Location is the best. On the doorstep of the Natural History, Science and V&A Museums. Kensington, Knightsbridge, Chelsea and Notting Hill; all nearby and accessible by public transport. Exceptionally clean, bed really comfy and heating lovely and toasty in extreme cold. I don't have breakfast as too many tempting options nearby and I usually skip to lunch. Couldn't rate this hotel highly enough. Staff are friendly and supportive.

Nothing. Great place.

The location is without doubt, wonderful for sightseeing in London especially the fine museums of South Kensington. Although my room was basic, it was very clean with a comfortable bed and good size TV. The essentials are provided for (tea, coffee, toiletries etc) and if you need more, just ask. The staff are exceptional. Friendly and professional and make you feel safe and in good hands. I highly recommend this hotel for good value for money.

For me, it was perfect. Basic, very clean, comfortable bed, brilliant location, with a nice cup of tea to watch the TV in the evening.

The location is second to none for London. On the doorstep of the Natural History Museum, and Queensbury Place; you feel the French vibes of this little quarter, nestled on the perimeter of Knightsbridge. Kensington and Chelsea are literally down the road. The Royal Albert Hall is about a 10 minute walk. Good transport for further afield. Basic room but spacious and very clean with a comfortable bed.

All good

Location of where the hotel is brilliant right by the museums. Me and my daughter stayed and will definitely return. The staff were helpful. We dropped out luggage off to be kept in storage as we arrived early before check in. We also used the storage after checking out so we could still go round London then pick up our bags prior to departing. The rooms are lovely tall ceiling Victorian styled rooms but with modern twist. Bed was comfy shower was splendid. Air con in the rooms plenty of towels. I've recommended to my parents as they are now looking to book up at the Gainsborough. Also was very lucky we received a balcony room right on the front.

No fridge. Most hotels don't have but when warm outside I think all should get one so can keep cold drinks

This place isn’t talked about enough… stayed here whilst I was working for one night. One of the most convenient locations in London, 4 minute walk to South Kensington tube station, and minutes away from the museums. stayed in the double room, very grand tall ceilings, insanely comfortable bed, the heated bathroom floor was such a bonus, plus a large shower with fantastic water pressure. really friendly staff, who let me leave my luggage there on the day I was leaving with no issues. and the price!! stayed in a double room for £85, which is absolutely insane. the hotel seems to have undergone a mass refurbishment, but previous reviews from its original state unfortunately still remain online.

only thing I can think to complain about is the room doors. there’s quite a gap underneath the door, which I was afraid was going to be an issue with noise from the hallway, so I covered it up with a towel. but fortunately no noise woke me in the night. my door also had some trouble closing shut, but after attempting to manipulate the latch a little bit I managed to sort it out. possibly something to look into by management? (Room 102)

Helpful staff, great room, great location for the museums. I will definately rebook when next in town.

The room was recently remodeled, but there was a lack of thought about a few things in the bathroom. The toilet stuck out so far from the wall that the door would not fully open. The sink was also placed such that it partially blocked the door. I am not a large person, but to enter the bathroom and access the toilet, I needed to open the door, reach in and open the shower, side step into the room and partially enter the shower, close the door and then and only then could I access the toilet. I cannot imagine how someone with a larger frame or higher BMI would perform this.

+ the location was amazing, close to everything central and a great selection of restaurants near the hotel, I tried most of them and all served delicious meals + the room was mostly comfortable, small but enough for one person + I appreciated daily cleaning of the room, and little details like having a tea corner and updated bottled water

- tiny wash basin, it was impossible to even wash my hands comfortably - rather noisy in the room: I could hear the person upstairs walking every time, and people walking past the room cos it was just at the stairs, but it’s a usual problem for most old European buildings; the AC was also very loud, but it needed to be on to have air and warm the room - just unlucky I guess but my room’s door had a half broken lock, I needed to hit the door very hard to close it and it was really uncomfortable every day

Excellent location, five mins from South Kensington Tube Station and the Natural History Museum. Bedroom was a good size with a large TV and coffee and tea facilities. Good water pressure in the shower. Comfortable bed. Aircon kept the room at a nice temperature too. Food and drinks are available at the sister hotel across the road. All in all an excellent budget hotel stay.

Bathroom was a bit cosy, but fine for the price of the room. Lift was small too, only really room for one or two people at a time, but again not really an issue. The bedside lights used dimmers and were a bit 'buzzy', so were a bit distracting when reading in bed.

When we arrived we were greeted warmly. We were there before check in so were allowed to stow our bags and came back a couple of hours later. At check in we were informed there was a problem with our room and we were upgraded to a Deluxe room for the night for free. We were also given a free breakfast the next day. The deluxe room was huge (even had a couch in it!) and we were given complimentary prosecco and glasses in an ice bucket. When we were moved to our own room the next day it was smaller (as expected) but still clean and tidy and had a little balcony. The area was wonderful, close to the museums (less than 5 min walk to Natural History museum), tube stations and lots of bars/restaurants. The area was quiet and up scale and felt very safe. The staff were amazing, very accomodating without being intrussive. When we had a problem with the tv a manager came and sorted it straight away and when I explained our coloured pillow cases on the bed (both me and my partner have fashion colours in our hair that can run when freshly done and we didn't want to ruin the hotel's white pillowcases/towels) he assured me it wasn't a problem even if we did and that he just wants us to be comfortable (and that he knew what we were talking about as he used to have wild hair colour as well), how lovely is that?

My only negative really would be the fact we got clean towels etc every day. This was not necessary and we ended up with quite a big pile of unused/clean towels in the closet by the end of our 5 day trip. It would be better for the environment and the costs of the hotel if the option to not replace towels/sheets each day was given!

My room was comfortable and adequate for me. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The main hotel areas were clean and well presented. I had a lovely espresso martini in the bar. Bar staff very friendly. Breakfast was quite good. Not what I'd expected but tasty and fine. And I received two gluten free rolls. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Shower is rather small. Breakfast staff began clearing away several minutes before 10.30 .
