Smashing village inn set in the English countryside. Accommodations are great and the food is marvelous. Kingsdon is managed by a super couple, Adam and Cinzia. (I hope they get an opportunity to have their own place one day.) Their service commitment is enviable. Stayed one night and planned dinner for 3 people here. Adam (chef) offers a surprising array of food items to choose from. Their kitchen pulls it off. Great presentation. Great flavors. Cinzia (front of house and a master of managing chaos I think :) is so nice. Everyone in my dinner party really enjoyed their dinner and the ambiance. Breakfast next morning was something to behold. I'm glad I changed my mind. I asked if I could have it the next day. Didn't want to live with that regret :) I would definitely like to return again with my wife next time.

Nothing

Everything! The staff were so helpful and friendly. They worked around our request to check in outside their standard opening hours, they were so attentive to our needs. We were given milk in a flask to keep it cool, bottled water in our rooms, lovely tea and coffee. It was quiet, clean, cosy really well decorated. The bed was very comfy too. Everyone was friendly and really welcoming. They were so easy to talk to and just all lovely people. The location is beautiful. The inn itself is a real gem: thatched roofed, nestled in a picturesque little village but with modern touches that fit really nicely with the traditional features. We hope we can bring our son back one day to have a play on the lovely park across the road! And the breakfast… the breakfast was just wonderful: no exaggeration when I say it’s the best we’ve ever had. Every single bit of it was the best of what could be offered. The chef was really friendly too and clearly very talented! We really hope we can come back for dinner one day! We stayed here for a wedding that was about 20 minutes away and we actually ended up wishing that we had booked an extra night so that we could properly enjoy our stay. We were sad to leave!

Nothing. We loved it. In fact, we are already trying to think of a reason to go back!

I had booked tickets for myself and my husband to visit the Fleet Air Arm Museum on the Wednesday and Haynes Motor Museum on Thursday as a birthday and Father's Day present! I found The Kingsdon Inn on Booking.com to stay on the evening of the Wednesday as it was quite convenient for both museums. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay as the village was very quiet and the views of beautiful Somerset were far reaching and gorgeous. The accommodation was stunning; we stayed in room 2. Being able to walk up side stairs right into the thatch roof was a new experience. The room was extremely light and airy and very clean. Our evening meal was tasty; we decided to eat at The Kingsdon Inn but best of all was breakfast! The orange juice was delicious and there were cereals laid out for us to help ourselves to while we waited for our cooked breakfast. I chose the muesli, which I think was homemade. We were treated to a home made tomato relish with breakfast, home made fruit compote and marmalade and very crispy and delicious bacon, which I normally wouldn't choose. Perfect eggs and sausages, everything was local and extremely well cooked. I was offered some mint tea, which was fresh from the garden. I need to try and make myself some now! Luverly...Thank you to both proprietors who made our stay smashing. Very friendly and welcoming!

Everything was perfect.

The Kingsdon Inn is located in a beautiful setting in a quiet village like from a fairy tale. From the very start they offered an exceptional food and service. It was literarily the best steak we have ever tried in our lifetime! The staff was kind and cool at the same time, they managed to have a great conversation while still beeing on their tasks. The cadance of meals was also perfect, served on time and they doublechecked if all was good half way through service. Breakfast served by the chef himself, really kind and professional guy who made the steaks a night before. As we spoke to other guests they confirmed their food was also top quality. As we booked last minute via booking.com we had some promo discount and stuff included which was great! Room was modest yet stylish and had all you need for one night stay and beyond. We slept wonderfully in the most comfortable bed and top quality bed linnens. Room also had a fantastic shower with great steady tempreature and water prrassure. Dog was not just allowed but treated wonderfully by the staff. He didn't want to leave in the morning. The place had such a good vibe. Great location to take Jane Austine's style romantic walks in English countryside.

There was not a single thing we disliked...place was just perfect!

Modernised old property so very comfy. Quiet.

Poor reception on telly. The pub is closed on Sunday evening, mon & Tuesday so no breakfast is available on Mon &Tues morning( which we get-people need a day off) so a fridge in the room or in the room at the top of the stairs so that we could have our own breakfast in the room would have been helpful. It would have been good to have the Wi-Fi code on a card in the room. We forgot to ask at check in and by the time we wanted to use it the pub was closed.

Peaceful location. Warm, friendly and efficient welcome. Comfortable and clean room. Superb breakfast. We had booked for dinner in the evening and it was excellent, beautifully cooked and really tasty with lovely service from the staff throughout.

Our room was directly above the pub and we could here the pub noise. However it turned out not to be a problem because after dinner it was totally quiet. This wouldn't stop us staying again.

Delicious breakfast, very comfortable room, excellent ambience in bar/restaurant with very pleasant music. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and conversation was interesting. The situation in the attractive quiet village was very convenient for the A303 and the beautiful garden at Lytes Carey about 5 mins away.

Nothing important.

It was fairly close to A303 and Sparkford Hall where we were attending a family wedding. Breakfast was delicious with some unusual flavours (spiced apricots) and beautifully presented. Our room was prepared early for us. 😊 Thank you very much. The nightcap was so welcome to round off a great day.

Can't think of anything!

The breakfast was superb. With extra little touches (home made bread) lovely local produce. The room was very comfortable and welcoming. We were visiting friends so it was a bonus that our overnight stay turned into a little holiday break!

There were definitely no negatives

Despite the age of the Inn, it is beautifully appointed and charming. Since the Inn is closed Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays, we weren’t able to take advantage of the wonderful food we hear they have. Food is available about 5 miles away. We’d definitely stay again!
