I'm a sucker for historical properties and this was a delightful find. The room was small for a double but we managed perfectly well even through last minuet ballgown alterations. It was comfortable and cozy with a beautiful view of part of the university. The street was pretty quiet at night and while i'm not usually keen on shared bathrooms the facilities were in good condition. I would like to stay again just to properly experience the area more and the convenience of staying so central and to get a better feel for the property as a whole. It was also quite funny to hear the local tour guides during the day and the buzz of the students and locals.

While the property and location were great I would advise caution if you are traveling by car. I booked expecting little parking however it was worse than expected, please do your research if this is a deal breaker. There was no parking in the immediate area, small dead end roads are common. We had to park ten to fifteen minuets walk away in an expensive car park and get up very early to move the car to another carpark to avoid the inner city clean air tariffs. We also had to leave early to avoid this when leaving. None of this is the fault of the property but it is something to keep in mind if like us you are traveling with a lot of luggage or even children please be aware.

The location is perfect, very easy to find and very close to the coach station, bus stops, high street and Westgate. A small walk to the rail station but nothing dramatic. Ship St is a lovely quiet little street with some nice places for coffee and food but only 50 yards from the main streets in Oxford. The building is (as you would expect for Oxford) very 'period' so bursting with character but modernised in just the right ways, very clean, and the staff were very helpful. Very comfortable bed and the room was a good temperature despite the weather being a bit rubbish outside. Being a very old property perhaps not for you if you are over six feet tall though unless you remember to duck the beams!

Nothing of note. The shower was perfunctory (due to the age of the building plumbing was never going to be ace) but it was hot and wet so did its job, certainly not a complaint point.

The house is beautiful and it feels like you are staying in a part of the history of Oxford. The amenities are fantastic and the room was spacious and incredibly clean, with beautiful white linen and gorgeous furnishings. There was a TV and a kettle for making coffee or tea in the morning. The location couldn’t be better, as it’s so central but the room was still incredibly quiet. The view from my room was also stunning.

The shower in the ensuit room could be improved but the rest of the room is so perfect that it more than makes up for it.

Room absolutely lovely and had everything we might need including a fantastic view and being surprising quiet despite the central location. The manager/housekeeper were both really helpful in allowing us to leave luggage before and after check in. The location is unbeatable- in the midst of the ancient splendor of the colleges but a minutes walk from shops/restaurants. Would love to stay there again - especially if my son is lucky enough to get into the university!

Booking.com had emailed to say that money would be taken before my stay - it was all a rush so I did not check or realise that it was pay on site. I actually checked out without paying - luckily I had luggage to collect so paid then. A bit embarrassing but the manager was lovely about it!

The location of the property was amazing. Right in the centre of Oxford but on a quiet side street. As we were in the city to attend an event, it was super convenient. There was no breakfast at the property but so many breakfast places in walking distance.

We were on the top floor of the property and there were a lot of steep stairs. This property wouldn't be suitable for someone with limited mobility or bad knees!

The location ia as central as it gets.. All sites , eateriea museums easily walkable. Room was sizable, functional and had a view of the Jesus College across the atreet.

The desk staff was mostly absent. I tried to contact the hotel with a simple question via booking.com for weeks prior to checkin, but never got a reply until the day i was to check in. The 3 pm checkin was inconvenient.

The bed was comfortable. Clean and tidy. TV tea making facilities . Good

I had to go upstairs for the bathroom. Couldn't get in the shower when needed as someone else in there. While resting mid morning my door was opened by obviously the owner . Never knocked just let himself in and never said who he was shocked to see me there and left again. Bad manners not to knock. A Lot of money with no breakfast and having to we all upstairs in the middle of the night to use the toilet. Room cold in the mornings.

Great location, in an interesting old building. Nicely decorated, comfy with nice touches such as bottles of water and biscuits. No breakfast available but plenty of options nearby.

Bit noisy and creaky, but that's because it's such a charming old building so that's to be expected. On a similar note, if you are tall bear in mind this is an old building with low ceilings. Quite pricey for just a room but then everywhere is quite pricey at the moment so I don't think it's out of proportion with other options in such a central location.

This hotel is a great value for money in a fabulous location in central Oxford. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to see the city. There’s only one caveat: the ceilings in the hallway are low at points. So you just need to know that in advance. But I am 6 foot three and I had no problem getting in and out of the room. Plus the people who medicine and Reception were super helpful. Very accommodating. At this price point it’s unbelievable value.

nice basic, clean room, straight forward no frills but again a nice room. i was lucky to have the top floor ''blue room'' . so had window open all night, always a good thing. and when asleep it was peaceful through the night, again, always a good thing. thanks ''tower house guest house'' ...

we all know life is expensive, i just wish one night rooms wernt ''so expensive'' , it is what it is, i accept that. but. fairer prices every where would help.
