Second time in this place, so that tells the story already. You cannot beat the location of this place, perfect for Westend weekends. The room we got this time was much better than before, spacious and luminous. Whichever room you get, this place has one of the best price to value ratios in London.
The top floor bathrooms were all slightly wonky. The toilet closest to our room had no sink, and the other toilet was constantly clogged. The shower closest to our room had no lock in the door and the other one had no shower curtain. The top bunks of the bunk beds had no proper railings, so the mattress could've slowly slipped off.. and my stuff on the bed certainly fell down many times during the nights. So shelving to keep your belongings next to the bed would be much appreciated.

This hotel was perfectly-placed for getting to the train and Hop on Hop off busses. The room had just enough space. Everything was quite clean.
This hotel was perfectly-placed for getting to the train and Hop on Hop off busses. The room had just enough space. Everything was quite clean. The space in the toilet room was cramped, and there was nothing to dry hands with if you had not brought a towel from your room. And it would not be THAT difficult to put a mirror over the sink-- and it would have been a huge convenience. We were glad for some internet connection, but it only worked if we stayed in the stairwell between the 2nd and 3rd floor-- not at all in our 3rd floor room. Knowing that was the case, we were not happy at being told we could not stand in that area to make the necessary plans online for the next day. But we survived.

A room with a view of park reclaimed from the traffic. Ideal for bus connections both north and south of the river. The bedroom was self contained and quiet . In good vicinity for cafes and shops . For some unknown reason adjacent to the front were 4 coffee cafes in row the best being cafe Nero.
I wouldnt advise anyone with a disability to use this hotel . No lift ,parts of stair hand rail were covered in hardboard and the between shower and floor quite high. But again really happy with my stay there !

The strand was an amazing place. It wasn't luxury - but it provided a good value for money bed right in the West End. Owner is a friendly guy. Staff all were happy and easy to work with. It's a tragedy that they were not able re renew the lease. London is the poorer as a result of the loss of this hotel!
I loved everything about the Strand. I am depressed by it's closure.

Love the fact that even if I stayed in a dormitory I had a single bed (not a bunk bed), plus I was lucky enough as the two nights I spent there were pretty quiet with just a few guests. I appreciated the tap & mirror in the room and the toilet very close to the dormitory entrance.
Luckily I did not carry much luggage as the dormitory is on the 6th floor with no lift and very steep stairs. Also, the mattress and pillow were a bit dirty with old spots.

This hotel does exactly what it says on the tin. It's incredibly central, a very good price for its location, and while it's all very small and tightly packed inside, its clean, staff are friendly, and it does what you need it to do – it's a bed in Central London.
Fix that *really* strong hinge on your door as you go up the stairs! :)

Location, location, location, that's what Strand Continental is all about. You are right in the middle of everything when you stay there! Easy to get to and easy to go anywhere else. Will definitely recommend it.
There's a lot of stairs going to the bedrooms and there's no elevator/escalators or any sort, so I cannot recommend Strand Continental to people with mobile disabilities of other sort of moving impairments.

10 / 10 spot location wise 👌- everything was near by, and convinient for our stay. We had booked originally to go to the Lyecum Theatre, so was in the perfect location Bed was comfy just what we needed after a long day soft and clean bedding. Kettle & tea / coffee in the room. Sink / mirror & plenty of cupboard space, you can buy your own food too, and eat it at the hotel resturant, which is open 24/7 staff were friendly cant fault them. Even let us leave our luggage till we was ready to leave town. If you are using the shower take flipflops, as the double room we had was shared bathroom facilities & can get abit slippy without shoes on the way back from your room. Double room is bigger than it looks on pics in person which was a bonus, can't moan for the price! Cant comment on breakfast as we ate out.
Windows need some seal on them & a longer curtain to cover window - was a little cold at night with the draft. I'd suggest changing shower curtain and pole in shower, looks abit rusty & old.

Staff were amazing, very friendly and understanding. I had an issue with the keys deposit as I was receiving a payment at 4 pm (which I could prove as I had evidence) so at the moment of the check in I was missing the extra 10 pound for the key deposit. Now I checked in at 3 pm so I could have easily waited outside for an hour but they've let me in (for the record at 4:01 I was at the reception paying what I owed).
The stairs are horrible. If you have a heavy luggage I recommend paying a bit extra and book the lowest floor possible. On a positive note, when I was leaving a member of staff saw me struggling with my luggages and helped me.

I liked the ease of getting to there it is really close to the station and check in was a breeze. The rooms were clean and just what I needed for a nights rest.. nothing fancy just essential. Walking through to my room i passed the restaurant that was noisy. However getting to my room it was peaceful and quiet.
It was a bit cold. And there wasn’t anyway to heat it up - that being said the duvet was warm and cozy so it balanced it out. Also the plugs wrens near the bed. That’s me being picky but I do would have like to have my phone near me. And lastly, there wasn’t any Wi-Fi that reached the bedrooms.
