclectic charm, a million miles away from corporate hotel chains. The food is fantastic...both dinner and breakfast are the epitome of great cooking with fresh, local ingredients.
Our only reservation is that the beds are doubles not king size.

This hotel offers refined luxury but with a lovely homely, cozy feel. It's a little bit quirky due to the age and location of the property, which makes it extremely charming. Everything is very good taste and I'm glad to say that there's not a horrible little UHT milk carton in sight. We adored the peacock, pea hens and guinea fowl who roam the grounds and in Summer it must be glorious to have a drink or two at one of the numerous tables set outside amongst the trees. The bed was sumptuously comfortable, although next time, we would book one of the rooms with a King-size bed, as that is what we are used to at home. The food is absolutely delicious. We had breakfast and dinner during our stay and both were exceptional. We would definitely love to come back.
We don't eat meat, which can be tricky, so always check the menus before we book a hotel. The sample menu on the website had several vegetarian options on the dinner menu, so we were a bit disappointed to see only one starter and one main course option on the night we dined. However, the lovely staff member who served us, did go to the kitchen and the chef offered a couple of extra veggie choices, but they felt like a bit an afterthought so we declined. This is nit-picking though, because the Mushroom Stroganoff we did order was so good that my husband used his dessert spoon to (noisily) scrape the extra sauce off the plate.

Farthings is a great country hotel in the heart of Somerset. You will experience a true cosy cottage atmosphere warmed up by the wood burner and home made liquors and the most traditional with a twist cuisine served by professional and friendly staff. The rooms are really nicely furnished in true duck egg blue walls, floral curtains and wooden furniture over looking a true English garden. Everything about Farthings was perfect !
Nothing !

Nice ambience and flexible hosts.
The bar area needs comfy leather sofas and armchairs. Very limited area to sit comfortably and have a drink. They have dining tables with wooden chairs in areas where there is log burners. Such a waste of space.. one area should have a proper set up for comfy sofas and chairs - pretty please. Only thing putting us coming more frequently or arranging to meet friends there for the weekend. No proper place to socialise.

Gorgeous country hotel - had a delicious meal there the first night and a very good choice of wine; the dining room was lovely had a table looking over the front gardens - bonus of seeing two peacocks wandering by! Room was clean and very comfortable with a balcony. Staff very helpful.
Rooms at the front have a little bit more road noise, when windows open, than we expected for a country village but to be honest not a very long rush hour in the morning.

Lovely small hotel, nice rooms, a few creaky floorboards but added to the charm and very well presented in decoration and style. Lots of seating outside and a good menu offering. Only there for 1 night but would happily go back for a bit longer. Has a car charging point and a noce local pub 5 mins down the road.Very quite and peaceful and tucked away far enough away from main road traffic. A little gem :)
Wish the restaurant was open just a little longer as it closed at 8pm.

Great quiet location and beautiful country house hotel in stunning setting. Friendly staff and top class food and dining experience. On-site parking and pet friendly. Highly recommend.
The website states all bedrooms are “equipped with immaculate en-suite facilities, featuring either a bath or a bath and shower combination” however we stayed in the Oak Room which does not have a bath. We also wanted to book in for dinner (when we arrived and checked in at 5pm) and were told they were already “fully booked”. We were eventually ‘fit in’ for dinner at 8pm, which we were grateful for (not wanting to go and find somewhere else to eat) and it was the most incredible meal. Out of this world.

Everything. The weather was gorgeous so we enjoyed the garden and our balcony. We needed an iron and ironing board, they provided it. Then it was so hot we needed a fan and they found one for us. It was beautifully clean, access to a smeg fridge in the hall with milk for our tea and a bottle of cool water. So smart, friendly staff, we'll be back. Oh! And the breakfast was great! The poached pears, delicious!
