All the rooms had been upgraded and our room was very comfortable. We also had a separate bedroom in our suite - we didn't use it but that too was of the same high standard. The location of the hotel couldn't be better as it is on the sea front and is also ideally situated to visit all the other attractions in Deal.

Breakfast took quite a while to be served - the hotel was very busy with many local people who were not staying at the hotel choosing to have breakfast there. The breakfast was excellent when it arrived though and there was a really good choice of food options.

We were upgraded to the Nelson room, although no one mentioned it at check-in, so it was a wonderful anniversary surprise. The room was lovely, particularly the comfortable bed, it was quiet all night, the calm colour scheme, the option to have our delicious and filling breakfast on the balcony with a patio heater and perfect location overlookingthebeach. Staff were attentive.

Shower water was luke warm, meal in restaurant was okay but we would have expected more flavour, although as last orders perhaps staff were ready to leave rather than cook. Huge disappointment was that on the day after Boxing Day, no other individuals during our stay wore face coverings including reception, serving and housekeeping staff, and guests.

Staff were absolutely superb, there's a lot of places out there that would love staff such as yours Breakfast was brilliant, a little smaller on the second morning, but was just the right size, Friday evening dinner was also great Just about everything else except....................

Bathroom brilliant size but not enough heat in there, a towel rail is not enough for such a large bathroom. It was incredibly draughty, we would certainly stay again, in this room, but not in the colder months. Could only close the bathroom door from the inside, door would be ajar and rob the main room of any heat, except late at night when the heat would pick up a little too much. Managed to use up all the white sugar on the first morning before breakfast (I do love a cup of tea) but was only ;eft two sachets, didn't realise this until morning when it was too late, not the same with brown sugar.

Our room was beautiful, as was the view. The staff were friendly and attentive. The veggie breakfast was fantastic (although it was missing the oggs and condiments). We were also impressed that a range of plant-based milk was offered. I have never stayed anywhere so prepared for veggie guests with no prior arrangement needed. The room was very clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back and recommending you to our friends. Really impressed.

We were concerned by a loud banging sound when we first arrived which turned out to be the door of the downstairs bar. We spoke to staff about this who rectified the issue immediately. The only constructive criticism that I have is that the balcony beams could have done with a clean, the bath water in the morning did not get hot and the bathroom tap kept dripping. However, I do appreciate that it is an old building and some of these things may just be part of the charm. The room also needs some sort of table so that breakfast can be taken inside.

It is always a haven in the with perfect views over the sea, it is steeped in history and the staff are always very friendly and the food very satisfying with a good range of this is on offer.

It is hard to fault this hotel but it is often booked up so my only great would be I can't always get a room. Sometimes it isn't possible for the hotel to beat the price offered by booking.com. and so sometimes it's good to check with the hotel because being a hotel that is often full it is good to see if they do have a room available even if it is sold out on booking.com.

Spacious room, good furniture & fittings. Bed was very comfy, tea & coffee making facilities ideal. Excellent choices for breakfast, restaurant staff very efficient and cheerful. Good choices of beer, spirits etc. Beautiful location ie on the sea front and very central to shops and restaurants.

The only disadvantage was that unfortunately my room was on the 3rd floor and there is no lift to the second & third floors. Due to my age and minor onset of COPD, going upstairs left both my wife but, especially me, out of breath.

Wonderful location on the seafront. We were very pleased that a room was available for our family of 5. The room worked very well for us and the location was great. Breakfast was also very good and the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would do so again.

It was very hot one night with no air conditioning. By the seafront this was generally not a problem overall.

Location superb, food excellent, staff super friendly and helpful. Relaxed environment.

On previous visits, the sash windows in our room could be raised to give a superb armchair vantage point from which to gaze at the sea, the beach, the promenade, and the pier. The windows can now be opened only 60mm (!!) - you can still see everything but now through glass, which is just not the same. It's like watching it on TV now - extremely disappointing.

EVERYTHING!! it started with a warm welcome and introduction - when I saw the fabulous balcony room (Nelson) I was completely taken aback - they even served breakfast on the balcony, that was awesome, sitting in peace and listening to the waves while watching the sea and the dog walkers ... the food at the restaurant as well as the staff were fantastic- frankly speaking I was pretty sad to leave this precious hotel and lovely town ...

Truly pet friendly!!! Pets were welcome throughout the hotel and restaurant and we saw quite a few in addition to ours, all on good behaviour and having a lovely time. Location is perfect, views are fabulous. The restaurant on site was very good. Beds were comfortable, room was spacious. Everything was clean. I appreciated the large bath towels and soft bedsheets. We definitely plan to stay there again.

The windows rattled which I find charming but could bother some light sleepers. Building is not super modern so lacks things like fast internet and plentiful charging ports but I think that’s part of the appeal of a more vintage property.
