Personal attention, friendly smiling service . I had a problem with the shower which was sorted at once. Very comfortable beds. The bedrooms have wonderful balconies with a table and chairs, and we enjoyed sitting out in the evening with a bottle of wine. The food was excellent: on the Saturday night we found the dining room full of people who had come in for the delicious carvery, all you might expect and more, veg properly cooked, not overdone. As for the breakfasts, they were more like brunch, melon, avocado, smoked salmon, full English of course, all top quality. And a good choice of home-mixed cereals, not just the standard packets. We would stay there again.

Personally, being infirm, I found the stairs steep, and there was no lift. But the balcony compensated for that.

Amazing stay at the Chequers Inn. Staff were amazing every single one we had interactions with. They went above and beyond. We ate most of our meals in the bar/restaurant again staff were amazing and accomadating to my meat free requests. Husband said the carvery was the best he has had, meat was perfectly cooked and the chef made me some meat free stuffing. We chose to stay in the king suite, a little treat for our 10th wedding anniversary and it was a gorgeous room, perfectly decorated with a cute little balcony and so quiet which was great being busy parents of 3 boys. Sad to leave be will definitely be back

Set in the countryside with plenty of free parking and a pub and restaurant. The room we stayed in was a small double with a small outside balcony. The room was clean and bright and the shower room looked like it had been refurbished. There was plenty of hot water. Breakfast was cooked to order and there was also a selection of cereals, yogurt and fruit juice. The pub served evening meals, it wasn’t a large menu and was mostly things with chips but the chips appeared to be homemade and the food was well cooked and plentiful. There was a good selection of desserts. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

Apart from not having a choice plain yogurt at breakfast and the room being too small to have two bedside tables there is nothing not to like about this hotel, if you want a basic, reasonably priced hotel near to various attractions with food available on site this is a good choice.

The carvery was fabulous. Meat was tender and the service amazing. The room was spotless. The tea/coffee facilities spot on. Plenty of car parking too Very nice bathroom with complimentary shower and soaps There was a lovely little space outside of the room , where you could take your morning cuppa when the weather improves

On the downside, there was no heating in the bathroom. There were no charging points beside the bed. So you could not use tablet or phone near you in bed. The TV was very small and not placed ideally to watch while in bed. It also had a fault on it.

The Chequers Inn is a hidden gem not too far from Harrogate and Surrounded by beautiful views, the room was equipped with everything you would need and it was probably the most comfortable bed I've stayed in. The food in the pub next door was outstanding and the staff were very helpful, happy and nothing was too much trouble for them. Overall this place exceeded my expectations and was very good value for money, I would highly recommend it and given the chance I would definitely return.

Room was lovely, nice snd clean and tasteful decor, it also had an outside terrace, (nice for relaxing in the evenings)..staff were friendly. Meals were good.

Having to be moved from our chosen restaurant tables twice because 'regulars like to sit there'...well so would we!..we arrived at the tables first and they were not reserved...our money is as good as theirs! We had to sit in a booth which we were not keen on. That's our only gripe. Everything else was great..

Everything was wonderful. We had a lovely, very comfortable and warm bedroom. The staff were do friendly and helpful and couldn’t wait to f do enough for us. We had our evening meal as well as breakfast. Both meals were delicious and we made sure that we complimented the chef. Overall, we thought it was a wonderful visit and we look forward to having an opportunity to visit them again in the future.

Sadly, this modern trend to have no heater in the bathroom leads to a cold bathroom on one of the coldest nights in the year

Welcoming staff, plenty of parking. Attractive super-clean up-to-date room and bathroom with balcony and everything to hand: plenty of tea, coffee milk and biscuits, nice toiletries. Enjoyable evening meal and breakfast in attractively designed restaurant.

Bed felt good at first -but mattress only moderately comfortable. Hooks or stool in bathroom for clothes would be useful. Tempting dessert selection though the lemon cream dessert needed an extra dose of lemon.

My mum is 93 and uses a Rollator. Room No 6 was perfect for her as it is on the Ground Level and although compact there was enough room to move around in. Easy access to Restaurant & Bar facilities on the same level. If you want a walk in shower though this is not the room for you as the shower is over the bath but we did not have that requirement so that was fine. Water pressure was great. Small table and chairs outside room perfect for morning coffee and biscuits from coffee making facilities in the room. Room was also very quiet. Wi-Fi excellent which was important for me as I had a Zoom webinar to attend whilst there. Food was excellent pub food and we ate there every night during our 3 night stay. NB you need to order your food by 8pm. All staff brilliant, welcoming and very hard working despite having a well earned day off at the Ripon races.

Blackout linings would have been a good idea as room got very light in morning. Take an eye mask if this concerns you.

Dinner and breakfasts wee excellent. staff were friendly. meals were served very quickly. the bar and restaurant were nicely decorated. rooms were nice, especially number 8

didn't realise the rooms were separate from the rest of the building and had to go outside . room 5 was more chalet style . room 8 was upstairs and would benefit from enclosed walkway ( and it would keep rooms warmer, thus reducing your heating bills )
