Breakfast was not available. The room was clean and comfortable and well stocked. We were at the front so had some noise from late drinkers - only to be expected. And early morning traffic. We liked the town very much and only had a 10-15 mins walk into Huntingdon where there were more eating options. Location good for the river and other walks.

Availability of breakfast. The 'cafe' recommended was a take-away with a couple of tables outside which not so great if the weather poor. There are a couple of small supermarkets in the town so making purchases there was an option.

Clean and comfortable, perfect for an overnight stay to break up a long drive. Note the rooms are quite small, so best only to take a small overnight bag rather than a case. We particularly liked that the rooms are named after local historic events and the stories are displayed in the rooms, a unique touch. We stayed in Pathfinder and Epsilon rooms. Having grown up nearby, I hadn’t realised there was so much history associated with this small village! So our short stay turned out to be quite educational! We also ate dinner here and whilst the menu is standard pub fare, it tasted very fresh and was nicely presented. As it was a beautiful sunny evening, we were able to enjoy the lovely beer garden followed by a relaxing walk along the river to Godmanchester locks.

Rooms are quite small but ok for overnight stay. Breakfast is not included, but we were aware of this when booking. Check before booking in case there are any functions scheduled, in case you are sensitive to noise.

There is no breakfast, but we highly recommend the Grand Piano Café in Godmanchester High Street, next to Thelma's Flowers. The rooms are very clean, well-equipped and everything in good working order. A hair-dryer and ironing board are available on request. Lovely owners; very friendy.

Even a continental breakfast would be something! However, as the Black Bull delivered in so many other ways, we didn't see this as a deal-breaker. The food is fab, but we would have liked a bit more choice on the night we stayed. We understood that the usual chef had an injury and there was a large function in the function room (a separate building) though.

The photos of the Black Bull do not do it justice. Godmanchester is one of the most beautiful, historic towns in Cambridgeshire, dating back to the Goths and Romans, and the Inn itself a historic coaching Inn with stables and garden to the rear. Our room, The Stirling named after an aircraft which crash-landed in Godmancherster in WWII, was large, comfortable and very nicely decorated. Food was only available in the evenings, but there were multiple charming cafes and restaurants to choose from within 5mins walk. Dinner was very good, lots of choice and low-key entertainment and special evenings in the Bar several nights a week. Even though the rooms are directly above the bar, things quieten down at around 9:30-10pm so there were no issues with noise any of the 5 nights we stayed. Wifi was superfast which was great for work as there was no difficulty with video calls or screen-sharing. We will definitely be back and are already looking forward to our next stay and exploring more of the beautiful Fenlands and waterways around Godmanchester.

We were very happy with everything!

We found the pub easily enough, check-in was straightforward and they were serving dinner that evening so we ate there. The staff were friendly, the portions large (esp. the children's), and tasty. Although our room was in the main building it was much quieter than other pubs I've stayed in with similar arrangements. Although the room was small, the bed was really comfortable.

We didn't get the wi-fi working properly. The hot water in the bathroom was scalding so you had to be very careful with having enough cold feeding into it.

Family and dog friendly pub. Was refreshing to see families playing card games and having a lovely time. Staff were lovely and friendly. The room was lovely and clean, could do with a bigger TV.

The room I was in was opposite their function room and the music was ridiculously loud. I did message the pub, my message was read but no reply. If other rooms were empty, it would have been better being placed somewhere else. I'd been travelling for 4 hours and wanted an early night ready for my day ahead.

Very easy when checking in and communication prior to arrival was good too. When checking out the staff were relaxed and friendly. We had an electric fan in our room which was most welcome although we didn't use it all the time. We were made to feel welcome.

The bed in our room (Cromwell) was extremely soft. My husband mentioned there was no plug for the sink when he was shaving so he used soap to block the plug. I did not notice. The emergency light in the room was very bright however we realise it may be a requirement. Perhaps more thought needs to be given to its positioning as it took me a while to get off to sleep and I did awake a couple of times during the night.

Its location was perfect: near the river and all facilities in a beautiful, quiet small town. The history of this property, previously a coaching inn, was presented in an interesting way. The rooms were named after historic events which happened locally. The building itself was quirky and full,of character. The rooms were well equipped and had comfortable beds. Its location was perfect: near the river and all facilities in a beautiful quiet little town with many historic buildings.

An additional stair rail would have helped in one of the passages, especially when you're carrying a suitcase.

Location, onsite parking, historic building with high end luxury touches. Staff welcoming, check in a breeze with separate exit and entrance. Super comfortable bed, feather duvet, soft towels, powerful shower and tea and coffee. As part of the building is 300 years old the size of the room or stairs might not suit everyone.

A little early 09.00 check out. To be honest I didn't enquire about a later check out time.

Great location and as always the friendly staff. Room and en-suite very clean. Bed is a small double (as advertised) and soft but comfy! Tea making facilities in the room.

We have stayed in the small double ‘Cromwell room’ previously and the window used to open but on this occasion we couldn’t get it open. It looks as if the window had recently been refurbished and we assume it will open, just needs a little force but we didn’t want to, given the pub had closed when we got back in the evening having been out with friends in the village. Breakfast is no longer an option, which is understandable and isn’t a problem as there are some nice cafes locally.
