Lovely friendly and helpful staff in the pub and hotel areas. Super comfy bed, lots of hot water in a well stocked bathroom. Decent size room with window you can open and control over the heating. They provide nice touches like a proper coffee maker, kettle and complimentary drinks, chocolates. Breakfast was good too, quality ingredients, well prepared and cooked to perfection. I would definitely stay there again. The price was comparable to the big chains but they offer a lot more for the same price.

After 11pm you have to press a bell to get in. While this is good for security, we had to wait a good 5 mins for someone to open the door. Does the bell work properly?

This is written under my hubbys name given the account we are signed into. I travelled alone and the staff, the welcome.. wow. How lovely, none stop smiles. I was made to feel like I was welcomed. The room was lovely, an amazing clean smell from the corridor, warm and comforting room. Just perfect for me and all that I needed (actually more than enough) as a lone female guest for a short overnight stay.. and a hairdryer!. Complimentary water, tea and coffee and a proper bottle of milk in the fridge a not tiny UHT milk 12ml pot that don’t make a dent in a much needed milky coffee. Well done .. I was able to make proper coffee Having stayed in many a hotels over the the years including ‘posh’ hotels during my travels, I have to say with a hand on heart that this is the best nights sleep I have ever had in any UK hotel. The bed, the pillows, the glazing to thwart the London traffic noise. It was just perfect for me and this will be my first choice hotel again if I’m in the Southbank area. Breakfast included.. self service for cereals, coffee juices and alike and a hot menu including full English - my fave which I had and I enjoyed The staff are so lovely and thank you for looking after me. I think Dan made sure I was supplied with flat white in the bar before return home journey. I will definitely be back

Nothing. I cannot make anything up to fulfill this requirement to complete this box ticking exercise.

We hit the jackpot with this hotel. Loved everything about it. Nice, warm and cozy room, friendly and helpful staff, many complimentary treats in the room, great location very close to Waterloo station. Had an evening meal there which was lovely, as was the breakfast which had a great variety for vegans/vegetarians. The pub itself had a nice ambience and felt quite homely. I highly recommend this hotel and it will always be our first choice to stay in London.

Excellent location. Near to Blackfriars station and the river walkway. Quiet (room at the back), warm and comfortable. Good shower and good size room. Courteous and helpful staff. Generous and good breakfast. Our regular hotel for overnight theatre trips to London, We booked early and had not realised rail engineering works would render Blackfriars and the route to Brighton closed on the Saturday so long walk on a fine evening then bus to Victoria.

The hotel was extremely helpful and efficient as we had to change our date due to a train strike! When we arrived at the hotel the guy on Reception was very friendly and informative. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. Would definitely stay here again as also great location.

The Mad Hatter was uniquely charming. Sammy, Luke & Dan did an exceptional job of giving us information, directions, so helpful and fun to work with. Sammy got us hard to get tickets to Les Mis & a taxi which would have been very difficult for us at the last minute. The Alice in Wonderland motif was so professionally done and really gave a fascinating, clever, and interesting edge you don't experience hardly ever. The room was wonderful and very clean and the bed very comfy. The breakfast was whatever your heart desired, made to order, full English fare, very tasty and Dan did a great job keeping us happy & well fed. They are located one block from The Thames with a great river walk, many restaurants, wonderful people watching. Right across the river is St. Paul's Cathedral. You can easily walk to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre & Borough Market etc. The tube is an easy two block walk and gets you everywhere very easily. We felt very safe in our surroundings and they have a wonderful pub on the premises. Charmingly English atmosphere and we are so glad we stayed here.

Not a thing !!

We loved our stay at The Mad Hatter. We came to London for my 60th birthday. My adult daughter’s and their husband’s came as well. We arrived at the crack of dawn and the hotel let us leave our luggage with them so that we could start exploring the city. When our rooms were ready they called us. When we arrived to our room there was a banner over our bed the said “Happy Birthday “ and there were balloons all over the bed! It was a very nice personal touch! Our rooms were nice and clean, the bed was very comfy. The bathroom was nice and the water pressure was great. The breakfast was very good with many options. There was a buffet of things like pastries, croissant, yogurt, fruit… and you could also order off the menu. The pub was cute and the bar tenders were very nice. The reception was always friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay at The Mad Hatter again!

The only thing that I didn’t like was that there weren’t outlets on either side of the bed. My husband uses a Cpap and we were worried about that. He went to the front desk and they had a long extension cord and it worked perfectly. It’s an older building with charm so I guess you have to expect that it may not have all of the things that come with a more modern building.

We wanted a hotel that felt like England, so that when we woke up we knew we were not in Berlin or Rio in a hotel that could be anywhere. The Mad Hatter suited us perfectly. We had a double room (305) which is modest but a well maintained room with a good king bed, arm chair, desk & chair, superb hot breakfast. Over the course of our visit we had a lunch and a dinner in the Pub restaurant and enjoyed those meals as well. Uber is great to & from the hotel from the sites we visited all over the City. But, it was the staff that were the crowning features of the Mad Hatter: Sammy, Mark, and Luke were all attentive, warm, friendly, and efficient. Loved it!

Nothing.

Pros Staff were super friendly and helpful with advice about public transport, what to see, where to eat. Spacious room and bathroom with a good sized bath tub and bath robes was a nice touch. Excellent breakfast either buffet or al a carte included. Fairly central location. Good restaurant in the pub where we had 2 dinners.

Cons Room decor is a bit dated. Mattress was past it's use by with buttons able to be felt through the cover. Although this problem was temporarily fixed by flipping the mattress and using a thick doona as an underlay on top of the mattress. Staff said a new mattress would be ordered.

Location: The hotel's location was fantastic: nice walking (30 min) to major attractions. It was also very convenient for public transportation. Staff: The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with our requests. They were particularly knowledgeable about pubs, restaurants and attractions. Value for Money: Overall, the hotel provided good value for the price. The location, amenities, and friendly staff made it a pleasant stay.

While the room was smaller than expected, it was in line with the typical size of centrally located hotels in London for this price range
