Entertainment was on until 12 pm & was thinking if people there for quite stay a bit inconvenient but didn't bother us very friendly staff Needs upgrade on carpets in corridors Besides that all OK Needs theam to sell out rooms. It’s a very old hotel but it’s clean and welcoming. The room was large with a spectacular view over the river. Tea and coffee provided with plenty refills. A table with 2 chairs at the window so you could sit and enjoy the view Take time to explore the hundreds of stuff displayed, some very old, some junk but mostly interesting Beautiful stain glass windows on the staircase . Free WiFi which was very good Walk out the door and you are central to the town and river.

The lift was efficient but very small, it said 6 people but 2 large would struggle especially with luggage.

Was a lovely old hotel in a great location. Views from our room over the water were lovely. Food at McNabs was lovely, and the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Was very quiet even with the live music in the bar. Would definitely return

The one let down for us was the bathroom. It had definitely seen better days. It was clean, but the bottom of the shower curtain was moldy, could do with a spruce up!

A perfect location to explore, with a lovely High Street on the door step with plenty of shops & pubs. With the river opposite and the beautiful waterfalls not far away, it's a perfect base. We had a lovely big room on the front. There was food available. On the Friday night there was live music, which was fabulous, such a great atmosphere. All in all we would definitely stop there again if or when we were back in the area.

The hotel is on a great location on the corner on the main street in Callander with plenty of public parking behind. It's ajoined to the pub on the ground floor MacNabs which offers great entertainment and lovely food and service. The family room we were in was nice, big and clean if not a bit tired looking around the edges. The traffic noise is cancelled out by the double glazing. The hotel foyer and landings have a very Scottish feel to them which people visiting from abroad are sure to like. There is also a cute little carpeted elevator for less mobile people reaching the upper levels.

The massive plastic perspex at the reception area is a bit offputting when paying for the room or asking the staff a question. It's clearly something put up during Covid but it acts as a bit of a barrier due to the height of it. Breakfast isn't included in the price of the room and while the breakfast itself is lovely with plenty on offer some might expect it as part of the room cost.

we were supposedly booked into another hotel and at the last minute we were told there was no booking. thankfully there was a room available at the Dreadnought hotel for us. it worked out better for us and have no negatives to report and certainly value for money and a brilliant base to any of the activities available to the area. will stay again no problem at all.

it needs some tlc but thats asthetics as staff are all friendly and has a friendly ambience.

Stayed one night at the Dreadnought Hotel whilst visiting Callander. For two blokes ( me and my brother) not looking for all mod cons, it was perfect. Our room, though basic, was clean, warm and well presented. Beds were comfortable and bedsheets were crisp. Coupled with WiFi, a small TV and en suite ( shower was plumbed and pressure was superb...Best I've had actually) it was exactly what we needed. Concierge was cheery, polite and very helpful. The Dreadnought Hotel has a bit of old style class about her albeit a bit past her best however lots to love. Lots of old paintings and historical pieces adorn the walls and large stained glass windows within, making her rather grand and well worth looking around. We intend returning to Callander soon and will, of course, be back to the Dreadnought Hotel. Well recommended.

For us, there wasn't anything we disliked although the hotel was a little chilly ( March) wandering the passageways, minor really. Our room, however, was well heated and cosy.

Fantastic to see this icon rise from the ashes, steeped in history,,amazing pictures and bric back from times past. A credit to the amazing work and investment owners have put in. Excellent management on site. Very dog friendly,,, Dreadnsught was the battle cry of Clan McNab, and fitting the bar area keeps name alive,,lovely stay, and mixture of locals in bar McNab along with day visitors and residents, a real place,,not plastic ocd kid on have a nice day sort of place.

The fact we will not be back for a few weeks. The fact we had to go home. The fact we leftvit so long to revisit.

I absolutely love this hotel. It’s just the sort of thing that appeals to me - it’s an old building and the decor is dated and kitschy, but for me that’s one of the best things about it. I’ve stayed here a few times now and the staff are amazing - they can’t do enough for you. The rooms are spotlessly clean with a lot of space, huge bathrooms and lovely bay windows looking out to the street and the river beyond. The lift is a quirky old style lift that adds an element of fun. comfortable beds and the room was very cosy and warm. The television is situated in the perfect spot to sit or lie in bed and watch a bit of TV. Free parking at the back but arrive early because it’s quite a small car park. The location is perfect with a really good Chinese restaurant across the road, a Tesco beside it and a fish and chip shop nearby. Right in the middle of town, it’s a handy stroll to Callander’s high street which has many, many diverse and interesting shops and cafe’s. You’ll get a lovely welcome here and your stay will be absolutely enjoyable. The price is incredible for how lovely the hotel is, and it’s clear the staff are dedicated to making sure the rooms are perfect.

The only thing I would say, and this didn’t bother me at all, it that it’s on a busy road and the traffic noise is quite loud. I always bring earplugs for an overnight stay anyway. The kitchen and bar are currently not open - but this really isn’t an issue since there are lots of lovely restaurants and pubs within a 5 minute walk along the High street -don’t let it put you off!
