The staff very extremely helpful. We were walking the Thames path with our dog and had managed to get very wet and muddy. Mark was so helpful in getting us sorted. A lovely hot shower and very comfortable bed. Perfect at the end of a very long walk. We ate in the restaurant. The food was delicious Kenyan/English fusion. The restaurant staff were so cheerful and very happy to help us with our menu decisions.

The code system to get back into the building is really the only drawback. We should have written them down and taken a photo so we had them on our phone. We liked being able to leave independently in the morning and had no trouble exciting via the fire exit but this might be difficult for those less mobile.

Great location in the centre of Cricklade on the High Street. Looks like the rooms have been recently decorated. My room was small but comfortable. The shower was great. Easy reach to restaurants, the Thai behind the Vale is great. Couple of cafes to choose from nearby to have breakfast. Easy system for checking out.

The Vale does have a restaurant but it unfortunately wasn't open when I stayed. The stairs will be a problem for those with limited mobility, especially the external spiral staircase used for access when the pub is closed. Tea & coffee provided but no biscuits.

The atmosphere! Not only were the staff incredibly friendly and helpful but the other guests went out of their way to make you feel welcome too. I was expecting cheap and cheerful - I especially got the cheerful! And the Thai food was great too - not to mention that the owner moved heaven and earth to make sure I got it!

The back staircase. The pub is closed in the morning and to leave you have to exit via a very tight exterior spiral staircase. It’s no fun with a large suitcase. Please note that this is a quibble rather than a major issue - I navigated it perfectly safely and I’m sure that the management are aware of the issue (they seem both enthusiastic and proactive).

Warm welcome from host. Shown to room with excellent communication. Room single as booked. Super clean. Super comfortable bed Fast stable wifi Surprisingly quiet at night given on main roads which is plagued by constant heavy vehicles and traffic. Excellent value right in the heart of historic Cricklade

Suggest remove or modify motion sensor light in bathroom. It might be a good idea in daytime but is horrible when you have to get up in the night. Bright light known to restart the circadian rhythm and makes it difficult to go back to sleep. Despite the very comfy bed!

Rooms were very clean, staff friendly and welcoming, good sized rooms, and a solid location for exploring the Cotswolds by car. Plenty of charm about the place too.

The fire escape spiral staircase that is used as the only entry and exit point for guests when reception isn't open is pretty dangerous, as other reviewers have said. I slipped down one of the steps one morning when it was wet. I'm quite strong and fairly young, if I was an old chap, I might well have fallen down the stairs. They'll have an guest accident on their hands at some point if they don't change this arrangement.

The room was great! Quiet with nice view of Cricklade. Iain, the host is not always there, but he guides you in with the appropriate door codes and directions. There is unlimited street parking almost right outside, so good in that respect too. When you leave you just lock up and pop the key in the safe outside the door. Real value for money accommodation.

The spiral staircase outside is really narrow. It was pouring with rain when I arrived so it was slippery. Not for the infirm! Odd going into an unoccupied building, but in France it happens all the time - just unusual in the UK.

The staff member who checked us in was brilliant; he explained all necessary information to my daughter rather than to me, showed her the fire exit, how to get in and out. She loved it. The hotel was a really lovely historic building, nothing was straight and there were lots of nooks and crannies. The room was very comfortable and clean.

The only problem for me was the road noise. Our room was right opposite the junction of the main incoming road and the town's high street.

The bed was super comfy , the food was out of this world and the staff were friendly and fun . I travelled alone and wasn’t short of company at the bar as the host included everyone in conversations

My room was next to the rooftop terrace and I guess as it was a Friday had people having a good time so an early night wasn’t possible ( if I’d have wanted one )

Great location and value. The team were very helpful and friendly. I stayed for one night as was touring around on a motorcycle on my own and they went out of their way to recommend places to see etc. They even helped me to put my motorcycle out of sight in a shed overnight. I had my breakfast there in the morning which was also great. I would definitely recommend and would stay again.

The room was small and cosy but all the facilities were absolutely great.

Large comfortable room, a lovely terrace out the back (shared with a very good Thai restaurant), nice people in a quiet and pleasant country town. Perfect when visiting the Cotswolds for a summer wedding. Our host Mark is making improvements but our room was just fine. One thing to note is that the main entrance is locked at night so you may need to enter/exit via an external spiral staircase. Not a problem for us. Oh and also easy parking down the side street by the church. Thanks for your hospitality.
