The room was excellent, very comfortable. However there were a couple of small things that as 'older' visitors we would have appreciated. EG: A non slip mat for the shower. A free standing towel rail so that we could have our towels closer to the bath/shower. The food at Byrons was excellent. We preferred having our breakfast served to us than helping ourselves, but understand the need for self service at times, eg: staff shortage maybe. These are very minor things in the scheme of things and all the staff that we dealt with were absolutely brilliant, kind and helpful.

Again a minor issue but we found it difficult to access the toilet roll when needed as it was right behind us on the wall. A seperate holder would have been useful. Honestly cannot say there was anything we completely disliked and we would definately return.

Room was excellent, evening meal was of good quality although was as hot as expected.

Not disability friendly given that it is grade two listed and has no ground floor rooms or lift. Response following a request for disability access pointed this out but said efforts would be made. In fact we were on the second floor which necessitated 6 flights of stairs which was a bit of an ordeal. We were informed that there was an event at the hotel and but there was no obvious evidence of this. Should be clear in booking.com tha Hotel is not sutiable for people with Mobility issue.

Colwick Hall was absolutely amazing! It was tremendous to stay at such a historical place dating back to the 1200’s and the home place of Lord Byron. Check in was quick and easy and the staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was huge with a new and modern bathroom with a stand alone tub, separate shower, and hairdryer. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent as was the cooked breakfast the following morning. The grounds and gardens are beautiful and we spent some time walking the property in the back where there was a large pond with two beautiful swans. This property was set apart from the city and quiet and peaceful.

Everything was wonderful, no problems! I look forward to returning.

A lovely Georgian facility, steeped in history. Staff take great pride in the history of the house, which is very interesting. We enjoyed the lovely gardens and park around the Hall. The room was smalish, and up 2 flights of stairs, but comfortable and had everything we could need or want. A fan was already in the room, which I appreciated. The bathroom was quite large and well appointed.

The breakfast was somewhat disappointing, considering how much we paid for it. There was limited content in the continental breakfast, and filtered coffee was offered, which my husband found quite bitter.

The rooms are very spacious. The setting gardens are lovely, added to this was the sound of the fountain/water. The first night was very noisy with some of the guests staying up late, laughing, singing, etc outside our bedroom window. Finally subsided at about 2am. When I complained to the reception, she was lovely and immediately offered to sort it for the second night, moving us to a back bedroom, number 104. This was a much better room than our previous bedroom, better decor etc snd peaceful. Very friendly and good service from staff.

The first bedroom 102, not been re decorated and looking very dated. Also at the front of the property, which on our first night was very noisy.

A rare 'find', a hotel that can serve excellent food and get the accommodation right too. Usually, whenever I stay in a hotel I always make a point of not eating there, so many are part of a chain, the food id not prepared on site, brought in/ sous vide etc. Colwick Hall have it spot on, my party of 11 guests enjoyed the food and venue very much. We all had dinner on the first night, an excellent full English the next morning, (the best English breakfast I have had in any hotel, ever). Lunch after our function which was great, very well organised, polite, friendly staff without exception.

My only niggle was the breakfast on the morning of departure was totally at odds with the previous day. Chafing dishes, containing luke warm food which you had to put onto cold plates. Scrambled eggs only, which I personally hate. I did discuss this with the reception on departure as they were keen to hear what I had to say, which is good. So my only issue would be to say, that the breakfast on the second morning, certainly was not what we were expecting, Buffet breakfasts under heat lamps or in chafing dishes are usually a shambles, my advise would be if you do not have staff to cook to order, then don't offer it.

We have stayed at Colwick Hall before and our second visit was just as good as the first. The Hotel itself is a fantastic old building. From it's massive rooms, tall ceilings, grand staircases, fantastic gardens, the list goes on... The staff are very welcoming and friendly on arrival and throughout you stay. There is a lovely bar and the food in restaurant for breakfast and dinner was fantastic! There are a lot of people moaning about paying £3 (YES THREE POUNDS!!!) for parking. If you stay at the Hotel parking is FREE. If you go for lunch, dinner or a wedding etc., there is a small charge. The hotel is not getting rich on this and by having the barrier, it keeps the parking available for hotel guests. How much do you pay for parking in your town centre!? A great hotel and we will definitely be staying there on our next visit to Nottingham.

What's not to like.

The welcome as soon as we entered the building, warm and friendly, Saskia was very helpful, guiding us to our room and answering all our questions. Sharing information about the local area and availability of food and drinks. The room itself was huge, with a beautiful ensuite bathroom which included a bath and all commodities needed. The room included TV, kettle, tea and coffee bottled water, hairdryer which is a dream, iron and trouser press. The grounds are stunning which also has a lake with a path, leading to and from the hotel.

The hike up the stairs, it's not a negative and it's not the hotels fault, I booked last minute and as I say it's not a complaint, I'm just not very fit.

I had asked for a twin room, as I was travelling with my daughter (aged 16), however we were given a double bed instead. Not a problem for us, but could potentially have caused an issue.

Breakfast was extra and was satisfactory although perhaps not worth the additional expense. The continental buffet options were minimal. The cooked breakfast was fine, with a choice of eggs, but the quality wasn't perhaps what I'd expected. I wouldn't necessarily have breakfast if staying again.

Fantastic setting for hotel in beautiful parkland, well placed for a walk around the lakes after breakfast. Our room at the front of the hotel overlooked the garden fountains and the racecourse. Room was very comfortable with plenty of light from the floor to ceiling windows, wooden shutters if you need to close out the lights at night. Staff and service, very good. Good for a day at the races or an evening at the greyhound racing.

Breakfast could be better considering the cost.
