Staff were super friendly & went out of their way for us, literally getting some pudding for us after the kitchens had closed as we'd had a rubbish meal elsewhere that night. The 1 night we ate at the hotel, it was really lovely. Roaring log fire, always a bonus too

I'm sure I booked a "better room" & I think we were given a very basic room. It was clean & OK but we needed a bigger bed than a double which is why i upgraded to better room at the time of booking. Lighting was very poor, couldn't see to put my make-up on so hubby had to rig up a torch

Fantastic location opposite the beach. The room was large and comfortable with all necessary amenities. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast and dinner were great, a lot of choice and very well prepared. The common areas (living room and bistro) seem to have been recently renovated and were gorgeous. Great to have an EV charger in the parking.

The rooms in the main building were slightly outdated. The main dining room is charmless, a vast empty space with tables. It’s not as welcoming as the rest of the hotel spaces.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. The comfortable room was much better than we expected as we were upgraded - we had a great view of the sea / beach from our bed! The included breakfast was extremely good, with a really wide choice of cooked and cold options. When we dined at the restaurant the food was at least as good as that served by any hotel we have stayed at and there was a decent choice from 2 menus (you could choose food from either the 'main' menu of the 'bistro' menu - even 'mix and match'). We have to make special mention of the table service staff, who were lovely, both at breakfast and dinner.

Not their fault... but the lounge was 'out of action' while it was being re-decorated - just 'luck of the draw' we guess, but a shame nonetheless. I was disappointed that they did not advertise / advise me of the EV charger they had, because (due to there not being one listed in the booking and a distinct lack of public fast charging in the area) I had decided to take our other little petrol car to be safe. (fellow EV drivers out there will appreciate my disappointment!)

Fantastic staff ,good location, excellent food

I’m being very picky but our unit no 11 showed signs of wear and tear. Carpet by entrance fraying, ceiling hatch paint flaking and bath panel broken and pushed in. Surfaces had not been wiped down with sand on the coffee table and tea stains around the tea making area. Bathroom floor made from pebbles visually attractive but very impractical, hard to keep clean and uncomfortable to walk on in bare feet. None of which spoiled our stay

the helpfulness of the staff was above normal, helping with cases and answering any questions , Breakfast was excellent , Not eating fish myself ( allergies) I found dinner menu short of meat options.

I do not like a menu when you pay extra for vegetables, this should be included in the main meal. Paying £6 for a small bowl of greens to add to your none greens dish meal not the thing to do.

This was a lovely hotel and it is hard to beat the location in north Norfolk. The room was comfortable and a good size. I asked for a quiet room and we got that as we were in the part called the Herb Garden which is just a short walk from the main hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, you could not ask for a better set of staff. Breakfast was a treat, a good size English breakfast that filled us up for the day. The car park was very large and we could park within a couple of metres of our room.

I marked the hotel down because of one item. I appreciate that this is what is called a 'boutique hotel' but the choice of food for the evening meal was poor. A very short choice of main meal, this was not helped on one evening when the best choice (in my opinion) of Gressingham Duck was not available as they had run out. This was at 7pm in the evening! To be fair the food when it arrived was well cooked and delicious but a greater choice is necessary.

Classy, elegant yet unpretentious. Rooms just had those extra touches that make the difference (e.g coffee machine rather than freeze dried tubes of Nescafé) - shampoo and conditioner in large containers rather than a combined plastic tube. Still water in the room (and on leaving). Excellent freshly cooked breakfast and amazing buffet. And then there is the staff - so friendly yet totally professional and helpful. Great wi-fi (always a bonus) - easy parking - just lovely!

There wasn’t anything to not like

The location was excellent. The people were very friendly and hospitable. The breakfast was exceptional! There was a lovely lounge area with a real fire to relax in. We were very lucky to be upgraded to a room in the main building.

There was some extremely loud noises both mornings for a while. A tiny pot of peanuts was £3 which was excessive. This would npt stop me from staying again.

The hotel was really attractive and comfortable .Breakfast excellent.Staff excellent. we asked to be moved after our first night as our room, although VERY comfortable and cosy , was too noisy ! We were moved to a shepherds hut which was excellent in all ways. Amazing experience !

Apart from having a noisy bedroom ( which was resolved) nothing could have been improved. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay immensley thank you very much . We would definitely stay again.

Lovely location, given a free upgrade as it was our anniversary. Staff all excellent. Breakfast superb. Evening meal very good and beautifully presented.

Had a problem with the toilet cistern, but that can happen at any time. Nobody's fault. Wine by the bottle very expensive. Better value by the glass. Waiter in bar did not know what a Fino was. Explained it was a dry sherry. Would have thought in a 4* hotel, he would have know this..
