The location was amazing. The experience of a canal boat was really fun. We enjoyed being central to everything in Edinburgh. The beds were really comfy. The boat stayed nicely warm. For the women, the flat iron and hair dryer was a great amenity.

It is hard on a boat to say you are going to have lots of space, so that needs to be expected. We did battle venting when we cooked so be prepared to open the hatch to clear out the kitchen. Everything was expected as we knew we were on a boat and if you go into the place with this in mind you will love it.

The Boatel is quirky but brilliantly located and comfortable. Natasha was really helpful and accommodating. You have to get used to managing the things like the pump and toilet but it's easy enough. Kitchen was well set up and easy to use and beds were super comfortable. We were there in November so you needed to get the blower going initially for heat but once heating on it was snug.

We loved the unique experience and we were lucky to have one non-rainy evening where we could have some wine above deck. Check-in was flexible and use of the boat was explained quite clearly in terms of the pump systems, etc.

We'd requested a hamper for arrival, but it must have been missed in the communication. And I understand there was meant to be a key left for us so that we could use the laundry/shower facilities, but that wasn't shown to us when we checked in and we couldn't find it. Not a big deal as the shower in the boat worked just fine. But then the gate to the dock was locked and we had to hop the gate a couple of times becuase we didn't have the key. The only real bummer was that there wasn't a toaster! We love some toast and tea, but ended up trying to toast bread in a pan instead.

Lovely, cosy stay! The children loved staying on a boat, as did we! Natalie was really helpful upon arrival, she showed us around and left her number if we needed anything throughout our stay. The boat was clean and warm. It is a great size and was very comfortable for a family of 4, it could easily accommodate a couple more adults or children. Great location, within easy walking distance of Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle and The Old Town! Highly recommend, we would love to stay again! We were a little worry about the temperature prior to arrival as temperatures had dropped and the canal was frozen! But we can honestly say we were lovely and warm, the boat was very well heated. For a unique stay in Edinburgh, do not hesitate to book!

Staying on the houseboat was a unique experience. The host was very communicative and helpful. The location was very quiet and the boat did not move much at all so there was no seasickness from anyone onboard.

The rooms were only large enough for the bed with very little wiggle room. From the photos, I was expecting the rooms to be a bit larger and I was expecting three rooms, not two rooms and a pull out bed. That might be my fault for not reading the listing closely, but there are three boats and we were placed in the smallest one.

Very good location in city center, quiet place, something special.

We spent there 4 days and expected (offered and paid) 3 breakfasts. We received only 1 baskets with meal 1st day and no more. Too little for 5 people (6 eggs, 1 loaf of bread, butter, 1 milk, 1 juice, 1 yogurt, 1 bag with muesli, 6 bananas, 5 nectarines = 1,5 breakfast, not 3 :-( ) Disposal pump in use was noisy, annoying for one who slept in "living room".

The Four Sisters Boatel is a fun and unique place to stay! The beds were comfy, the location is ideal, and there are great amenities, such as free Wi-Fi, coffee, tea and milk. The hosts are lovely and helpful!

Because this is a boat, there are some unique requirements, one of which is that you cannot put toilet paper in the toilet. We are traveling with four children and it was challenging to keep them from forgetting this rule. This is just part of being on a boat, but I wouldn’t recommend this stay with kids for more than a night. It just made it a tad stressful.

Great location within walking distance of the City centre & literally a straight road to the Grassmarket area. Tesco express just a 2 minute walk away, and additional washroom facilities a little further down the canal. We ate at both Loudons & Hula across the road, Toro Latino (fab!) a 5min walk away, and got takeaway form Byron Burger which is just a short dander round the corner. The welcome hamper was greatly appreciated, and whilst we knew that the space would be a little cramped for 6 adults we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The boat itself was really well equipped & very clean on arrival. The Four Sisters is the smaller of the two canal boats but we really liked that we had a bit of a igger deck space for sitting in the sun/evenings with the awning providing shelter from the wind/rain when needed - well it IS Scotland!!

The cabins are a little cramped but we were expecting this. No other complaints.

Cosy and comfortable. Suggest you bring as little luggage as possible dues to space. Clean ans well thought out. Great location (although drunks decided to jump on the pontoon Friday night and scared us). Easy to walk into town and shops and restaurants on our doorstep.

Nothing really. We were expecting it to be a tight space and we were aware of the facilities being a walk away plus no loo roll down the loo but some may overlook those details and be a bit surprised.

Exceptional accommodation in the centre of Edinburgh. The management team could not do more, the Boatel had every thing that a family would need for a short break and as the location on the canal was so inspiring, took the opportunity to host some of my sons wedding party for a BBQ.
