Breakfast was substantial and freshly cooked to order. Dinner was equally so. However, the white wine was served at room temperature and had to be sent back - to the bar in pre-dinner drinks and at the table when a new bottle was opened and sent back to be chilled with the result that we had eaten our meal before the wine chilled. This is unacceptable in a hotel of this calibre and detracted from our enjoyment.

Housekeeping left a lot to be desired. The hostess tray was never fully re-stocked. We were left with no toilet paper on one day and had to ask reception to send some. The floor in the bathroom (and elsewhere) did not appear to have been swept at all while we were there and the bathroom floor certainly had not been mopped and/or disinfected. Glasses were not washed, just left on the table.

We chose this hotel as it was near to the arboretum where we were meeting family the next day. We had a large cool comfortable room and bathroom. We had a wonderful meal in the restaurant. Best pork chop I think I’ve ever had! Lovely restful atmosphere. Excellent staff who were welcoming and professional. There was a wedding taking place when we were there and you would never have known. The service to residents was not lessened because of it. We weren’t disturbed by any noise either. One of the best hotel stays we have had in a long time and will need to find an excuse to come back. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so lovely.

No complaints at all.

Breakfast was excelent. Room delightful. Staff were attentive, but could of been better. Table was laid for 3, Toast & Coffee was served only for 2. Had to request more coffee & toast repeatedely, Buffet was excellent for breakfast, and so was the Full English breakfast

We had drinks outside the bar after unpacking. We went inside & ordewred a bottle of wine & a glass of coke. The tables were very dirty, [water marks from previous drinks etc. When asked for a cloth, J cloth etc I was given one. No offer of cleaning the table or the other tables [which were all dirty] . I cleaned the table & returned the very dirty cloth to the bar tender. The bar was not busy. The little things make the occasion.

Location great. Dinners in Jack Hare’s bar excellent. Efficient staff and service. Especially pleasant was the young Australian waiter who served us most nights. Lovely guy. We wish him well on his further travels. Dog friendly throughout our stay which was lovely. Silk wood access room is a good size for two people and a big dog. Good shower, excellent large towels and amenities.

Usually love the porridge for breakfast but unfortunately during our stay this time it was lumpy and not very warm. Also had scrambled egg and salmon one morning which was not good. Salmon had been cooked into the rubbery eggs instead of laying fresh on top of them . Looked a mess and was disappointing. Staff pleasant and efficient and offered to replace food, but it was not a big deal so we declined.

Food was good and accommodation was adequate but not exceptional - some cobwebs round back of the bed and windows could have done with a clean.

There was a wedding party on on the Friday night which the Hotel did warn us about - which was fine - but our room was at the back of the hotel where the function was and where the wedding party spilled out onto the gardens and there was noise and activity until late (midnight). Children and guests of the party were running around in the garden until midnight. A room at the front of the hotel might have suited us better.

Huge room!! Made it very easy to move about in and was very comfortable. Lovely grounds and different bits to explore. Staff were particularly helpful and friendly, especially when I left a USB drive with photos behind in the room after checkout. Oops! But they swiftly recovered it. Breakfast plentiful and lots of choice.

Valance covers on the beds could use a good clean (or replacing) and the wooden floors pick up a lot of dust/dirt which you track in to bed - a rug or two would be great, but I’m being super picky here! It didn’t detract from the comfort!

The hotel location was peaceful and tranquil. The restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient and the breakfast was excellent. The dining room was decorated very good as all other rooms. We liked the hotels own pub next to the hotel. Lovely grounds to sit out and have a drink. 2 minutes drive to the Westonbirt arboretum and a short drive to Tetbury village.

It would of been useful to have in our room details of the hotels facilities e.g. meal times, menu's, wifi details etc. We booked an afternoon tea, but was told it would be delayed for 30 minutes as there had been a slight hiccup but apologies were made and were offered a complimentary glass of prosseco. As it was an hour wait we didn't feel happy to pay the service charge, the manager apologised and quickly rectified this by charging us only for one afternoon tea, which we were happy with. The new menu for the afternoon tea was delicious and a bit different from the norm as there was a option to have savoury in place of the sweet treats.

The aesthetic nature of the hotel drew us in right from the start. The room were a comfortable bijou size, enough room to get around while encapsulating the pokey nature of old British buildings. The room was well decorated and well lit. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the digital clock on the bedside table was a lovely added touch. The soaps in the bathroom were beautiful and very fragrant. There was a safe provided, free of charge, for valuables. This was located in a roomy wardrobe that also included bathrobes, extra pillows, iron and ironing board and a hairdryer. There was an electric heater in the room if needed but we didn't!

Car park is a bit of a walk from reception and we found there wasn't much signage to bring us from the car park to the main hotel. The first evening we arrived we ended up in Jack's Hare!

Great location for visiting some of the key places in the local area, beautiful building with lovely restaurant and bar area. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were all brilliant. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

We stayed in a superior room, it was very nice with a comfy bed, nice shower. The only minor thing was there was dust in areas of the room that could have been easily cleaned. I wouldn’t have expected it for a superior room at that price point and given that the rest of the hotel was spotless

Very good breakfast. Perfect location for visiting places we wanted to see such as Highgrove and Westonbirt Arboretum. Also not too far from Bath or into the Cotswolds. The staff were all very good. Very helpful but also friendly and efficient. A very attractive place to stay and easy to find. Plenty of parking. Lovely room.

The only downside was the very small menu with only a slight variation between the bar and restaurant. Not a problem if only staying for 1 night but we were there for 3 and ended up eating in on the 3rd night as the weather was so awful.
