Comfortable bed and hot shower. The breakfast was excellent with top quality ingredients including granola to die for! Used the Terrace restaurant in the evening a couple of times and again the quality of food was top notch. Service in the restaurant was friendly and attentive.

The room was a major let down. It was small, no wardrobe with just a short open rail to hang garments. Wallpaper was peeling off and the bath had several chips. If the rate had been a lot lower I might have expected it but expensive for such poor accommodation. Cleaning was a bit hit and miss - dead flies on window sills remained for the whole stay.

The hotel had been recently refurbished and our room and bathroom were absolutely beautiful. The staff were lovely. The hotel had wonderful location overlooking the sea.

I didnt realize that breakfast wasnt included, and we felt £18 each was too much, as we only wanted fruit and toast. It would have been good to offer a light breakfast option at a lower cost, as we paid £18 each for very little. The prices for dinner were also high, considering it was served in a cafe style restaurant with no tablecloths or fabric napkins. The surroundings didnt feel top end, but the prices were. The food bill ended up doubling the price of our stay more or less, but there were no other options within easy walking distance

Housel Bay Hotel is in a wonderful location perched on the most southerly and dramatic cliffs in Cornwall. Great coast path walks from the front door. The hotel has an upmarket but simple Scandi vibe, its relaxed atmosphere is well supported by its delightful staff who after a weeks stay felt like good friends. Service levels were 5*. Our breakfast choices were good and well presented. We had dinner on five nights of our week stay in the Terrace restaurant which were all very good, although we ate the same dishes more than once due to the slightly restricted menu choices for small appetites.

We found the dinner menu a bit complex and pretentious for our tastes, beyond gastro pub in style. Some areas of the hotel were slightly tired but then we visited at the back end of the season and it was very busy and fully booked. Take cotton wool for ears as the nearby lighthouse fog horn is a feature some nights.

The location is perfect, right on the coast with easy access to the SW Coastal Path and the hotel's own beach. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. My room had a lovely sea view. Maybe a little small and could benefit from a wardrobe. Very clean and a comfortable bed. The restaurants were excellent. I had dinner on four nights in the Terrace. Food was lovely e.g. Fowey mussels and fish (pollack) and chips. I also had the Long Tasting menu in the Fallowfields restaurant, with matching wine. This exceeded my expectations. The courses were imaginative and well executed. A total culinary treat and a highlight of my six day break. What with the comfortable hotel and the sunny late summer Cornish weather I returned home refreshed and ready for a busy September and October. Overall, a fantastic break!

A bit more storage space in room.

Beautifull Hotel in an absolutely fabulous positions .the views were amazing and our room view was stunning. The staff were super friendly and helpfull always polite and smiling .room was clean spacious and tidy .very much worth a stay .

Only thing that could of been better was the choice of menu in the terrace restaurant.being a vegetarian who dosnt eat fish either there were only two dishes I could have . Also there was an issue with plumbing and although we were moved quickly to another room it wasn't the same standard of room .it didn't dampen our visit too much but could of been avoided if a maintenence person was on site .

Location, location, location! The view from the garden of the hotel is absolutely stunning, whatever the weather! When it's stormy, with the waves crashing day and night, it's breathtaking. The south west coast path runs right by the garden of the hotel, and has far-reaching views around the cliff tops. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean. If you find stairs a bit problematic, they've got a small lift, which takes one passenger at a time. Breakfast always provided something lovely, although in the way of cereal there's only granola, rather than the usual cornflakes, rice crispies etc. The buttermilk pancakes with natural yoghurt and fruit compote were absolutely delicious, as were the cooked breakfasts. The dining area of the hotel gives panoramic views out onto Housel Bay itself; there's The Snug for a cosy drink any time of day, with squashy sofas and lots of of throws in case you feel a little chilly. Staff were very friendly and helpful at all times, Our room, no. 25, is called a "Country View" but you can still catch a glimpse of the sea and the bay. We were a bit surprised by the very large, low lampshade, and that there wasn’t much storage space; but the walk-in shower was lovely. Every night the lighthouse starts up, but won't disturb you if you close the blinds; and occasionally the foghorn will sound, but with the window closed, it's barely noticeable. All in all it's a really place, and we hope to be going again very soon!

Only a couple of slight niggles really - our room had a standard double bed in it, and it felt a little short after having a king-size bed at home. But it was very comfortable all the same. The large, low lampshade was placed a little awkwardly over the end of the bed. And a couple of extra hangers would have been useful. I have a feeling the room would get very hot in summer, as the window only opens a tiny amount. But these are minor things, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone.

Fantastic hotel. Staff are very friendly and inviting. They really can't do enough for you. The location is stunning, especially when you sit in the window in the 'snug' room. The rooms are decorated to a high standard. The restaurant serves wonderful food. It's like fine dining but in a more relaxed and comfortable environment. Breakfast was also exceptional.

The lampshade in the bedroom is ridiculous. It's far too big and too low and takes over the room. I also think blackout blinds for the bedroom windows would be an idea due to the lighthouse. The light didn't keep me awake but I can imagine it would keep light sleepers awake.

Breakfast was very good. Restaurant food was good but a bit lacking in choice. I stayed 2 nights, if it was 3 then I don't know what I would have had. Room very clean and bathroom very modern. Friendly staff. Car park only just big enough. Location is excellent for walking. Right on the coast path. Nice to see the Lizard lighthouse from the bedroom window but not so great when the fog horn went at night!!!

I booked a small double and it was. Luggage storage would have been an issue if there was 2 people. Why was an alcove built in the bathroom shower for shampoo etc - that was more than 5ft off the floor? Very odd having to reach up to it. Who decides that 4 scatter cushions on a bed are a good idea? They just get thrown on the very limited floor space. Also, who thinks it is a good idea to put a sheet of patterned paper on a dinner plate and then put the food on top. It get cut to shreds when cutting food and gets mixed up with it. This is a triumph of some trendy design over functionality!

The location was perfect and we loved our sea view room. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I've had, everything tasted delicious. The evening meals which we booked were also equally as good so I would definitely recommend the food at Housel Bay hotel. The staff were also lovely, helpful and friendly.

The only thing we did really didn't like was the bed, it was far too hard for us making it very difficult to sleep so we probably wouldn't come back just because we didn't get a decent nights sleep over the 3 days that we stayed, a great shame as everything was lovely.

Fantastic location, friendly and helpful staff and very welcoming. The terrace offers an amazing view of the bay for breakfast etc. Our stay was really enjoyable, our only criticism is the actual room we stayed in, although clean, it certainly needs updating. Breakfast offered excellent choice, couldn't fault it.

Room was quite small, and needs updating e.g. Rusty bath rail, stained sink, old furniture. Mattresses of the 2 single beds pushed together were too soft and springy - a general feeling of everything being quite old and tired. The partial sea view was really just a glimpse as we overlooked the car park, not an issue but not quite a partial sea view as described.
