Lovely old pub in the heart of Keswick. The rooms were nicely decorated, styled and were clean. The bathroom had nice quality toiletries. The window opened which is always a bonus as hotel rooms can get very stuffy. There was no fridge in the room but fresh milk was provided easily on request at the bar. We collected it as we went to bed and it was provided in a small flask. As i had a room for myself I had booked a small double. This was great for one person but wouldn’t have been great for two although it would have been manageable for a night or two. It was a really nice room in a great pub and couldn’t have been better located. Breakfast was really nice too although there were a couple of confusions over the orders with the staff which they put right immediately.

Nothing.

Location is fabulous. Staff is gracious, helpful, and available.Room is very clean. Quiet when windows are closed (in evening). Restaurant provides a small thermos of cold milk for tea in the room- just ask. Loading area next to side door of hotel is convenient for dropping or collecting luggage. Carparks and free parking on nearby streets. Light and bright, nice window seat. Excellent generous breakfast.

Pretty small. Our room #4 was about 9’x15’. However, a corner of the room contained the small bathroom, therefore the room didn’t have much room for luggage. No closet or drawers, just a wooden hanging rack with a shelf on bottom, also holding the folded towels. The shower was triangular with rounded sliding doors allowing @ 16” to squeeze inside. Very limited movement.

Everything. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and prepared to go the extra mile to help. The room was nice and everywhere was clean and tidy. The beds were very comfortable and we both had a good nights sleep. We had dinner and again the service and food were excellent. There is a good choice of food without being too much. Altogether, we could not fault the Royal Oak and will definitely be visiting again and would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family.

There was nothing about the hotel we did not like - it was excellent. The only thing I would ask them to do is give directions for walking from the car park to the hotel. They say it is only 3 minutes walk but not knowing Keswick we didn't know where to go and ended up taking a much longer route up a sleep hill.

I have to say first impressions were great the lady in the bar area was very welcoming when we arrived. After completing a long walk around the Derwent Water before we arrived she was happy to let us sit and relax with a drink before showing us to our room. We decided to have our evening meal in the restaurant as it was lovely, warm and welcoming and has a good range of food and drinks on offer. There was a little mix up over our order, both the starters and mains were delivered to the table at the same time, but it was quickly rectified by the lovely dark haired lady who we met earlier on check in. Apologies, I didn't get her name. The food was lovely, I opted for the Olives and Fish Mongers plate, it was delicious and my husband had the Pork and black pudding scotch egg and the Steak Pie. We had breakfast included in the room rate. again we received a very warm welcome from the staff. There is a great choice of options form fruit and yogurt and cereal to full cumbrian breakfasts or even Eggs Benedict. It is ideally located on the hight street and close to all amenities. Whilst there is no direct parking at the hotel there are pay and display just a few minutes walk away in all directions. Would definitely consider staying again when we are next in the area or even just call i

Unfortunately for us, the bed was a little too soft for our taste so we didn't sleep great. But this is a personal preference, not the owners fault. We were in room 20 and quite near the stairs so we could hear a lot of noise when people were turning to their rooms and exiting in the morning. But again, I think that is the nature of the building. We were supplied with eye masks and ear plugs in the room if we needed them. He heard no noise at all from outside it was lovely and quiet throughout the night.

The breakfast and bar food menu was excellent, as was the service. The Royal Oak is perfectly situated in the pedestrianised town square, with easy access to all amenities. We have stayed there over 10 times and can't wait to go back.

Our room was very spacious and comfortable, however the shower cubicle is awful. Very tight to access and the floor is seriously slippy. The en-suite is large enough to accommodate a better cubicle. Sort it out Royal Oak

This is a great hotel we stayed one night with 1 dog the hotel from top to bottom was immaculate and one of the cleanest hotels we have stayed in with great decor and quirky features. The location is perfect in the square what made the stay even better was the staff probably nicest staff I have encountered in a hotel from the lady who checked us in and showed us to our room to the friendly breakfast staff who even made basil the dog a bowl of sausages for breakfast! Can't fault the place and will be our 1st choice when we return

Nothing everything was 5 star

Decor was lovely. White Company toiletries in the bathroom was such a lovely touch. Perfect town centre location. Yummy breakfast and very dog friendly 🐶

Could have been cleaner. The glasses in our bathroom were not clean and there were a few hairs here and there in the shower. The only issue with it being a town centre location and a room facing the street was the deliveries at 6am, was very loud and struggled to get back to sleep afterwards.

Breakfast was amazing, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were very dog friendly We booked an evening meal and the pie was the best we had ever had 😀. The whole hotel had a lovely feel to it and we would definitely return.

We booked a small double which was very small but had everything you needed for a one nights stay and was decorated beautifully. Bathroom was a little dated but adequate for what we needed. I would recommend a larger room for longer stays.

A super location and wonderful room. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We loved that it was dog friendly.

I’d searched for an accessible room and this place came up. Unfortunately there were stairs everywhere, and even in the bedroom to get to the bathroom. I’d suggest updating your listing. Parking was tricky too but fortunately we could park on the street with the disabled badge,

very comfortable hotel - good location, lovely staff and excellent breakfast.

clear instructions on car parking would be helpful - there are short term and long term nearby but the staff didn't know what was what. They clearly dont iuse teh car parks - but that's unhelpful and causes confusion and frustration. Also there is an unloading bay beside the rear of the hotel on the one way system - it would have been nice to know this.
