Warm and cosy. Handy for buses with frequent bus services

Loose handle on bathroom door with missing screw , broken bedside light fitting due to adjustment joint problem and anglepois lamp repaired by me due to similar issue. Several wall cracks in room corners and down door jambs. One of the upper small windows couldn’t be properly closed or opened due to loose fitting.Probably needs a good maintenance service and a degree of refurbishment.Finally the small gap between bed and radiator made it difficult to access bathroom for people with mobility problems as the space was around 12 inches

The Hartwood Hall bedrooms are located separately from the bar/restaurant, which is attractively decorated and comfortable. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast was good.

The external signage needs to be improved so first time guests know where to check in. The mushrooms at breakfast were pretty awful - they were all dried up. Also, the restaurant needs to open promptly at breakfast time so guests do not have to stand outside in the cold/rain, especially if they are on tight timescales and want to get a quick breakfast and leave early.

Mattress was extremely firm, which was perfect for us (but others may not like). Everything was completely spotless, your cleaning team must have magical powers as I have never seen a hotel room so clean. Tea and coffee making facilities were well stocked but I personally would have appreciated a little more milk. Surprisingly quiet considering it's location.

The room was very small. I appreciate that you're working with a period building, but there was barely any space to walk between the foot of the bed and the wall. Several times we stubbed toes and banged shins trying to navigate from the door to the bathroom. The bathroom itself barely had enough room to turn around in. As a larger lady myself, it was not a comfortable experience.

The breakfast was one of the best I've had in my many years of travelling, I was disappointed I missed out because I had to leave before Saturdays service.

The water pressure was too low in the mornings. Also (this is not a criticism), but for me I like to be able turn the heating off completely. Even with the radiator off the pipework kept the room warm, I do like it cooler when I'm asleep, I'm sure this would be fine for most people.

Loved the price & location, staff very friendly & willing to help, good food choice & price. Rooms comfortable & well equipped, decor nice, everything kept clean.

Only 1 bath towel & 1 hand towel in en-suite beyween a couple. En-suite could do to have an extractor fan installed as there was nowhere for the steam to escape after we used the shower, this will cause the hotel problems with both black mould & peeling ceiling paint. It did not bother us as we only stayed 2 nights

It was very close to where I wanted to spend my time as I had flown in and didn’t want to rent a car for just three days. It had a restaurant. Breakfast was excellent and dinner too.

The double room that I used only for myself was a bit small. The facilities were excellent though, housekeeping was amazing and the room was on the ground floor.

Nearly everything. Staff friendly, food exceptional, service for food and bar very quick. Room was clean and adequate, great value for nothing.

The doors on the room have no exterior handle, they also have no weight, so when leaving your room you literally had to pull your door in fast and slam it to shut it, not great for other guests in the building.

The staff were exceptional - really kind, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts and meal I had were really good The room was good value , clean and nicely decorated and I was able to adjust the radiator to the right temperature.

Can't fault it, especially for a last - minute booking . OK, the walls were a bit thin between my room and next door, but that could happen anywhere!

Most of the staff were brilliant. Until breakfast this morning! Saying that I presume it was a more senior staff came on duty and resolved our issues easily and quickly. Water for tea cold, one breakfast menu between tables, trying to get a clean cup. Dont put hot water out until customers come in? Smile? Rooms don't need winter duvets during heatwaves. Save your money and time by leaving it and a plain sheet on the bed?

Menu. Hot water. No duvet. Breakfast staff that make customers feel welcome and not a burden?

Basic full english, however I found the mushrooms dry and bacon tough. Good choice of items & good quality. Location of accommodation unfortunately too close to main road outside noise noticeable. Standard of rooms could not fault very clean bathroom, hair dryer & iron supplied + iorning board you don't get that everywhere.

Due to the age of the building room had very creaky floorboards, not a problem for me but feel sorry for anybody below.
