Breakfast was great. Location was good. Our cottage was nice and clean. Perfect for our family of four.

The heating in our room wasn’t working but the lady at the desk was very helpful when we asked for it to be sorted. We were also given a portable heater. The staff who was at reception when we checked wasn’t smiling, didn’t seem friendly and accommodating. She was the same one who served our breakfast and never smiled. She looked very unhappy. Please remind your staff to smile more often at guests as it can make a very big difference.

The location was lovely, the room was very spacious and the staff were all super friendly. The bar area downstairs had nice decor and there was a lovely outside seating area. The breakfast also tasted great and was served quickly.

Unfortunately the cleaning of the room could’ve been better. There were cob webs all around the ceiling, above the beds and in the bathroom. If someone went round with a feather duster this could’ve been sorted in a few minutes. There was also a lot of dust across the tops of the curtains. Again this would’ve been a quick fix if someone quickly ran over it with a hoover. The breakfast was lovely but it was a shame there was only one rasher of bacon and no bread with the breakfast.

Location suited us perfectly for Cotswolds. The colourful entrance and bar area photos showing the settees and relaxing area appealed to our taste, looked great and didn’t disappoint when we arrived. All of the staff (reception and dining area) were really helpful, chatty and friendly. Our room was a comfortable large double with a super king size bed and en suite. The breakfast was cooked to perfection and there was sausage for our dog too, who was allowed access to all hotel areas. Plenty of car parking available and a grassed area to allow our dog to stretch her legs. We would certainly stay here again. Thanks very much Pettifers.

The following narrative isn’t about what I didn’t like but refers to observations I made during our stay. There were a couple of areas that need a little bit of TLC to improve on what is a great hotel ie entrance door porch area wallpaper, no en-suite window blind, dining table top surfaces were scratched & worn.

The staff were amazing - very friendly, and attentive. The lady on reception had treats for our dog, and was very friendly. Also, we had an evening meal in the restaurant, which was fantastic, serving Indian food (I had a salmon sizzler, which was nicely spiced, without the heat). The restaurant, and bar managers were very attentive, and the waitress (whom also served breakfast the next day - also very good!) went above and beyond, particularly for our dog, who got a sausage at breakfast! The room was basic, but we each had a bed(family room with three beds), which were very comfortable, and the bathroom spacious. The hotel is also in a nice country location, in the Cotswolds, near to lots of nice little villages, and towns. Also, only 15/20 minutes from Westonbirt Arboretum, which is well worth a visit.

It was fine, but the shower was over the bath, and the bathroom was spacious enough for a separate shower cubicle. The accommodation block, where we stayed, and the rear of the hotel were a bit ‘tired’.

Both me and my dog were made so welcome. She was wet and very muddy when we arrived, but, when I asked, we were given access to a hose, and lent towels to clean her off before going to our room. The toom was tastefully decorated, the bed was super comfy and the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. Dinner was simple and tasty. On recommendation by the host we headed into Tetbury for the wool sack races the next day which was unusual and fun. Definitely recommend Pettifers.

Breakfast was a bit disappointing. I ordered coffee, but it was ages before my order for breakfast was taken. I wasn't offered toast (which possibly could be available at the buffet table?) and when I asked for some, it came late and cold. The dog didn't get the sausage she was promised either, but I can understand that being forgotten.

Pettifers is a country pub we chose solely for its locational convenience but turned out to be much better than we expected. Well furnished and with real character, and good food much better cooked than your average country pub, provided by a very professional operation run personally by Neil. Our upgraded room - not requested but provided at no extra cost - was comfortable and well furnished and beautifully quiet. Having stayed previously at other more pretentious and expensive hotels nearby we will have no hesitation in preferring Pettifers when in the area.

Nothing.

Staff were very friendly & helpful and the hotel was conveniently placed. Room was comfortable enough for a solo traveller. Breakfast was tasty & filling if a bit chaotic when they were busy.

Hotel is a little worn around the edges & there were a few cobwebs in the room, lots of marks on walls & floors and some mould & peeling paint in the bathroom. Nothing horrendous and perfectly adequate, maybe just in need of a freshen up.

I found the staff really friendly and welcoming, I'd certainly choose to return if I am in the area. The menus had some unusual choices as well as standard fare and that's always welcome. Lovely location, outside dining and beautiful garden. Also dog friendly - I really felt at home.

Unfortunately I'd only booked 2 nights. That meant I didn't get near exhausting the choices on the menu. I could have spent more time exploring the area too.

Reception is beautiful and a good location for exploring the Cotswolds. Hotel is dog friendly and we enjoyed seeing all the guest's dogs. All the staff were very attentive and provided great service.

Once you go upstairs to the room the building ages a lot. Old carpets, old vinil flooring in the bathroom, old TV. For the price we paid I thought the standard of the rooms would match reception so it was a surprise.

The hotel was very close to the venue we were at for a dog show. The car park was at the back of the property so our vehicle & dogs were safe. The hotel is dog friendly & welcomes well behaved dogs with open arms. The food was excellent. The staff are very friendly, helpful & welcoming. There is a public footpath opposite the hotel. Ideal for walking the dogs. We met villagers & they were friendly & interested in our dogs. All in all an excellent weekend away. Thank you.
