Location and facilities were great. Breakfast was excellent, obviously all very high quality ingredients and very well prepared. Location outstanding, with lots of vantage points to see the Old Course from. Spa was a very welcome facility

4th floor bar was very small and expensive, was surprised it wasn't bigger considering size of hotel. View from non-golf course side pretty miserable, not sure if rooms with views are at a premium. Bit disappointed/surprised that the excellent spa facilities were only open to hotel guests for free at limited times (£40 to use pool/sauna etc in the afternoon seemed steep - free only early morning). However, the did not detract from an overall excellent experience.

Every member of staff was exceptional. Vert friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and the food was excellent.

There was nothing we didn’t like. our only problem was that in the afternoon on New Years Day we realised we had missed lunch and it was a long time till dinner and we couldn’t get food anywhere in the hotel as the only place serving food was full. We had to drive into the town to get something to eat which was not easy on that day as many places were closed. I thought a hotel this size would have been able to produce a sandwich without too much difficulty.

room, and breakfast good. I like the milk in thre fridge to have with our tea/coffee.

i ate the bag of Maltesers in the room mini bar and unfortunately did not see the price first - over £6, and in the local shop £1.25. That is quite a mark-up and i admit to being shocked! Am sure you could stretch to a pack of biscuits, always welcome with a cuppa after a long drive to get there. there is sufficient room charge to get a pack of 3 biscuits each - you should think about this!

The room wqs beautiful with a great view, as wqs breakfast and the kohler spa was the highlight! Staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Shout out to concierge and the lovely man in the kilt who showed us to our room and had an ice bucket delivered when we had asked about an ice machine.

We had issues with the reservation and were told we would have to pay £50 extra than what we had booked for. This had all been sorted prior to arrival but upon arrival at reception, it had not been sorted for us and we had to wait for a supervisor to agree to a change in the booking and for our room to be made up even although we arrived around 4.15pm. The fridge in the room was really loud and I never really slept and there was no bed side lights, just spotlights on the ceiling which were really bright when you want to sit and relax.

Breakfast was excellent, staff were warm and friendly throughout. Check in with a university medic and the chat with the concierge about the changes at the university over the last 30 years was delightful.

The room was a bit hot and I couldn't work out how to adjust in the middle of the night. Post-covid the furnishings were perhaps a little minimalistic - a room that size could take a second armchair. In the past the spa was included without restriction - now there's a limit to a window in the morning and evening, which was a little disappointing.

Friendly staff, fantastic breakfast, especially for gluten-free options. Great shuttle service to and from golf courses and awesome location walking distance from the beach. Loved the Prosecco welcome drinks! 💙

Felt slightly overpriced, could've included the room bar as complimentary and possibly a free game on the golf course.

The hotel was beautiful, staff polite and friendly. On arrival our room was not available, so to resolve the issue we were upgraded to a deluxe suite which was much bigger than the room we had booked. Complimentary glass of fizz on arrival was a nice touch.

The room decor is a dated, however I understand this is the style of the hotel. I think people who are paying to stay should have better access to the spa.. the hours are very limited and make it difficult to use this.

The friendly greeting from check in staff, the 'welcome' drinks, the overall cleanliness of the room, the attention to detail including the greeting card and champagne and canapés in our room to help us celebrate my wife's birthday, the complimentary content of the mini bar. Our dinner in Sands was excellent and the service fabulous. Lovely stay, couldn't be faulted.

Excellent breakfast spread. Excellent golf course views from the Road restaurant. Very good quality restaurants with excellent foods. Great room facilities. Friendly staff. The hotel managed to get us a flight at The Old Course golf course. Very happy with that service!!

The view out the window of my room was the aircon compressor. Terrrible view.

lovely location beside the beach and the links with an east route into St Andrews. The rooms are themed by historical winners of the Open which is a nice touch. The Edwardian photos in our room were interesting and added to the atmosphere.

it feels as though the main entrance is at the back of the property and that the front of the property is not as accessible as we would have liked. but these are just quibbles. it is a great place to stay and the staff are lovely.
