Near to Rodney Parade for football, ten minutes very slow stroll. Very clean and tidy. Lots of tea and coffee provided, a convenient shop for milk a few minutes up the road. Location is not as bad as some reviews led me to believe. There are a lot worse I have seen and stayed in. Friendly staff and customers at the Wetherspoons nearby(Godfrey Morgan, 158 Chepstow Road, NP19 8EG)

Only the lukewarm shower, although I was probably the last person in the hotel to get up. Reception is not open all the time if you need it. Not a problem for me to check in, as the phone number given was answered immediately. Pillows are very firm, I prefer softer. Very much a personal choice, in my opinion.

Spotlessly clean bedroom and bathroom in a new part of the hotel. Very comfortable bed. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Pleasant staff.

First thing we saw going through the front door was a scruffy ripped carpet and same in Reception - poor first impression! Several things unfinished in the new extension - no rail in the wardrobe, door entry system not yet installed, unpainted plaster in hallway, broken window in bathroom. Exterior lights directed at our bedroom window on ground floor - blinds inadequate so it was like daylight!

The room was small. clean but met all of my requirements including tea/coffee facilities. The two members of staff we encounters, reception (on arrival) & at breakfast made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was pleasant, met our requirements and was ample. The hotel tariff was exceptional good value for out outlay. Finally the free carparking was a bonus,

One draw back to my room location (R3), was that due to the paper thin partition located between the corridor & bedroom door other customers who returned within the the early hours of the morning could be easily heard talking/laughing when walking past.

The Gateway saved us when our previous hotel had closed down. The reception member was helpful and accommodating, even with our last minute booking! We were welcomed and given our room with no problems. We stayed in the Family Room which was very spacious and had the most comfortable beds. The shower was great too!

The only negative was no hairdryer in the room and lots of stairs but that is all we can say. We had a lovely time so can't think of anything else! Thank you.

The staff were friendly. We asked about using their fridge to store sandwich items that we needed over the weekend and they said yes. We were also able to use items from the kitchen to prepare air sandwiches and also use plates and crockery for our take away meals that we had purchased in the evening. The rooms were cosy and warm. We had complimentary tea and coffee replaced each day. And the beds were made daily. We would definitely stay there again.

Only thing I could complain about is that the bin in the bathroom and the bin in the bedroom had no bin liners.

Our room was after renovation with fresh painting. The room every day was cleaned, shower was very big with new armature, the mattress was of high quality ( not too soft) the linen was fresh and new, breakfast cooked on place and served. The staff was very kind. Communication to ICC centre very easy -73 bus was 3 minutes by walk from hotel.

The area around, that was not the Citi part of town, on Sunday streets were full of rabish but during weektime everything was cleaned, owners probably do not have impact on it.

Having read the reviews of this hotel, I approached our stay with some caution. I could not have been more surprised. Our room was unrecognisable from the somewhat uninspiring photos on booking.com Light, clean, of a good size, and contemporary, I really liked it. Breakfast was also better than we had been led to believe from the reviews

Only flimsy plastic blinds on the windows to keep the morning light out. No curtains. The container for cigarette butts outside the front door needs emptying - it makes the place look uncared for, which was not our experience at all.

It was easy to find following the Sat Nav directions... plenty of off-road parking.....friendly helpful staff....room / bathroom exceptionally clean, infact spotless......coffee / tea making facilities....clean, and comfortable bed.....lovely shower room......very pleasant experience...would re-book if staying in the area.....

There was NOTHING to dislike........it was very good value for our money.....

The property was very simple and what you paid is what you got. The room was very clean and spacious, with a private shower and toilet. Lots of wardrobe space, mirrors and plug sockets. The location was great, only a walk away from the beautiful friars way which has lovely restaurants, bars and shopping. We didn’t eat breakfast as we were late waking but breakfast was included in the price.

The surrounding area of the building was a little unclean with dust and generally untidy, however the room was very clean.
