The staff on reception,the restaurant,and bar were excellent so was the food

There was a problem with the heating for the pool in the spa which made the water very cold but after a few lengths it was ok, the safe in our room did not work so I went to reception to see why they told me they were changing some safe,s for new one's but they could put us in a new room with the safe working but having unpacked we decided to stay in same room, but why wasn't we put in a room with a safe that worked in the first place if they had spare rooms, any way they were only 2 small problem's which didn't spoil our stay

Liked everything apart from the swimming pool, which was not functioning as normal. Low temperature and no showers. We had pre-booked to use these facilities but decided to cancel because of the issues. We would have probably used them had the hotel offered to discount the additional cost but they didn't. We had hoped to use the swimming pool so this was disappointing. The rest of the stay was great though.

Location, friendly staff, comfortable warm rooms

Room allocation: I had telephoned and asked for a room with a view. Allocated room no.1 with a view over the front of the hotel Upon arrival the room had been changed and the 'view' was over the health club not the front of the hotel. Staff stated that because I had not specifically requested that room the booking was changed and given to a guest who had asked for that room. An upgrade to a room with a similar view was offered, but we had already unpacked so felt it not worth moving rooms. Also the shower flow control lever was missing, so shower could not be used.

Hotel and surroundings aesthetically pleasing, value for money with spa facilities. Staff very accommodating and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. When a fault with shower was mentioned it was immediately dealt with. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. Lovely walk on the Wolds way on the doorstop.

Unfortunately visited when swimming pool area had to have dehumidifiers and pool was chilly, though this was well explained, it may have been a good idea to offer a small discount. Didn't spoil our stay, but had we have gone specifically for the spa would have felt disappointed.

Beautiful hotel and surroundings, stayed here with my husband for our anniversary and my birthday, had use of the pool and spa facilities, which was lovely and relaxing, staff were friendly and professional, room's were comfy and clean, food during the day and evening was very nice too, highly recommend staying here

Bit disappointed we were not told the full a'la carte menu would not be available due to the Tribute Event being held, which we were looking forward to, we only had the set menu option, which was limited but nice, (maybe advice guests on booking)

Place was on the list with local places to stay after wedding celebrations that i have attended Only needed to stay somewhere for really just a night after the wedding and did arrive late into evening but got positively surprised with a place ,location and what it did have to offer Breakfast was very tasty and staff extremely nice Lovely lady did interact with my little girl and gave her chocolate coins My little girl asked me after we left restaurant if she could give her some of her coins too so we went back to offer her a small tip Face and smileof my little girl when the lady did say thank you and asked for cuddle was priceless I should probably mention that my little girl is only 3 :) We will be definitely back but next time it will be adults trip only so we can enjoy the spa and what the hotel has to offer

Nothing that we can think off

The staff were friendly and, more importantly, helpful and efficient. The setting is very fine, the house and grounds are beautiful. Inside the old parts of the house are very comfortable with a great ambience. The building overall is a bit of a warren with the modern part grafted onto the older part, but it works just fine. We will be looking for an excuse to visit again and try some of the spa and leisure club facilities.

Two small points; there is no aircon in the rooms, which didn't bother us (the windows open) but might be a problem for some. Also, very specifically, the lift call button on the 2nd floor didn't work, which wasn't a big problem for us but might be awkward for those who are less mobile (they are getting it fixed!) The hotel hosts events (weddings etc.) every weekend, and while it didn't bother us, it is worth noting.

The hotel grounds are lovely it's an impressive folly castle. The spa was great. The bistro was fine and food good. The staff are all lovely and very happy to help. Great service. We didn't use the restaurant but it looked nice. Good to have a choice of places to eat. We had an issue with our room on the first night but asked if we could move on the 2nd because it was a Sunday so I thought they would have more availability. It was no problem for them and they dealt with it very smoothly and our new room was lovely. So all in all we had a lovely stay and I would definitely stay again.

We stayed for two nights. The room on our first night although clean and comfortable had a view of a wall so very little natural light and there was a big ladder outside the room. We didn't spend much time in there because of that but once the curtains were shut in the eve it was fine for us and the tv was good as had all the apps you need. However it was a hot eve so we had the window open slightly and were woken up by a loud fan noise which kept us awake. Because of that I asked to move room the next day which was dealt with very well. I think we only got the first room because the hotel was full and we booked late so they probably didn't have another room on that night. The second night the hotel was quieter so we could be moved to a much nicer room. It didn't spoil our stay.

Beautiful building and surrounding gardens. Felt very opulent when strolling around after breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was very big and comfortable.

The beauty is all on the front facade and drive up. The back of the hotel area is a bit messy because some bits are storage areas or less well Maintained stair wells etc so you lose the sense of beauty A little tired and dated inside the hotel rooms and immediate area but the main entrance / bar area is lovely and should be showcased more with more appropriate decor or fittings. Breakfast a bit pricey for what it was and wasn’t hot food was only lukewarm so not really enjoyable and I wasted a lot on day one.

Lovely building, polite and helpful staff throughout. We enjoyed a splendid meal too. Our room was delightful. The hotel warns that there may be noise from events held there, we heard nothing in our room!!

We were attending a wedding (at a different venue) and so had fancy clothes. There was limited hanging space in a cupboard that held the ironing board etc. Insufficient space to hang one, let alone two, outfits. Whilst there was no intrusive noise from events in the hotel itself, the building fronts onto a golf course. At some time between 6 and 7 am on a Saturday morning, the greens man began mowing the grass!
