Breakfast was great, lots on offer and very tasty. Staff were friendly. It was super clean. Shower was nice.

Walls between rooms need some insulation adding, as you can hear every word the people in the neighbouring rooms say, including people snoring, and using the bathroom etc. We felt like we had to whisper the whole time. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable, both waking with bad backs. I would advise asking guests what time they plan on having breakfast each day, as on the second morning we all showed up at once and they seemed very overwhelmed, we noticed they missed items from another tables order, although they did apologise profusily. Other places we have stayed ask for the time you plan on having breakfast, then they are well prepared for you, with everything ready to go when you get there.

great staff, friendly and helpful from the start. Just like to give Tilly a special mention. We had a twin room which had everything we needed. Spacious bathroom with a great shower. Very good breakfasts. Ample parking.

My bed had a foam mattress topper, which was fine apart from the crease that formed in it, making it uncomfortable. I tried to put it right the next morning but the bed was too heavy to move. Room service made it the following morning, which didn't really make any difference.

It was in an ideal place for the advent we were attending. Family room had everything we needed, clean. Breakfast was included in room price very good,Food was lovely , we ate both nights, plenty choice.used by locals well, music on Saturday night and bouncy castle for younger children. All staff very friendly and helpful. Extra towels, teas, coffees, etc all left for you to help yourselves if needed, but ample already in your room.would most definitely stay here again when in the area.

Nothing bad to say

Very friendly greeting, everyone very nice , very helpful, great staff couldn't do enough for you , Ham and cheese, was very clean , beds very comfortable, room facilities were very good , the onsight food and the service was excellent, overall , this place was excellent value .

Not much , NOT to like . The only issue , was the late night , sound of music from the Bar . Just a little grinding , when you have been on the GO , travelling , or returning from a long day out , BUT , we expected it really, as this is a Bar at the End of the day after all. So not really a complaint, more of an observation.

Attention to detail was such a nice touch, they'd thought of everything and you could tell that they really care about their guests. The room was clean, cosy and well equipped. The drinks and breakfast we had were also lovely! Very easy to find, and in lovely surroundings.

It's not something that the H&C could improve on per se, it's just to bear in mind the walls are quite thin and you can hear a lot of other people's movements/ conversations/ snoring etc. But this is no reflection on the venue itself, just an observation. If you're a light sleeper it's worth bearing in mind.

Plenty of parking. Check in was swift and Alex showed us to our room immediately. She pointed out the spare tea coffee milk etc. on the landing. The room was great, plenty of room. The bar staff were really good. Breakfast was served by Andi and she was excellent. Very efficient, funny and just what we wanted in the morning. All in all a great stay.

The en suite could have been a little larger but not a problem.

Firstly the staff were all amazingly friendly. The room was in a bungalow at the back of the pub, so was very quiet. Beds were comfortable and the room was warm. Plenty tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, etc. we had a room with a king bed and 2 singles. The bathroom was nicely done. The evening meal and breakfast in the pub were delicious. A bonus was that the distance to Flamingo Land was only 15 mins.

The Ham and Cheese is a super country pub run by warm welcoming staff. The food provided especially on the evening represents very good value with a very wide ranging menu. My wife was delighted by the Whitby scampi and my sirloin steak was excellent. You must book your table well in advance as the pub is clearly very popular with locals for an evening meal. Wide choice of beers. The location of the hotel near to Malton which is a small country town well worth a visit.

The size of our room and the rustic chips which they serve rather than traditional chips

The breakfast was lovely and generous portions. We also booked two evening meals which we really enjoyed which is why it was very busy but service was excellent and friendly. This was our third stay and we will definitely be returning as its a great central location for lots of attractions.

Was a perfect weekend break so no complaints.

The location was great, we stayed in the annex at the back which was lovely and quiet. There was brewing up facilities in the room with easy refills so you could enjoy a cuppa on arrival or after a day exploring York. The staff were really friendly and attendant and made they stay, the food was lovely and prices really reasonable would highly recommend
