Great historic hotel close to Yosemite in an authentic small town. The room was super clean, the owner personally greeted us at check-in, the staff were a joy to meet and work with - we felt very welcome and comfortable here during our stay - we explored Yosemite by day and the Hotel Charlotte provided a wonderful base to start and end our days. The food was excellent in the hotel restaurant and the bar service was top tier! Overall a great atmosphere we really appreciated.

We stayed here because we didn't want to stay in a tourist trap with all the chain hotels/restaurants/souvenir shops/etc. We wanted the flavor of a vintage road trip with modern convenience. Please understand a historic hotel is a special place - one where guests are more connected, where the staff is warm and personal, and the environment says something about where you are and what people are like there. And yes, the rooms are smaller than many modern chain hotels, but it is well worth making the best of this in order to experience the laid back charm and fun at the Hotel Charlotte!

Fell in love with this place, mostly due to the always-charming host Finn. We arrived very tired after a long drive but Finn made us feel right at home. He provided us with awesome tips about Yosemite National Park and where to get good food. The hotel feels like an old saloon with the Tavern right in the front, with awesome drinks, delicious food, live music and cheerful people all around. If you prefer a little more quiet, there's the comfy beergarden out back. You can also hang out and meet people on the balcony. Everything is perfectly thought out. The free and absolutely delicious muffins and coffee in the morning are just the icing on the cake. Hotel Charlotte is the perfect place to get comfortable after a long hike in Yosemite.

What a nice little hotel. Yes it’s an older property and with that come some issues, but as long as you keep that in mind going in you’ll be satisfied with your stay. All of the staff we met were exceedingly friendly, thanking us for staying at every turn. And the food. We have some finicky and hard to please folks in our family but by the time our dinner was over all that were left were smiles and empty plates. We stayed in adjoining rooms 1 and 3, separated by a Jack n Jill bathroom in between and that worked great. Clawfoot tub with a shower that had good water pressure and heated well, refreshing after a day of hiking. There are individual faucets in each of the rooms. AC worked well and is relatively quiet. We stayed there to hike Hetch Hetchy and the location works well for that. Lots to eat nearby and good coffee shops in the area as well. Hit up Kevin and Randi’s if they’re open for some killer sandwiches. No charge amenities in the lobby for guests included a Keurig with both regular and decaf coffee, a tea station, full-size guest refrigerator, and some delicious muffins in the morning.

If you’re going to Yosemite Valley it may be a touch on the too far side, especially with 120 into the Valley currently closed.

Very welcoming and friendly staff and owners. My room was quite small but the bed was comfortable and the en-suite bathroom fine. I ate in the bar/dining room and found the food to be good value, good quality and ample! There is an interesting selection of beers to work your way through, but also wine and cocktails if you prefer. Decent complementary coffee is available 24/7 and muffins for breakfast too. The location is great if you are heading to Yosemite but it is worth leaving early. In all, I would have no hesitation choosing this hotel again.

Nothing that wouldn’t be nitpicking.

The staff were professional and friendly! They accommodated my friend who arrived early and gave clear notifications of everything including parking and access. The owner recommended homemade ice cream from the Mercantile and the restaurant. Highly recommend staying at this hotel. The rooms and beds were comfortable and clean. The tavern staff were busy but still gave us adequate attention and made sure we enjoyed dinner. The vegetables are so fresh and the sweet potato fries were perfect! My daughter loved the outdoor seating and the lobby where she got banana muffins and complimentary beverages. The chamomile tea was delicious and had the best aroma. my only regret was not being able to stay another night.

the doors were a bit difficult to maneuver but once you figure it out, it was ok. The only thing missing was lotion but not a big deal.

The staff were very nice at the reception desk and in the restaurant. The jack and jill rooms (1 & 3) were very charming as was the balcony upstairs where we ate, along with the saloon and reception area. The available refrigerator, microwave, and morning muffins were all much appreciated. The location provided easy access to the Hetch Hetchy area of Yosemite. We would stay here again and recommend it.

Comfortable, convenient place run by real people.

The booking through booking.com was a poor experience. Erroneous information. Such as: "you will not be charged until you check in" but I WAS charged. And the hotel has only some rooms that are pet friendly and charges $20/pet/night. Neither fact was made clear in the booking.com information, and when I wrote to say that I had pets with me the email does not seem to have reached the hotel. Second thing: the room was a bit small. The bed took up pretty much all of it, not leaving space for a work table for example.

Nicely maintained historic hotel with ambience. All the staff we interacted with were very nice. Finn, the owner, very personable and really wants your stay to be the best it can be. Food in the on-site tavern was very good. They have a beer garden newly installed in the back that was very popular. Free parking and no extra charges such as resort fees.

There’s nothing to complain about. You do have to like this type of historical hotel and corresponding decor. It’s definitely not modern.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was dated but just fine. A couple of nice stores and restaurants very close to hotel. Easy parking.

It would have been nice to have a place to park bikes overnight, as rooms on second floor made it difficult to get them in room. Some rooms very tight fit. It was nice of them to offer donuts in the morning, but they needed a bigger sign to tell the teenagers not to take more than one apiece as it meant there were none by the time we got there.

We loved this hotel. We were on a road trip and this place was a perfect stop off before Yosemite. Owner was fabulous! Full of local knowledge and advice. Staff were lovely. It’s an old building which adds to its charm. Gorgeous garden area. Complimentary hot drinks and muffins at breakfast were delicious. We wished we could have stayed longer here.
