Great location in town, but it's still calm. Bread and scones are baking in the morning, and you are in comfortable surroundings. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The garden area is lovely on a sunny day. The snacks in the garden were fresh and homemade. It's been a long time since I asked for handcut chips, and that's actually what was served! We had drinks later sitting in the front room, the service the decor and the music were all very relaxing.

It isn't really a dislike -I would have loved the chance to try more of the food but didn't want a full set menu in the evening. I can understand why they do this. It is their craft to keep the cooking standards so high and to provide high-quality restaurant food and service.. it just smelled so good! But I eat little and often... so it was really my fault. Next time I will definitely prepare for a big meal because I would love to try that menu!

Breakfast was excellent. Love dogs and their dog was so cute but the dog was a wee bit too close while we were eating.

Overall good but the bathroom door in the room has a crease in the middle which allows your travel Buddy to see you in there. While most people won’t look in there it’s a bit unnerving. This could be a simple and non expensive fix -also opening and closing the door was terribly loud.

The food was excellent. An interesting evening menu and everything was beautifully cooked and presented.

I was disappointed that Booking.com did not communicate satisfactorily with the property. We were invited to book an evening meal for the first night but when we arrived we were told that no meals were being served that night. As we had chosen the hotel for the dining experience, it was very disappointing not to be able to have a meal both evenings. This was not the fault of the hotel. It was incorrect information from Booking.com

We received a lovely welcome by a very friendly husband and wife team. Plenty of time to chat and made us feel like family. The 5 course tasting menu cooked by Nick as a very experienced professional chef was delicious and a very sociable event. Breakfast menu had excellent choice and the food was beautifully presented. On the whole, our stay was good. For breakfast, you have to choose from the night before and there is a good selection. Cereals and juices were available in a buffet style. The food was good and the hotel was clean.

The size of the bathroom especially the shower. The floors were squeaky and being a light sleeper you end up waking up. The locks of the doors can be a bit tough till you get used to them.

lovely people - and dog! nice homely touches and really liked the family run vibe. really nice food and comfy beds.

one small thing - the bulbs in the overhead light in the dining room were white light, so very chilly for the evening. Warm light would have matched the decor and dinner vibe better.

Clean ,comfortable everything you needed for short stay (homemade shortbread great touch delicious)

Noisy toilet,squeaky toilet door,coloured towels (not a fan of)tv channels not working nothing that would stop us from staying again

The food was delicious. Best meal I’ve had in a long time. Staff extremely helpful especially with storing our bikes and suggesting bike routes. Great location.

En suite door quite flimsy and didn’t close easily. Mattresses a bit springy.

Nick & Susannah were very welcoming, breakfast was wonderful, great quality food, 3 courses, with home made shortbread too. Good location and quality bed & bedding. Lovely view from the Twin Room.

The wooden "sliding door" in twin room was a bit noisy during the night to use.

The room was very comfortable, and breakfast was very good. Right in the centre of the high street so very good location.

The bathroom wouldn't shut properly.
