Spacious, clean room. Very quiet despite being right in the middle of the city. Having parking a big advantage, although expensive ($58 with tax), however you don’t really save if you park elsewhere, as it comes to $50 anyways (or more like $70 in other hotels) - but at least you don’t have to walk anywhere to get a car. Kind of mid range for Union square area. Check in and check out fast, lobby always has music, elevators too. Turndown service was nice, reminded of the cruise. Good blackout curtains, firm mattress. Ironing board was a little wobbly. They have umbrella in the room. Didn’t provide slippers, although bathrobe is there. Wish they had breakfast on the premises, but there are a few places walking distance. Close to cable car, but a decent walk to the piers, be prepped. Some creepy areas 6th and 7th street, but you can easily avoid going there.

Free tea and coffee on the top floor are a nice touch, however lots of times there was no hot water or coffee in the evenings. No breakfast on the property. The minibar stocked up, but not free (although price is $2 or $2.50 for most if the staff). Parking is expensive, but we agreed it was our best option. Game room has everything outdated, pool table is awfully cheap, and air hockey worn out, darts are broken.

Good location within easy walking distance of lots of attractions, particularly Union Square. There are a couple of great diners in very close vicinity for breakfast too (Pinecrest and Honey Honey). We found the staff very friendly and helpful and the room very comfortable- especially having a mini fridge and really reasonable mini bar. We had a morning paper delivery which was unexpected but appreciated. We particularly enjoyed the Club Donatello facilities- free coffee, a jacuzzi and a sauna which are open until 10 pm. We didn't eat in the restaurant but the bar was busy and had a good atmosphere.

Possibly better breakfast options- we chose to eat out as the offering didn't appeal to us

Quick checkin, lovely room and the club lounge was perfect for having a cup of tea. Good location one block from Union Square and two blocks up from the BART and the cable car turnaround. We took the BART from the airport to Powell Street and then it was about 5 - 7 min walk (with cases) to the hotel. Fortunately Post Street where the Club Donatello is located is before the hill so easily walked from the BART. Can recommend the 24 hour diner which is about 50 yards down Mason Street and the also The Cheesecake Factory on the upper floor of Macys in Union Square. The Cheesecake Factory has a fairly comprehensive menu not just cheesecake as the name may suggest everything from omelettes, burgers and salmon plus there is always cheesecake if you have room. Average price although the 24 hour diner is slightly less expensive.

Room was on the 11th floor on the corner of Post and Mason Street and the traffic noise was a bit of a disturbance and also on our second night there were roadworks during the night just down from the hotel. The windows are single glazed and I definitely think the hotel should invest in double glazing - it would help.

The hotel was in a great location just a couple of blocks from Union Square and central San Francisco with lots of restaurant options really close by. Our room was a great size, the bathroom was very modern and the slightly separate tea/coffee area was useful.

The water pressure wasn’t great in the shower, it felt as if this dropped off every time another room flushed the toilet or ran the tap.

The staff is outstanding: responsive, friendly, and helpful. The rooms are large and have a mini-fridge (which you can ask to be emptied so you can store your own things), a microwave and a coffee maker. Bathroom was spotless and well-stocked with towels. The bed was very comfortable and comes with plenty of pillows. We took advantage of the informal Club space on the top floor to grab some coffee and enjoy the views. A definite return trip is in order!

The room - our room was massive! Absolutely huge. Power Shower - awesome, not your normal weak water pressure. Bottled Water - was provided free of charge in the room, not always given at others. Parking - valet parking downstairs Location - amazing. 5min walk from Powel St BART & Union Sq is about 5min walk. Lots of bars, cafes & restaurants nearby also, & the Westfield Shopping centre is close. Bar & restaurant onsite, with room service. Pool & gym in the hotel. Staff - helpful & friendly Price - very reasonable price for a high standard room & location.

Can't fault it. We requested a high floor, which we got. There is some traffic noise through the night, but not the hotel's fault & it's a busy city! :)

The location was central. The room was nice, large and had comfy beds but all the mirrors were a little odd. The second room was right next door which was ideal. We had dinner which was very tasty along with a nice glass of wine.

I am not a fan of jazz, sorry, so would have preferred a different type of music. We also found the restaurant very expensive especially the house wine, $80 a bottle that we hadn't expected. We had to leave early the next day in the car but I doubt we would have walked from the hotel, maybe not the best place for us and our children.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a very nice bed. The Italian restaurant located in the 2nd floor provides good options for drinks and food. Service is very friendly. The hotel is centrally located with easy access to public transportation for business (bus and metro) or tourist (cable car). There are many options for breakfast and optional dinner around. As we had a evening flight out of San Francisco the hotel was accommodating to allow a late check-out at 1pm and the use of the club lounge after that.

Donatello is of that breed of hotel that still recalls old-fashioned hospitality and comfort: a room with some size and a proper couch and closet, real fixtures in the bathroom, an actual view. A club on the roof where you can relax and work! At a time when SF has not a whole lot to offer, the folks here are working overtime.

One minor caveat: the relatively small room inventory (it's primarily a timeshare) means options like early check-in can be tough if you're traveling for business.

The room was very big and spacious, bed was really comfortable and all was clean throughout. Nice little touch with the daily local paper through the door too. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The shower was awful, blows hot and cold constantly, one minute you’re freezing and another it’s warm. Needs sorting. Also, the room security deposit fee was a bit of a surprise as it wasn’t stated in the booking. More transparency on that is needed as we were lucky one of us had a credit card.
