Lovely spacious room which was perfect for us and our 10-yr-old grandson. The second bed was not just a “pull-out” bed but a real bed which was very comfortable. In fact our grandson raved about it because the previous night in another hotel he had to sleep in an uncomfortable pull-out bed. Bathroom also large and spacious which was a very pleasant surprise. If traveling with a child ask for the big family room !!! Good breakfast and perfect location to walk anywhere in town. Once we parked we didn’t need to drive again.

Very hot at the time we visited and as is the case with most British hotels there is no air conditioning or window screens. When we opened the windows the bugs and flies came in. A fan in the room would have helped.

I loved this hotel ; is close to the bus station; very well located; two minutes walk from The golf course; and beach;my room was very comfortable; warm and clean; they offered to change often the towels and bedding; they were friendly and helpful in anything I had needed. Breakfast was huge; I couldn't never finished the whole meal. The room has extra coffee/tea and cookies; hairdryer ; very good shampoo and conditioner and shower and hand liquid soap. Is really 5 /10 minutes walking from the most historic sites. I can't wait to go back. Thank you

There is nothing that I didn't like; everything was perfect

The bed was very comfortable. Shower was very good. View from my room was very pretty. Liked the central location to public transportation.

The young girl at the reception did not offer to help with suitcase, seeing that I was alone and the room was on the third floor without a lift. Very different experience to all the other places I had been traveling around Scotland where older people are very helpful and nice! The staff at the breakfast was not particularly friendly either. For the price of the stay the guest gets the feeling that they want to save on the breakfast with limited options and ok service.

we were complementarily upgraded which was a lovely surprise for our trip, especially as we were celebrating our anniversary & there for our good friend’s wedding. the room was huge, as was the bathroom!! staff were lovely & helpful especially when trying to book a taxi, and when we hadn’t had a chance to book in for breakfast as we’d been out at the wedding all day.

the bathroom could have done with a higher level of cleaning, but I’m particularly OCD! floors were creaky but it’s an old building it’s nothing that wasn’t to be expected!

We had a really great room which spanned the width of the building so was lovely and spacious. you could’ve thought it might be a bit drafty but it wasn’t at all. It was warm and cosy. The shower was fantastic. We had some booking issues but the staff were nothing but courteous and understanding, even without knowing it was our 5 year wedding anniversary or that I’d just received some awful news, which goes to shore they were just genuinely considerate. We had to cut our stay short but I’m glad we were able to go for the time we could. I’d definitely recommend staying!

the restaurant which serves breakfast is a bit small so it’s a bit chaotic at peak times it seems. Just expect there not to be much leeway for the time you book Breakfast!

Lovely Hotel in an ideal location. Staff were all lovely and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely breakfast

Not a fan of a pre order breakfast but it works well for the Hotel. The breakfasts we had were lovely though.

Lovely hotel. Great location that's super handy for the beach and the town. The staff were all lovely. The food in the restaurant was delicious. The room was comfortable and clean, the shower pressure was brilliant. And the room had the added bonus of being able to control the heat on the radiators which was great at night so it didn't get too warm. The carpet in the room was a bit worn, probably just with age but it was clean enough.

Room was clean bed was comfortable with extra covers available. Reasonable choice for breakfast which came quickly once ordered. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Good location, easy to walk into town, to the beach and to the golf course.

Room was fine for the couple of nights we stated for but small if staying for a longer period of time. Should be aware there is no lift and quite a few stairs.

Honestly such a fantastic stay at Ardgowan. Will definitely be back next time we visit Saint Andrew’s. The room was spotless and the staff went above and beyond. The location was honestly ideal right central and only a two minute walk to the old course.

Not to do with the hotel but I would highly recommend booking a restaurant in advance if you are visiting as we couldn’t find anywhere that would accommodate us for dinner… except for Nando’s.

Everything you need and the toiletries are amazing.

The small junior double room isn't the best for 2 people due to space but you can make it work. The only thing I was disappointed by was finding a red cleaning cloth stuffed under the bed. I think someone has tried to dust the bed stands but that should never have been done with a bathroom cloth. Red cloths are specific to bathrooms and shouldn't be used in bedrooms due to cross contamination.
