The hotel and restaurant was superb . We appreciated its quiet setting, which was perfect for a relaxing break. Our standout favourite was the stream that runs through the rear garden—it really added to the relaxing atmosphere! We stayed for two nights and enjoyed four meals. The food was fantastic, especially the cooked-to-order English breakfast. The evening restaurant served classic pub food, and the sausage mash with Yorkshire pudding will long be remembered as one of the best I’ve had in years. The roast dinner was top-tier, with generous portions of both lamb and beef! The restaurant was super busy on Sunday evening—a sign of its success! We visited the coast, travelled on the steam train (which was a 10/10 experience) and visited York. We did get the sense that the hotel wasn’t particularly geared up for hosting kids, this worked well for us. I’d recommend the Cayley Arms to couples and other adults looking for a peaceful retreat. Lastly, a big thank you to Tim and Becky, who clearly worked very hard. They knew that spending just 10 minutes chatting with guests could greatly enhance the experience, and their local expertise was much appreciated. Thanks to you both for your warm hospitality!

This is an exceptional place and base to explore North Yorkshire.. The owners Tim & Bex have invested time and resources into making this a beautiful place to stay and eat. Their warm and friendly hospitality combined with the lovely location makes you feel at home. Over the last 40 years with business I have traveled much of the UK and overseas and it is in the top 5 places I have stayed in to be honest. We had already booked a week up in Ravenscar and would have extended this trip if its hadn’t been paid in advance. Putting the worlds to right with Bex and Tim’s great tips for locations to visit meant yesterday was a full day sightseeing. Hopefully health permitting we will be back in the future as Northumberland is on the to do list. Breakfast delicious and evening meal was perfect. Thanks once again and we will be back

Nothing at all to mention

We had a really lovely stay in the Cayley Arms. Becky and Tim are very hospitable and can't do enough to make your stay memorable. I always think if you have plenty of locals then the place is good and this is definitely the case here. The food and service is very good. They offered lots of tips and advice on where to visit in the area. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

If I could find one small fault it is with the sinks in the ensuites are very small and its diffcult not to get water everyone. Loved the large shower which had great water pressure

The breakfast was excellent all locally sourced and cook beautifully. We also had our evening meal here again both meal were excellent. Tim and Becky were the perfect hosts. The bar area was lovely and the bar was well stocked with local beers as well as all the other drinks.

I can honestly say we had nothing we did not like. The room bathroom and the entire house were beautiful. The grounds were very well maintained and the stream a lovely addition. Car park was very wee maintained

We had a fabulous time, and the Cayley Arms is a great location to stay for getting out and about. The owners, Becky and Tim, are lovely friendly and caring. Very accommodating of any requests . The room was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was immaculate. Breakfast is brilliant and freshly cooked to order if that's what you chose. There was a good selection of cereals, yoghurts, and fruit, as well as orange juice. Fresh coffee or tea. We had a couple of evening meals there as well, and they were fabulous, big portions and fresh vegetables. The pub is great, and a good selection of beers and wine. Very clean and modern well kept. Would not hesitate to recommend to friends or family.

There was absolutely nothing we didn't like.

A friendly welcome, a well appointed room. Owners were excellent hosts, evening meals wer great, if a little too large on the mains and one course was more than enough. Slightly cheaper and slightly smaller would have encouraged us to have a second course. We had a quick and friendly response to our faulty equipment tripping the electrics dramatically in our room and we were lent alternative chargers which was much appreciated. Breakfast was excellent with good cchoice and hosts were flexible about us needing a very early breakfast and agreed on a solution to our time challegnes amicably.

Option for a slightly earlier breakfast, appreicating it is a pub with accomodation not a hotel, or offer of a simple continental breakfast available the night before for people who do need to leave early. Unusual comment espeically from my husband but main courses were just too big and we both hate wasting food.

Bex and Tim are two of the greatest hosts we have ever had in a local hotel. So welcoming and did absolutely everything to look after us during the stay. Breakfast is great, and dinner in the pub on both evenings was also very good and relatively cheap for what it was (~ 50 quid for two adults, including drinks). The room was very well appointed with quality fittings.

Our room (Woodcock) was quite small, but we knew that when we booked because availability was very short in the area owing to two major events. Next time we would look to book one of the other rooms, but if Woodcock was the only one available we would still probably book and just pack accordingly.

The breakfast was great - set us up for the day! The location was lovely - very peaceful. There was plenty of room to park. The owners, Tim and Becky are lovely people - they looked after us very well!

Nothing at all to complain about. The evening meal was as enjoyable as the breakfast. Tim and Becky helped us with any queries, and were very informative regarding the area. North Yorkshire is beautiful!

Lovely little touches in the room made it special such as the fluffy robes and personal items in the bathroom we loved the stag theme, lovely view over the garden and the running stream. The bar was well refurbished and well stocked and the meal was delicious, plenty of choice. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

We liked everything.

Breakfast was great quality and lots to choose from including home made bread. Location was on a main road which was great for access to other locations for tourist attractions and venues. Also ate at the site for our evening meal and the quality is the best we have ever had and good prices too. Staff were very helpful and friendly without being overbearing.
