I have stayed in MANY hotels in MANY cities in California and a large handful throughout the state; including Courtyards. The staff in Oakland were exceptional on every level. We were greeted with smiles every time we encountered an employee, engaged with "good morning", "good evening", and "welcome back" at every turn. The security guard was seen cleaning up debris from tables, and although the gentlemen at breakfast was working alone with a limited menu, he didn't say what he "couldn't do", but offered solutions with upbeat enthusiasm and a wonderful smile. The housekeeping staff was attentive, polite and kind. The valet were friendly, efficient and pleasant to interact with. I have been in the service industry for over 30 years and just wish to recognize an exceptional effort to create culture where employees truly and visibly enjoy coming to work every day. So...in short (brevity is not my strength haha)...THANK YOU ALL for a WONDERFUL and EXCEPTIONAL stay! Keep up the incredible work.

Conveniently located within walking distance to lots of restaurants. Room was comfy & clean. Common areas were clean and well kept. Given the area, I felt better having my car parked in a secured lot, and the valets were friendly and attentive.

Exterior signage too small & made property hard to find while navigating downtown traffic. Exterior seemed a little run down & lack of signage on doors made the building almost look vacant from street level. Would’ve liked to have had a microwave in the room. Furniture in room seemed ready to be replaced. Sofa was frayed at the seems. The room was hot, and I was not able to adjust the thermostat. Had to leave the window open to regulate the temp.

Although helpful, and friendly, the front desk staff was usually not at front desk when we arrived or when we went down for service. They'd appear after a minute or two, but we found that a little odd.

The breakfast sandwich, served with a small bowl of fresh fruit was a great start to my busy days. it was delicious! The staff, front desk, house keepers and bistro/cafe were all delightful, friendly and helpful.

The room was clean and comfortable. Everyone was very nice and professional.

We requested our room to be refreshed while we were out for the day, but when we returned it had not been cleaned or anything replaced. I was disappointed about not having clean towels and bed clothes.

The Courtyard Oakland Downtown was the perfect spot for our family's one night stay in Oakland. The location was convenient, the front desk staff was helpful, check in was quick, and the on-site parking ($30 extra) was easy. Comfy, clean, quiet rooms meant a good night's sleep for all four of us!

No free breakfast -- the large public space on the main floor looked like a free breakfast area, but was actually a small Starbucks.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The accommodations were clean, spacious and quiet. We were doing a trade show across the street at the Marriott City Center and much preferred staying at the Courtyard.

The restaurant/Cafe attached was too expensive. not flexible to orders and not open often.

the property itself was fine the staff wasn’t very helpful, not the nicest, and wasn’t communicative with valet.

The staff was very helpful and courteous, and the rooms was very spacious and bed was very comfortable.

I did not like how it wasn't complimentary breakfast, for the price we pay breakfast should be included.
