Room was big & very comfortable with views over the old course to the sea Think the bar in the 4th floor was also good but overcrowded on the 31st so we couldnât get a seat Dinner in the swilken loft on the 31st was excellent although very difficult to get drinks at the table (staff & bar seemed over stretched with the volume of customers). Fire works were fantastic - well done to the technician who braved the weather to set them up) Overall enjoyed our staff but perhaps a wedding party on the 31st as well as a full hotel was a step too far for the management
Lack of public areas for relaxing Bit disappointed with breakfast

Celebrated my husbands 70th birthday. A hand written card was in our room welcoming us and Bally birthday. The staff upgraded our room to a view of the 17th green. Room was Comfy and clean. Staff throughout hotel was exceptional particularly the young lady at the reception. Nothing was a bother.
It is a nitpick and Iâm sure the hotel doesnât own the property but walking into the town at night along the golf course road by jigger inn is pitch black. There should be some low ground lighting. We won a spot on the ballot and golfed at the olde course . Best golf game of my life without hesitation. Caddies Neil and John were knowledgeable and fun. All the restaurant and golf shop staff were helpful and efficient.
Superior!

5 star all the way, absolutely nothing you could fault and too many upsides to write down. The staff and attention to detail are second to none. One example where many hotels fail would be tea and coffee in the room. Not only are you provided with top quality products but they are fully replenished when you are out, even down to a small bottle of milk in the fridge. We were there for my wife's birthday and 45th anniversary. Going in for dinner, my wife was immediately wished a happy birthday to be followed after dinner by a decorated good wishes sweet plate for both occasions. The standard of furnishing in the room is outstanding, the food exceptional and the most friendly and helpfull staff you could ask for. Yes, the price is at the top end, but it,s worth every penny. I,ve already checked out availability on Booking.com for next year, and for a longer stay. Thank you for a wonderful break.
Nothing.

Absolutely 5âď¸ Loved staying here. Our room was quite a walk but so worth it for the spectacular views of the old course which hubby got to play. Hotel was stunning and beautifully decorated for Christmas. The welcome champagne, canopies and birthday card for hubby was a lovely gesture and much appreciated. Golf services and the gents in the pro shop shared in my husbandâs excitement at getting to play on this iconic course. Will definitely be back but wouldnât put myself through the stress of a ballot ever again! đ¤Ł

A very comfortable bed with great pillows. An amazingly deep bath which was wonderful at the end of the day. I thoroughly approve of the provision of Scottish produce though was surprised that it was Harrogate water available in the rooms and not Scottish water. As ever the staff are excellent and through the customer information available to them were able to welcome me back - felt valued.
There is not a great vegetarian choice at the buffet at breakfast time. No veggie sausages, black pudding or haggis. These could be offered on demand on the al a carte menu. The breakfast tea in the bedrooms is very string- could teabags such as darjeeling be requested at time of booking. I had a lovely corner room, however this had a door adjoining the room next door. Although this was locked it was very disconcerting as a solo woman traveller to hear a male voice coming through quite loudly in the morning.

Great place to indulge @ Christmas.Super to have a festive choir in the lobby on arrival.Loved the Old Course suites. Thoughtful with nice touches of festive indulgence as well as huge comfy beds and stunning views. Swilcan loft delivered the perfect Christmas Eve dinner. Super menu, beautifully prepared and presented by friendly, knowledgeable staff. Road Hole bar finished a festive evening. Breakfasts deliver all you could wish for, huge choice and cheerful staff.
Unfortunately it was our Christmas lunch in the Roadhole restaurant. Tables for four are tight for dining comfortably and huge plates increase the issue.Warm, flat glass of "welcome " champagne on arrival. Main courses poor. Plenty of meat in the turkey and fish options but a lot to be desired in the accompaniments. In the case of the turkey they were sparse and luke warm and apart from potato no vegetables at all with the fish. As for the desserts, oh dear. The Black forest gateaux appeared to be a block of decorated chocolate brownie and the soaked sablion was dry as a board.Oh dear!

Location and facilities were great. Breakfast was excellent, obviously all very high quality ingredients and very well prepared. Location outstanding, with lots of vantage points to see the Old Course from. Spa was a very welcome facility
4th floor bar was very small and expensive, was surprised it wasn't bigger considering size of hotel. View from non-golf course side pretty miserable, not sure if rooms with views are at a premium. Bit disappointed/surprised that the excellent spa facilities were only open to hotel guests for free at limited times (ÂŁ40 to use pool/sauna etc in the afternoon seemed steep - free only early morning). However, the did not detract from an overall excellent experience.

Staff were very helpful, particularly Clare at reception, who couldn't have done more - she was fantastic, nothing was any trouble, she was efficient and professional, very welcoming and warm - a true asset to your hotel
Dinner at the Swilcan Loft was disappointing , the service was good as we were only ones in the restaurant but the food was disappointing. The hotel was very cold !

Amazing staff. Partner had birthday and I spoke to Eilidh at reception. I knew her personally. Champagne and canapes arrived for him in the room. At dinner in the Swilkan Loft another glass of champagne and chocolates. Really made him feel special.
At breakfast we had self service for cereals etc. Ordered salmon and scrambled eggs but unfortunately it came to the table before we had eaten the cereal, which made the eggs cold. Mixed toast but the brown bread was burnt.
