The hotel has a quaint and quirky layout and is in a great location in walking distance of restaurants and shops. The breakfast food is of very good quality and lots of choices. Everything is cooked fresh and to order. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by a friendly face and this continues throughout your stay.

There is onsite parking but it is narrow and the spaces are close together. If you have a large car it is impossible to manoeuvre it easily. It’s not a showstopper though as there is competitively priced public parking directly in front of the hotel.

My complements to the cook/chef for breakfast it was superb. Each morning the standard did not drop, and I was staying for 8 breakfasts. I also had dinner too, again what a great chef. Great meals enjoyed them all. As I hate to cook, I was in heaven. I had a really lovey room and because it was hot on my arrival, I used the table fan and opened windows for a cross breeze. The bed was very comfortable. Plus thank you housekeeping for making up the room each day and keeping all so clean. The location of the hotel is very favorable to walking to town.

Can't think of anything right now.

Although not a big hotel this is very much an example of added value. Has an atmosphere quite unique as the buildings history goes back to the 1700's. Staff were always pleasant and happy to help. Interesting grounds which were well kept. Cooked part of the breakfast was served by the waitress and freshly prepared. The room although not overlarge was clean and tastefully decorated with wood paneling, bathroom and shower were good. Bed was comfortable. We had one evening meal which was excellent and we were served by courteous staff.

The window in our room was very stiff and it could not be opened and closed easily. The only lift is getting on in years and probably needs replacing.

Room was small but had a walk in wardrobe and large bathroom/wet room to compensate. It was very quiet and even though there were functions on both nights of our stay we were not disturbed by them. The room was very clean with a good choice of complimentary drinks.

Due to a function one evening and Christmas party the next we were unable to use the restaurant, which was disappointing. However, there was an excellent pub called the Golden Fleece across the road, which was so welcoming and the food was decent too. Breakfast is basic but well cooked.

Beautiful building with lovely gardens and space to sit outside. The reception, bar and restaurant areas were nicely decorated and were mainly peaceful. The car park was busy but we still managed to park. All the staff were polite, friendly and accommodating, our room was spotless, bed comfortable and there was plenty of hot water!

Room 7 was dark with no view. The bathroom needs an upgrade, the shower curtain does not extend to the whole length of the small bath. Water also collects along the shelf behind the shower head which floods along the shelf and onto the floor. Extractor fan did not work which meant the whole bathroom got very steamy as there wasn’t a window to open.

Convenient location, within easy walking distance of busy town centre pubs and restaurants, but far away enough to be peaceful and quiet. Lovely quiet garden to the rear with tables for outdoor drinks and alfresco dining weather permitting! Very pleasant, attentive staff on reception and in the bar and restaurant. Comfortable bedroom, with excellent walk in shower/wet room.

Lift only goes to the first floor. Quite expensive bar food, slightly disappointing beef sandwich with wafer thin beef (although plenty of it) in supermarket white sliced bread.

I'm so pleased I chose Fareham, and especially Lysses House Hotel, as my base to explore Portchester, Portsmouth, and Winchester. Equi distance between the above, with excellent public transport options, it makes a great choice. In addition, there are great places to eat and drink in the town, to suit all budgets, including the Lysses Hotel Restaurant. The staff at the hotel are extremely polite, helpful and friendly. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is excellent - setting one up for the rest of the day. Thank you very much indeed team Lysses for making my visit to Fareham and surrounding districts so enjoyable.

The staff were very helpful and accommodating, as they had put myslef and 3 children in a family room, and we had requested the triple room, we were moved immediately, my husband and child were putin a double room and they moved in to the family room. The staff at breakfast were more than happy to make our teenagers a bacon and sausage sandwich for breakfast, which the devoured without complaint. Nice place to go again perhaps without the children next time. lol.

I think the bathroom in the triple room needs upgrading. I found it difficult to manouver to the side of the toilet to reach the taps for the shower and bath, as the young one was having a shower i got drenched turning it on as you have to lean over the toilet to reach the taps.

The room I had was lovely, light and clean. The towels were lovely: soft and smelt divine. The staff really were very polite and courteous. The hotel is well situated.

I think the breakfast was not very good. No fresh fruit on display or fresh juices. The drinks on display were very sweet and the cranberry juice I decided to take just tasted like sweet pink water. It’s a shame as it’s a lovely property with lovely staff but the breakfast was a real let down. My sausages also were not cooked well so had to leave them.

From the time we checked in all staff were so helpful. Friendly receptionist barman and the young waitress at breakfast. The bed was spotlessly clean and so comfortable. The room was quiet and not too hot. Plenty of plugs for our straightners. The breakfast was all served at the table. A full English if desired and we preceeded it with a fruit compote that was so tasty. This is a cosy comfortable and clean hotel and I cannot speak too highly of it. Thankyou
