My friend and I stay here every 12 months for a girlie weekend. We have always enjoyed our stay. The staff are very friendly and professional. The food is good and not over priced.

We stayed two nights. Unfortunately, the second day, housekeeping did not come into our room to replenish the refreshments. We were happy to make the beds, but it would have been nice to have a couple of the towels replaced along with the refreshments. One point regarding the restaurant is that the wine is extremely expensive if you only want one or two glasses. This didn't spoil our stay, but maybe it's something that could be reviewed.

The quaint and slightly bizarre accounting practice of apportioning a credit limit to the room, so I had to pay by credit card for one dinner instead of charging it to my room (which is my company's preferred action), as I'd 'run out of credit for charging to the room'. Never ever experienced that before, in all the Doubletree hotels I stayed at in the US. Also, extending my stay by booking at reception - no breakfast included (as in the Booking.com reservation) without asking and without explanation. Caused minor embarrassment at the restaurant, with a further difficult scene involving the assistant Manager, who then saw the light and gave me complimentary breakfast for the remainder of my stay, which was very good of him.

in arriving we checked in with ease and we were given a glass of prosecco which was a really nice touch. the room.we stayed in 188 was fantastic all are needs were catered for and really clean the staff were excellent very pleasant and helpful the food and drink was fantastic we couldn't fault .

now please don't this the wrong way as we loved the place and i am certainly not a complaner as some things carnt be helped but the only thing was a load humming sound in are room from something like air con machine or some kind of extractor fan but it was on throughout our stay and kept us awake all night and that was the only down side and I understand we could of said something but we're not complaners we just get on with things all in all it was a nice place to stay.

Breakfast was good. Could have been a little warmer. Dinner was excellent. Our fillet steaks last night were delicious. Staff were wonderful, housekeeping, restaurant staff and reception. Our room was small but had everything you could want except perhaps a dressing table mirror. I use a wheelchair and although I can stand, it is not comfortable when drying hair or applying make-up. The beds were excellent. Housekeeping supplied the extra pillows I requested very quickly. Restaurant staff were fantastic and accommodated my need of space for my wheelchair graciously. Service in the restaurant was great. Lovely approachable people.

Great surroundings and peaceful given the spacious location

Ordered room service which was accepted at 10pm. Then subsequent call to say I couldn’t order what I’d already ordered cos the menu at that time was different. ( although it was on the room service menu) Wasn’t informed that there was no room service between 10pm and 10.30pm despite two opportunities to do so. Not the end of the world but better communication would have reduced my frustration and changed my choice in that I wouldn’t have ordered it if I knew it would take at least 45mins to come. Library room was free all morning yet I couldn’t use it for a few hours meeting without paying £100. No flexibility or negotiation at all

A group of us stayed here for a weekend when we were attending a wedding held at Chesterfields. Beautiful grounds and hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel lobby plus bar and restaurant area are spacious and contemporary. Breakfast was good. We had lunch which was good and although not cheap, what you'd expect to pay at a hotel like this, and food was fresh and tasty. Bar drinks were very expensive though. Some of us used the spa, which was mid-sized, well kept, and very nice – a half day felt right for what facilities were there, although using the main restaurant in spa garb alongside regular restaurant customers felt a little odd, though not off-putting. We had a junior suite to share between three, which was a nice amount of space for us.

• For a modern hotel, completely inadequate number of plug sockets, including none by the beds. • Very poor lighting in the rooms – just one overhead light by the door, and rest of the room completely reliant on lamps, which just didn't feel enough now the nights are starting to get earlier (September). Wouldn't like this during winter. • Toilet paper and shampoo weren't restocked and we had to ask reception for more of both. • Was coming via public transport, and thought about using the bus route outside the hotel for travel into and back out of Chester. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone, as there is no proper crossing place across the four fast lanes of traffic when using the bus stop coming out of Chester to the hotel.

Room was of a good standard. A great shower in the room with fantastic products.

The restaurant not great. When we came several years ago there was a choice of two restaurants as opposed to just the one. The restaurant was ok but on a par with an ember inn pub. The spa needs sorting out rubbish including tissues and water bottles left and not tided up. Water all over the floor not cleaned up. Two steam rooms out of action yet this was not communicated to us when we booked. Girls on the spa reception came across as if they didn’t want to be there not at all welcoming.

A superb weekend away with my mother. Excellent location of the hotel to city centre. All staff greeted you with a friendly face and smile. Every part of the hotel was clean and fresh smelling, room service was great only thing I'd recommend is some little salt n pepper sachets with meal. The breakfast was one of the best I've tasted staying in hotels so much choice.. I would highly recommend double tree and will definitely be going back. I felt so comfortable there I wouldn't hesitate a stay there by myself.

My stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Chester was absolutely wonderful. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and a freshly baked cookie—a delightful touch that set the tone for the entire visit. The hotel itself is stunning, blending modern comfort with elegant charm. My room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and impeccably clean, providing the perfect setting for relaxation. The grounds are equally impressive, with well-maintained gardens that offer a peaceful escape. The staff were all incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed for a perfect stay. Whether it was enjoying a delicious meal at the hotel restaurant or unwinding in the serene surroundings, every moment was enjoyable. I can't wait to return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a lovely and memorable experience.

While my stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Chester was delightful, I did find the price for one night a bit on the higher side. Although the hotel offers excellent amenities, beautiful surroundings, and top-notch service, the cost might feel a bit steep for some travelers. That said, the overall experience was still very enjoyable, and I felt it was worth the splurge for such a lovely and memorable stay.

We stayed in a deluxe room and it was spacious, clean, quiet: basically perfect. We checked in late in the evening and ordered room service which arrived quickly, and was delicious. We then needed non-feather pillows and they were brought quickly too. Even though it was the height of summer, we didn’t see or hear anyone else until breakfast. Which was absolutely rammed but no bother to get a decent table by the garden. A lovely stay.

A really minor quibble that perhaps would have become a grumble if we’d had more time at the hotel: it’s a shame the pool isn’t more available to guests who aren’t there to spa. My son was desperate to swim but it was unclear whether he could (if we paid £20) or he couldn’t (as he was under 16 and not on a spa break).
