La Gaffe - Bed and Breakfast

Easy to access to central London, staffs are very friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good, rooms were clean. I'm very satisfied, will come back for sure.

There was a hill from the station. I recommend you to use Uber if you carry a huge luggage.

Wonderful location in Hampstead. Stayed in a single room-very compact but very functional. I was working during the stay and the Wifi was excellent. Love the cappuccino or latte in the mornings! Bonus that there’s a lovely Italian restaurant downstairs so I don’t have to go out to eat in the evenings if I’m feeling lazy. And the food is so very good! The staff is friendly and helpful. This is my third stay….one of my favorite places in London. Not a luxury hotel but a clean, comfortable, friendly place to stay.

La Gaffe is in a great location in Hampstead, just a few minutes walk up the hill from the Hampstead underground station and within walking distance of Hampstead Heath. Staff here were so friendly and welcoming. My double room was a good size for me. There was a small desk and some hanging space and a drawer for clothes. There was a kettle in the room and an iron available for use. I loved the windows that I could open for some fresh air, although being on the main road, this was quite noisy. Ear plugs were provided. The included breakfast was very welcome to start the day. Being on the northern line of the underground was so handy. It was easy to get anywhere in London that I needed to go.

Although only a short distance from the station, it's all uphill and over some uneven footpaths, which was a challenge with a heavy suitcase. This was not a huge problem for me, but might be for some.

We love staying in Hampstead. La Gaffe is close to public transportation. Great shower, friendly staff, good breakfast.

The bedroom was very small, so it was challenging to store 2 suitcases. The location is on a busy, narrow street, making it hard to unload luggage from a car (you’ll either need to pull up onto the sidewalk or, better yet, turn the corner off the main road). Street parking is practically nonexistent, but there is a parking lot in Swiss Cottage, about a 25 minute walk away.

The staff at La Gaffe were extremely attentive and respectful. On arrival the young man, who checked us in carried my bag upstairs to the room for me. The beds were comfortable and the facilities in the room were good. The shower was easy to operate and the cubicle was extremely roomy with a very useful shelf inside for putting your toiletries. During our stay the weather was extremely hot but there was a powerful ceiling fan in our room. Our bedroom was at the front of the hotel and as a result was very noisy but I really liked how this situation was mitigated by the provision of ear plugs. Breakfast was continental and the coffee was delicious. The location of the hotel was excellent and being right in the centre of Hamstead Village we had an excellent range of pubs and restaurants close to hand. I'm not sure if this is a regular occurance, but we went to a super little market in the Community hub with stalls of lovely knick-knacks, beautiful jewellry, clothes and accessories. There was lots to do in Hamstead.

Nothing to dislike.

The room, though small, was well-appointed and adequate for my sister and I. It was lovely to wake up to an excellent cappuccino (or plain coffee or tea) and the generous breakfast that include croissants, various breads and rolls for toast, fruit and juice, various cereals, cold cuts and hard boiled eggs. All of the staff were gracious and good-humored. It was lovely getting to know Lorenzo.

Our room fronted the street which is the main throughway and therefore it was very noisy with windows open. There are two flights of narrow stairs which were not a hardship for us since Giuseppe and Lorenzo were on hand to carry bags when we arrived and departed.

The staff is genuinely friendly and accommodating, they provide fantastic service, an excellent & filling daily Continental Breakfast is included, and all in a superb location with clean & comfortable rooms in Hampstead near an Underground Station. Lorenzo is the best. He quickly responds to any questions or concerns you may have. I highly recommend staying at this quaint & charming historic inn!

There wasn't anything I didn't like!! As long as you can climb a few stairs, you'll be fine. There isn't a lift in this former historic shepherd's cottage, so please expect to carry your luggage to your room. I didn't mind any of that, so it worked out fine.

The owner is exceptionally friendly. When my son came down with a bit of a cold he offered us some lemon infused honey in order to assist. Also our welcome was very pleasing and I would recommend the hotel. The hotel is exactly as described and it met all the expectations. The village is really very nice and easy to walk around

I was looking forward to the restaurant being open for dinner. The walk from the tube, whilst not far, is uphill and a little challenging (but not insurmountable (but explained exactly on the website). I felt that a little variety in breakfast would assist greatly.

I don't understand the low reviews about this place. I couldn't have had a better stay. From the moment I walked in the door the staff was welcoming, super friendly, and incredibly helpful. I felt very at home and if that's what you're looking for this is the place. The room I had was small but perfect for a solo traveler like myself. The staff make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. It was clean, fairly quiet even with other guests, and the room was cozy and the bed was very comfortable. It's surrounded by amazing pubs, restaurants, cafe's, grocers and cute stores. It's a simple 5 mins walk to the tube station and easy to walk around and get back to the hotel. Most importantly, I still can't speak highly enough of the staff. I had a small emergency and they couldn't have been more helpful and went well out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. If you are looking for a quaint, family run, bed and breakfast type place please go here. The staff alone make it worth it along with the location and convenience of everything around you.
