The abbey grounds are absolutely gorgeous, and there are plenty of tables and chairs outside so that guests can enjoy the natural beauty. It's also wonderfully easy to walk into the town. The high street, the train station, the church, and the Roald Dahl museum and grave are all within an easy walk. The full breakfast was excellent. Lots of options for both hot and continental choices.

Our room was tiny and not very comfortable, unfortunately. We had a bed that was about the size of a twin and a half--not quite a full size, definitely not a queen size--pushed up against a wall with no nightstands on either side. The mattress was hard and we did not sleep very well, despite the fact that it was blissfully quiet at the abbey. There was no storage to speak of--one tiny closet with a few hangers but no shelves. The small room felt even smaller because there was no choice but to have our suitcases splayed out on the floor. I've seen the photos of the rooms on the hotel's website, and the other rooms look more spacious and accommodating. But honestly, we were glad that we were only staying there for one night.

The function rooms, bar, grounds and dining areas were lovely. The staff were consistently excellent. All were happy to do anything for their guests. They produced a wonderful wedding for us. Natasha was particularly brilliant. The rooms in the coach house were very small, so much so that they weren’t completely comfortable. The beds were nowhere near a double. We imagined that in the main house things would be better. The room was bigger, still with a very small bed. The bathrooms were functional and clean. The food was very good.

Small rooms in the coach house, very small beds in both coach house and main house.

I’ve stayed before, or I might have found it confusing. Car park is a long way from Reception so best to park temporarily near front and then move vehicle after checking in. My room was comfortable, clean and pleasant, one of the more recently refurbished rooms this time. Breakfast was excellent. I’ll probably stay again as it’s convenient for a place nearby where I go regularly.

It’s largely a wedding and conference venue. If there’s a wedding it can be noisy and because it’s private you can’t go into the bar area so need to take your own drink. However, the receptionist did offer to get the barman to bring me a drink out (but I’d brought something with me). The music etc packed up at around 11 pm, but because my room overlooked the walkway it was a bit noisy till after 12. It’s worth asking for a room further along if there’s a party going on.

Perfect stop off on the way back from Hampshire to Manchester - hotel is situated near the high street, not far from the Roald Dahl museum. Quiet location and little traffic so its nice to wander down the high street where there is a choice of pubs and restaurants. You can walk the many trails around the village and beyond. Hotel does a very nice self-service breakfast. Very comfortable double bed.

Rooms are small by most modern standards but adequate and as usual only 1 bath towel and 1 medium towel provided - do hotels think couples are going to share bath towels ? Would prefer these to be provided on arrival rather than having to ask every time. Didn't realise the hotel had a bistro so it would help if menus were more visible, we did however enjoy a nice curry in the village restaurant.

It is a beautiful place to stay, it was clean, staff was very friendly. Breakfast was plenty, the round tables are a nice way to get talking to other guest, if you want. It was a pleasant stay for a good price. Thank you.

Fitting the theme of an Abbey, the rooms are small and so was the en-suite so I would be concerned to stay there for more than a couple of nights. Bed was a little hard for my liking.

Staff very friendly and helpful I enjoyed the breakfast The location was good, near a main road into the part of London I needed to visit The room had been repurposed so furniture didn't match the original layout and light switches being away from bed etc once I'd moved things around it worked very well It was warm, clean and comfortable Loved the windows and architecture of the Abbey Hotel building itself

Hard to find in the dark so more road signs would have been helpful It wasn't clear to me on the website that the Coach House could use the bar and get food in the Abbey otherwise I would have bought food there

The staff were outstanding- every single one was friendly, helpful and courteous. The facilities were a little dated but spotlessly clean, fresh linen in the bedroom and bathroom. Good ventilation in the rooms and corridors, which were also very clean. Breakfast was delicious and served with a smile. The grounds were absolutely stunning. Well suited for Weddings, Conferences or a retreat.

I didn't like leaving, it was so peaceful and relaxing, I would have enjoyed a couple more nights.

The staff are professional, polite and friendly. Yes its got (very) small rooms and small beds but sooo much nicer than stayng in a premier inn/travelodge (being similar costs).

Shower room was cramped and old but worked. Breakfast very good but warm, not hot.

Lovely setting, comfy bed, facilities provided were excellent, breakfast lovely and variety very good.

I have mobility issues so being on the first floor was a bit of a struggle, I could have asked for a different room but the place was very busy with wedding reception and prom night party.

Beautiful setting. Super value for money. Excellent breakfast. If I were being very critical I would say that the room was a bit on the small side. However to stay in such a fantastic place for such a reasonable price I have to give it 5 Stars overall! The Town is lovely and well worth a visit.

I liked everything.
