Excellent location, beautiful hotel, exceptional staff. I stayed at the hotel as I was attending a wedding nearby. I wasn’t able to check into my room as I was very early, but the staff were incredibly accommodating in helping me to leave my things in the room and get ready. I rang whilst at the wedding to say we’d be too late to collect the keys, and again, the staff were so helpful and helped us to access the room once we returned. The room was beautiful and I slept very well. At breakfast we were greeted with friendly smiles and a delicious full English breakfast. This hotel restored my faith in the kindness of hotel staff! It really does change the whole experience. Couldn’t fault anything about this hotel.

Bar, very nice with original features and good real beer and food. Rooms obviously recently refurbished to a very high standard (except for lighting). Bathrooms also to a high standard. Location perfect, bang in the centre of town. Good on site parking. Restaurant pricy but good and breakfast choices very good.

Two rooms requested for Mr. and Mrs. but supplied with rooms 5 fire-doors and ten stair steps away! Lighting in the rooms grossly inadequate. Bedside lights good but ceiling light fitted with "mood" bulb with element barely orange. There was no writing desk light at all. At checkout the receptionist seemed aware of this and didn't comment on my complaint. TV not working, poor signal. I didn't complain about these aspects until departure due to my short stay.

Well appointed room, with a comfortable, large bed and a large, clean, en suite bathroom. The room felt very calming and quiet, despite facing the main road, although the lighting could have been brighter as my partner found it difficult to apply make-up etc in the bedroom. Our breakfast was included in the price and was very enjoyable, with a variety of quality food and drink on offer.

Lack of signage for hotel guests on arrival. No separate check-in desk, so needed to wait at the bar to check in. Was not asked during check-in if I had arrived by car so this wasn’t noted (even though this was made clear with the online check-in) and I received a £100 penalty notice a couple of days later for using the hotel car park. I contacted the hotel and the matter was resolved and the ticket rescinded.

Clean and comfy. It’s the little extras that make the stay so nice. Fresh milk. A real coffee machine and pods. Nice quality tea bags. Sloe gin as a help yourself freebie. A fridge with water and milk in and a safe. The breakfast was so well cooked. Poached eggs were perfection and the pastries fresh and delicious. 10/10

We had a disabled room. Ground floor. As three adults in there. The only small gripe would be that the bathroom light is on a sensor not a switch. So go to the loo in the night it woke the others up! Could do with a comfy chair in the room.

We've just returned from a wonderful weekend at The Red Lion in Wendover. A few of us stayed on Friday and Saturday night. The rooms are spacious with all the amenities you'd need from a coffee machine, to some sloe gin for that final final night cap. I'd arranged a family get together and the staff could not have been more helpful. Special thanks to Agga who helped me iron out a few last minute changes on Friday evening, and then Lara for being so brilliant with the family on Saturday lunchtime. Wendover is lovely town, and for those not driving, the station is a 7 minute walk from the station.

A lovely cosy pub with 23 rooms I believe.Our room was a small double and very comfortable.Tea and coffee making facilities and a nice touch is a small fridge on the wall with a large bottle of water which is refilled.Also a little bottle of milk not uht.Nice shower and all shampoo etc are in larger bottles.Staff are very good too.The breakfast was great (was included in the price) plenty of choice and good quality.The full English is excellent!!.

We were looking at the menus and found that the prices were a little too much for us.Thats not a reflection on the food itself.We decided to eat elsewhere.The location is on a high street and can be a little noisy as its a very old building and and no double glazing.But really not too much of an issue

Dinner was very good. We especially liked the number and selection of wines available by the glass and carafe. The room was light, spacious, well equipped and very comfortable.

The first room we had was on the ground floor and on the high street. We asked if we could change to one away from the high street, but were reassured that the noise would not be an issue. Fortunately the TV was not tuned in or tunable, so we were moved to a much better, lighter and quieter room.

I had wanted to stay here for a while and some elements were good, others disappointing. Good ambiance, pleasant enough room, nice staff, very good breakfast, plenty of free parking, which must be registered.

Poor details, only one hanger in wardrobe, dripping shower, curtains couldn't be pulled without pulling off the curtain rings, some of which were already off on arrival. No tissues in room. Dinner in the evening was expensive but disappointing, I had the pork dish, which was bland and uninviting. Carpets in public areas (e.g.stairs) really grubby.

The rooms was fantastic, extremely well done and looked beautiful, exceptional facilities, having a fridge in the room was a bonus. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was delicious, both breakfast and dinner.

The wedding party on Friday night was a bit of a surprise, it would have been nice to have been warned about this when I checked in or when I booked. The music was very loud all evening, however it was quiet after 11pm. The biggest problem was how hot it was in the room, even with the fan on all night it just didn't cool down. A portable air con unit might be a better option than a fan.

Lovely location very near beautiful walks. The room was nicely decorated and we loved the complimentary sloe gin, cookies and great selection of teas and coffees. We ate in the main restaurant and were really impressed with the variety of dishes on offer: not typical pub fare at all. Breakfast was very high quality with hot dishes cooked to order. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Our room was one of the more basic and was a little cramped but fine for a one night stay. The room and most of the others faced the outside drinking/ dining area of the pub which wasn’t a problem for us but perhaps could have been noisy if we had visited on a warm summer’s night.
