The welcome at the door was perfect as was the rest of our 2 night stay. The staff were so informative, helpful and friendly. There was 7 of us stopping and another 5 people joining us at various points of our celebratory weekend in Uttoxeter, and all of us were welcomed with a friendly smile. The evening food was absolutely mouth watering, at first glance it was a different menu to what we had expected when we booked but we were all pleasantly surprised at how amazing the food was. Compliments to the kitchen staff for presentation, speed of service, flavour and portion size ;-). Some of my party did partake in the breakfast, I was not one of them however I only was given good reviews of the choice and taste. As it was a race weekend we expected it to be busy and it was..... but this did not faze any of the staff they accommodated all of our party as if we were their only customers the service was faultless. We had been warned that due to the nature of the weekend throughout Uttoxeter it may be noisy through the evening/night however I can't say that this bothered us. The bar was open, as would be expected until around midnight, and yes it could be heard in our room but it is obvious with the style of building that the owners have done all they can to reduce noise heard in the rooms. This was nothing that I wouldn't expect from a property of this type. The rooms were comfortable and spacious, they looked as if they had been recently decorated, and I think this was a process that was on going at the time of our stay so we only saw a snippet of what's to come. I really can't wait to visit again and see what's in store. Good Luck to these guys and gals, they really deserve to succeed.

I've really tried to think of a negative that is worth mentioning but I really can't. The ownership of the property had changed since we had booked, so yes there were some changes to what we expected however everything that we encountered exceeded our expectations so I really can't say anything negative.

Building and hotel decor was lovely, bar area was really nice, Breakfast was really nice. Rooms are spacious and bed is really comfortable, the room has what you need, dressing table area, hangers. good selection of tea and coffee and biscuits. I would stay here again and i would recommend, staff were really friendly and it is in a great location within the town.

car park is tight on space. room was nice and clean, however my lamp in the room did not work, the kettle was not great, it didn't click off after boiling point and the the bin in the bathroom was broke. it was only minor details that let it down but for the price I thought we wouldn't have minor details.

The room was really well laid out & spacious. It was clean & lived up to our expectations from the pictures. We had eaten at the hotel earlier in the day whilst visiting family & the food/service was really good so we decided to check out the availability for a room & the price was more than reasonable so we took it. Really happy to see bottled water in the room along with hot drinks as you don’t usually get this so I’d brought my own bottled water but it was a nice touch. The surrounding area was beautiful & everything you needed was no more than a few minutes walk away.

There wasn’t much communication on check in. Which is fine for someone like myself who travels a lot with work but maybe not so much for someone who isn’t used to spending a night somewhere new. And there was no communication on check out so we just had to leave our key at the front desk with no staff around. The smoke alarm in our room went off within 30 seconds of us entering for no apparent reason & a couple more times throughout the evening. We presume there was another floor above as it sounded like someone was going to come through the ceiling whenever they walked across the floor. But it wasn’t unbearable.

The bedroom was really good size with a modern bath & shower en suite, with tea/ coffee complimentary tray including nice biscuits, very comfortable queen double bed & the room we were given was lovely & quiet, it’s location is perfect right in the centre of town, also had a lovely bar & restaurant, with well kept outside seating area. The hotel was spotless & had a modern feel but in keeping with some traditional features very pleasant indeed all round,

No negatives from my wife & myself

A group holiday for Alton towers the hotel was close enough to the park but great value for money, Asda nearby for any missing or last min purchases and the restaurant and bar in the hotel is fantastic, highly recommend the chicken risotto the portion was very generous and super tasty and filling. Breakfast was also amazing with a good variety of options including pancakes, full English and eggs Benedict (these were 10/10 we all loved them) The size of the rooms were a great size we had a mix of superior double and the 4 poster bed. Very large and spacious rooms nice and clean bathrooms and lots of space for storage. Bed was firm but in my opinion very comfy with clean sheets. The bar was good and there was a pool table which had contactless payment which was nice and easy to use and set a game up

The bar was quite rowdy, it does seem to be a mix of younger folks who may be local and hotel residents. So it can be a bit loud and boisterous. There was only 1 pool cue apparently meant to be 3 but no-one really seemed to know where they were but we made do! Cocktails could use a little work, we had a porn star martini which was like syrup in a glass so bar staff could perhaps use some training and guidance on how to make the menu.

Check-in was a little strange as had four different people trying to help all doing the same thing instead of having one person at the door handling things. The hotel itself is lovely and all staff friendly and welcoming. Was nice as it felt like a locals place to come as well as hotel guests. Great location if you are heading to Alton Towers as only 15-20 mins drive.

The shower was tricky to use and ended up getting the floor soaked by accident. There was a strange smell coming from the toilet so maybe this should require looking into. The teas looked cute in the cups however when you take them all out and use the one you want it then looks a mess so maybe an extra container specifically to hold them in would have been better. Also we didn’t actually have any coffee in ours.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was clean, spacious and the bed was really comfortable. Had tea in the restaurant and the food was delicious. Beautiful building. Would definitely stay again but would request a room on the top floor.

Unfortunately I'm a super light sleeper. As it's an old building we could hear everything in our room on the first floor. We were woken up by somebody walking around in the room above us at 6:30am, which continued until 9:20am. Somebody was clearly trying to get all of their daily steps in before breakfast. This is by no way the fault of the hotel and why exactly the guest upstairs walked around their room for almost 2 hours is not only a mystery but also none of our business. However, the floor boards were extremely creaky and super loud in our room. It even woke my teenage daughter up which is usually near impossible.

Loved the room. The main room and en suite were very spacious and bright, the room had plenty of storage space, a little table / mirror set-up which was ideal for getting ready to go out. All the windows opened (with fall prevention devices). The bed was super comfortable. Private hotel parking was a bonus although on-street parking close by was ample. We never ate at the hotel but the breakfast looked lovely, we did have a few drinks which were reasonably priced.

You might find it noisy Bear in mind the rooms are situated right above a bar/pub which does play music into the night. It's not very loud and didn't keep us awake, but I can see how if you were a light sleeper this might be annoying. The main entrance to the hotel also has a large courtyard for dining/drinks shared with another pub, this will probably be busy (noisy) at certain times as well if your room happens to be looking onto the front courtyard.

Location to company site Ambiance overall The service staff who were prepared for my later than planned arrival and sorted a key issue quickly The temperature of the room (cool) which makes it easier to sleep

The mix up with the keys. First key didn’t open the room which involved lots of stairs to reach and there was somebody else in there! So had to walk all the way back to reception to report and be given the key to another room. That said the team did sort it quickly

I stay here whenever in the region for work. Rooms are excellent although this time my room (room 1) the heating could not be turned off. this meant i had to leave the windows open which meant all the road noise kept waking me. Dinner, Chicken kebab, was fantastic and highly recommended. Staff are very professional and helpful. Really good value for money and recommend this hotel if you are in the area.

Could not turn the heating off in the room.
