The room was spacious, clean and well maintained. The bed had new a mattress as it was a memory foam one. The bathroom was a wet room also spacious. The shower was lovely and hot. Plenty of tea/coffee and choice of water (still/sparkling) in glass bottles. The staff were friendly and happy. Excellent customer service skills. Restaurant was excellent. Food was hot and well cooked. Quiet location.

Room was cold on arrival, heating is on a timer. However a quick mention to a staff member and this was rectified immediately. Towels were a little small. Breakfast was an extra £12 pp as this is a b&b I felt this should have been included in the price. The total cost for 1 night was over £100 which is a little expensive.

little gem in the heart of Wales. good community with excellent amenities. food was great good sized portions. it has history converted from the coal offices from the Elled drift mine. it has quirky decor to the toilets made to look like a pit. the men’s toilets has old newspaper articles about the miners strike of 1984. Excellent place to stay if you want some Welsh mining history - visit the pithead for free or look at the old iron ore ruins.

staff and locals very welcoming and friendly.

Comfortable and quiet room. Very nicely finished bathroom. All spotlessly clean. Big full length mirror. Lots of plug sockets in sensible places. Very good quality food in restaurant. Friendly welcoming staff. Free car park and free wifi.

Steep narrow staircase to the rooms would be a problem for the less mobile, but didn't affect me personally. The service in the restaurant is on the slow side, but all food is cooked fresh to order - get there and order early to avoid eating later than planned.

the owner (male) is so welcoming !! showed us around, to our rooms, how to get in and out the building during closed hours, rooms were massive, really fresh and quite modern for a property that has touches of historical features! shower was fab and added bonus was that the towels were on a heated rack!

the food wasn’t the cheapest! but we only wanted something to share so it wasn’t too much of a problem for us, but average £14/15 per person for a main meal.

It was the most hospitable place we've ever been to with very friendly helpful staff. We liked that it was an Inn over the pub, so we could grab few drinks in the evening. We liked separate and secluded entrance to accommodation area. We chose it as it was in small town and it was easier to travel to Brecon Beacons, which we also liked. We also liked the area and it's mining history, even the rooms here are named after local mines, so you can see and feel connection to local history. We stayed only 2 nights and were surprised that towels were changed during our short stay and also bins taken out.

The only negative thing would be that there was no air conditioning, we happened to be there when there was the biggest heatwave, over 35 degrees, so having an air con, would make our stay more comfortable. There was a fan available though. Having a fridge, would also help, especially as we stayed there in summer.

This is a superb local pub with rooms above. Built over a long disused mine the building has lots of reminders of its heritage. The staff are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble. They are very attentive without being overbearing. A fine line to walk but they do it faultlessly. The food is first class with a wide selection of dishes to suit all tastes. Breakfast is excellent.

Nothing negative

Recently acquired by current owner, the interior belies a rather plain exterior. Bar and restaurant area are comfortable and busy. Food is high quality. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Owner could not have been more helpful. Links to Cardiff are good and we had a great overnight stay.

Outside space could be smartened up but it was a drab February day and night!

Breakfast was served hot and very tasty, lots on offer and good choice menu, we diverted a little on second morning to what we would like and staff only to please to serve what we asked for, extremely helpful.

There is nothing about our stay we did not like, as returning customers this goes to show how happy we are to stay in such a lovely little inn, it is great for us, in easy walking distance to all our needs.

Lovely b and b which we decided to stay in after my son's graduation in Newport. Communication was great. Georgia couldn't do enough for us and arranged early check in so we could arrive, have lunch and get ready before heading off. Our rooms were lovely and immaculately clean. We had dinner here also after we arrived back in the evening. A lovely girl called Hannah served us all day with our food (which is really nice and lots of it) and also couldn't do enough for us. So glad we found it and thankyou so much guys for everything and contributing to the wonderful day we had 💜 Highly recommend this little gem of a place

There was literally nothing that we did not like about this fabulous place

The Little Crown Inn was a great find, and was very comfortable. The pub underneath seemed to be a meeting spot for the locals but there was very little noise, despite it being a Saturday night. The room - named after a local coal colliery - was a good size for two and included a well-stocked tea tray. The fan in the room, and the block-out blind, was a welcome touch given the warmer weather. We also appreciated the free car parking behind the Little Crown.

Overall the property was a bit dated but this wasn't a problem. It was excellent value for money for the price we paid.
