This hotel is very close to the centre of York and only about 10 minutes walk from the Minster. The owners are very friendly and welcoming plus they include little details that make you think they really care about their hotel. The rooms are all tastefully decorated and have plenty of lighting and lots of plugs, including USB ports. There is a mini bar, snacks and complimentary tea and coffee. They included a couple of homemade biscuits as well as home-produced spiced apple tea. Even the bar of soap in the bathroom was homemade. Breakfast is well organised. You place your order the day before, give the time and you get a cooked breakfast served promptly. Plus they even offer homemade sourdough bread, granola, jams and marmalade as part of that breakfast. I had a problem with my car and Paul checked it out and, when he couldn't help, gave me details of a local garage.

The parking was good, at the back of the hotel but you have to be prepared to double park and leave your car keys in a locker so the owners can move the cars, if necessary. I hadn't planned to use my car for the weekend so wasn't an issue but worth highlighting.

What a little gem we found. We always stay in hotels on our visits to York, but this little B&B gives that lovely personal touch. The hosts Fr re very elcwoming and helpful. The rooms are nicely decorated, with comfy beds, tea and coffee facilities, a fridge and a lovely perk of homemade biscuits and a little carafe of sherry. The breakfasts are delicious, cooked by Paul and you are given a wide selection to choose from. There is also fresh fruit, cereals, croissants, yogurts and lovely homemade jams, everything you could want. We would definitely recommend and are already looking forward to next year's Valentine weekend.

Paul & Fiona were excellent hosts, very warm, welcoming, and helpful. The room was amazing - the facilities were excellent. Very large and comfy bed, very high standard of cleanliness. Complimentary tea, coffee, homemade biscuits, and even a small carafe of sherry! Location was also excellent - only a 5-10 minute walk straight into the centre. Free parking was also available if requested in advance. This was a really valuable addition. Incredible breakfast - everything either homemade or local. Very generous buffet selection of fresh fruit, homemade granola, yoghurt, croissants, and homemade jam and butter. Cooked breakfast made to order and ordered the night before, so very fresh and not over-cooked/made in advance - everything tasted amazing. We will absolutely be staying again!

The house is lovely. Good location for york 10 mins walk. The room offered in second place was very nice as we did pay a higher rate possibly as booked quite far in advance. Breakfast very nice. Sherry and coffee making facilities.

Service at breakfast is a little too attentive for us. Would be nice to help yourself to coffee and jam which was brought over. The jam was just a teaspoon worth and didn't really want to ask for more. The toast slices were more like bread and quite small slices but the breakfast was large so made up for that. We have been twice and each time been put on top floor so a lot of stairs.

I could not have chosen a better place to stay in York! Paul + Fiona are fantastic hosts. Breakfast is delicious, including home made butter + soda bread. Super cosy rooms, very comfy beds, a minibar in our room + scrummy homemade biscuits - delightful. I stayed for business as I had a film in competition at the Asthetica short film festival + I had my mum with me. She only has a small appetite + this was taken into consideration at breakfast. I’m a keen runner and it turns out they love running too. From a late breakfast on Saturday as I ran parkrun, to recommending running routes to lending me their foam roller after my Sunday morning plod, MonkBridge House was everything i hoped for in our stay and more. Thank you so much :)

Nothing - it was perfect.

We loved the location of MonkBridge House. It was only a 5 minute walk to York Minister and about 10 mins to The Shambles and Christmas Markets. Our room on the top floor was clean, spacious and comfortable bed. The host provided a kettle to make tea and coffee and also left homemade shortbread. There was also fresh milk for a cuppa and a bottle of water provided. There was a mini bar with reasonable prices for drinks and snacks. The host provided a delicious breakfast with great choices of Full English breakfast, cereals, yoghurts, pastries, homemade bread, jam and marmalade. Sourdough with avocado and choice of eggs, omelettes and French toast.. One of the best breakfast we have had. Would definitely stay at MonkBridge again.

Everything about MonkBridge House was excellent. The rooms were well proportioned and had all the facilities you could require. The bed was comfortable and the linen top quality. The bathroom had a floor level small courtesy light that came on automatically to save fumbling for a switch or illuminating the bedroom. The room also contained a desk and chair and a coffee table and chairs with plenty of power points that incorporated charging points. The decor also complimented the overall age and style of property. Breakfast had a wide range of options and was, wherever possible, homemade. The Irish soda bread was particularly nice. There were also a number of other unexpected little touches that lifted this stay out of the ordinary - I won't spoil them but let any future guests get the same little moment of delight on discovering them as I did.

Plus there is a very good choice of other foods for breakfast I'd give this establishment 10/10 and would definitely recommend it Closeness to the city centre, only 15 min walk Friendliness of the staff Great breakfast choice Quite location Comfortable bed

I liked the pre-ordering breakfast service and the specials. I had French toast, which was really good. We had a deluxe room (room 1) which came with complimentary sherry. That was really nice, we had a small glass one evening. The bathroom was amazing, great water pressure and size. Everything really clean. The lady at breakfast even remembered how we take out tea. Had homemade butter. Very close to the city centre, walking distance.

The room did get a bit hot one night, but that's all!

The location of the B&B is brilliant; you're only a 10-15 walk from most points of interest. The hosts are very welcoming and made sure that you had everything you needed. The room itself (room 1) was charming, clean, with a very comfy bed and a top notch shower. Everything in the room is restocked regularly and towels are replaced when you need them. The breakfast was delicious with a fantastic variety of food to cater for every diet. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying at Monkbridge House if you're visiting York.
