Fantastic location!!! Great restaurants steps out the door and a market. Short walk to the best shopping and just so cute. The gentleman that checked us in was super helpful and friendly. Loved the charm of the old building. Nice room size and bathroom size.
Our room was upstairs through a slanting hallway and then down a tight spiral staircase that ALSO had a steep slanting roof line so that you had to contort to get down the small door that was entry to our room. Leaving the room was easier as you could simply crawl on your hands and knees. Unfortunately I am super claustrophobic and I struggled a great deal with this set up. If you are cool with this description and can enjoy the nature of it being an old building, you’ll love this room. Also, don’t even think about bringing a suitcase to the room, small bags only.

The room was pristine - one of the cleanest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in! I was very pleased with how clean and neat it was - well done to the cleaners!! It was well-equipped and even had a little fridge for keeping milk and so on. The proprietor recommended a number of restaurants in the area, but I did very well from the local Sainsbury's. Personally, I would have liked to be able to stay more centrally because I was in Oxford for research. I would have preferred a hotel near the library I use, where I could pop in for coffee and to eat meals during the day. But actually, I enjoyed the walk in and out of town, apart from the first day when it was raining and dismal. It was awesome at night.
I stayed midweek; the noise level from the street and pub opposite was to be expected. Almost all of the hotels in central Oxford which I have ever stayed in are noisy at night; with earplugs I got a good night's sleep.

We stayed with our 7 month old baby and the location was so convenient as we could leave our car parked securely in the back and walk one road to all the Oxford sites with our pram in just 10 minutes. There were also a lot of great restaurants and cafes right by the inn. Check in and out was very easy and they were happy for us to check in early.
The bed was very small although comfortable, and as it’s on the main road into town and near a main roundabout, the noise from the traffic came right through the windows including quite a few police/ambulance sirens. Make sure you bring earplugs!

The location is near all the places you might want to visit in Oxford. There are lots of dining places in the area. The room was clean and comfortable, with all the amenities. The shower doors were off the track, so the bathroom flooded each time we showered. Other than that, I had no complaints about this room. The airport bus is a two-minute walk from here; it dropped us off at the terminal. That saved so much luggage schlepping.
The check was until 3.00 p.m. when the pub opened. We arrived at 10.30 a.m., so we hid our luggage behind the pub and wandered the street until then. I waited while the bartender finished serving his beers before being checked in. Something better could have been arranged with using a lockbox as this was a prepaid room.

The room was comfortable and clean with plenty of space. The beds were very comfortable. Jane who checked us in was great, she gave us lots of tips about places to go and eat, and also fetched us a heater when we were a bit chilly. This hotel is in a fantastic spot, so close to all the main attractions in Oxford, just down the road from the Botanical Gardens and Magdalen College, and the centre of town is just a few more minutes walk. Check out Kasbar round the corner for dinner, it’s fantastic.
I am a light sleeper and our room faced the main road. I really didn’t sleep well as although the hotel is set back from the road, there is still constant traffic noise. If you are a light sleeper then either take ear plugs or ask for a room at the back.

We stayed in a chalet behind the pub. There were 4 friends in our group and the chalet was perfect for us. It had one bedroom with twin beds, another with a double bed and the 4th person slept on the huge corner couch. The chalet was spotless. Kitchenette had kettle, toaster, fridge, cooking rings and we think a combo oven. Pete the owner was very friendly and we would definitely stay here again. There were many restaurants in the vicinity and we were situated just around the corner from high street as we were within walking distance of everything.
We can't find any negatives at all.

My family and I stayed at the OBH in late Sep 2023 for five days. We had a great experience. Our room was big enough for the three of us and was very comfortable. The pub downstairs does not get loud even in the weekends. The best part is the free parking. St Clement's street is loud due to the amount of ambulance traffic but the rooms seem to insulate most of the noise. The location is fantastic for walking around Oxford
It was perfect for our stay.

Everything was to like! From the moment of booking! Communication with Pete was excellent as we had a couple of requests. All requests nicely sorted! Lovely location with parking! - massive bonus! For us 5 minute walk into centre Oxford! Amazing! Room was lovely and spacious, very clean and nice array of tea and coffee with fridge with complimentary water! Pub below lovely and inviting. Pubs surrounding all very nice also. You cannot go wrong booking here. Thanks Pete and all your staff!

(1) VERY FRIENDLY MANAGER. (2) Rooms 11 and 13 were ACTUALLY CHALETS. Very suitable for families of 4-5 members. (3) Near restsurants, grocery shop, etc. 1 minute walk from Cowley Road, which is littered with foreign cuisine restaurants, etc. (4) Very near High Street and City Centre -- walking distance. (5) Excellent value-for-money. Oxford city centre hotels are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. This hotel provided excellent value by Oxford standards.
NO COMPLAINTS.

Staff was very nice, the place was clean and the location is close to the city center. Many restaurants, cafes and pubs in the area.
Location is not best for you if you are a light sleeper. Windows let in a lot of noise and there's a bar downstairs and the hotel is on a busy road with unexpectedly many emergency vehicles. We slept through all the noise, but I would suppose the noise to be an issue for many.
