The check in service had a bit of asparkle to it with extras for children - really unexpected but a thrill for them that really started the holiday on a good note. The room was clean and the extra touches of branded soaps again puts this beyond expecattion. And although as others have said the pool and gym are small they again go beyond what you can expect at this price point especially on a weekend - it provided another space and exciting extra to the holiday. All in all these small additions set the novotel away from the the standard experience.

Fitness centre and pool were really nice water is good temperature and all clean and new room was also clean, and organised, had 2 x bottles of water, tea, coffee and biscuits as complimentary service - these were much appreciated also very good location just behind the train station, and close to Westquay

Sauna was not warm at all, myself and another hotel guest shared this same view Carpet in the room was a bit tired looking and water didn’t drain well from the bath when I had a shower Breakfast for £13 is expensive considering that hotels in the town centre only charge around £7.50

Our room was the cheapest in Southampton for our dates so we were unsure what to expect. However we had a great stay! The cleanliness of the room was far more than I had expected for the price of our trip, we'd brought our own travel cot just in case but we were very happy with the Hotel's one so didn't use our own. The room size was great and the super king bed a bonus! Great location too!

Room was a bit tired, cracked light fittings in the bathroom and textured artex ceilings (and walls in the toilet?!). Breakfast is really pricey and not a huge selection - especially limited with fruit (no bananas!).

The location was brilliant, only a short walk from the train station and we had a large suitcase and two small kids. It was also an easy walk into the city center and only a 10min walk to our cruise port (with footpaths). There was a McDonalds and TGI Fridays beside the hotel. Only 5mins down the road there was a retail park with a Boots and other useful shops. The lobby was nicely decorated and the staff very welcoming.

Superb location for Southampton town centre and our visit to the Mayflower theatre. Everything is within walking distance. This hotel has an incredible breakfast selection to set you up for your day and the indoor pool and sauna was a wonderful treat. All the staff we spoke to were welcoming, professional and kind. We liked the added security touches on the foyer doors and our room was great.

Nothing to mention, although we could hear some noise from the dockyard over the road during the night.

bed was super comfy! easy check in. great function room.

room was very warm.. no air con. opened windows but then had noise of traffic early in morning. vegetarian option for our function dinner wasn’t great.. sliced cauliflower steak quite tough and very spicy. needed some sauce. profiteroles needed more chocolate sauce! but overall well served with excellent staff.

The staff were all so friendly from reception to the bar/restaurant staff. I felt nothing I asked was too much! Super dog and baby friendly! Very accommodating I ate twice in the bar area as I found it difficult to find places that were both dog and baby friendly in the city and the food was beyond delicious was very impressed! I was sat down one day with my baby during lunch and one of the lovely staff came over with a beautiful wooden puzzle for my son! I think for the price I was expecting basic but the staff were much more than that!

Nothing that I didnt like but if I was being picky the Rooms need a little update but I think for the price it was clean and the bed was large and comfortable!

The breakfast was beautifully cooked. Everything was cooked well. One downside, the fried eggs weren’t runny, but you were given the options which would be freshly made for you. There was a good selection of continental and cooked. The leisure facilities were really good. The pool was a nice size. Wasn’t warm, but wasn’t cold. The sauna was nice and hot and the selection of gym equipment available was adequate. As for the rooms, it was spacious. The separate toilet to the bathroom is always a plus in my eyes. The mini fridge was nice and cold. The selection of tea bags, coffee and sugars were nice too. The ironing board and iron were easy to use and the board was a good size. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and will be back in the future.

The only thing that is lacking, is air conditioning. There are desk fans available, but it’s not the same.

Spotlessly clean room and bathroom.The beds were very comfortable. Good location for the town centre. I would definitely choose to stay here again.

I didn't like the fact the toilet is a separate room from the bathroom. The issue of touching the door handle having just used the toilet and not being able to wash hands isn't hygienic in my opinion. How many people have used the toilet, opened the door without washing their hands...? We used new toilet paper to open the door so we didn't have to touch the handle and went to the bathroom to wash our hands.

The bed was comfy, fan was quite good considering it was a small desk fan and no air con. Shower pressure was so good actually too good that it hurt a bit 😂 nice and clean

Water pressure too strong that it hurt a bit. Room service took 45 mins at 1am for a margarita pizza which is strange and also they didn’t have desserts. Plus the WhatsApp number didn’t even work until we regularly phoned them but we could only order pizza. Pool was always full so never got to use it :(
