This is a great hotel in terms of value for money. Luxury it isn’t, but if you want that, then you absolutely need to pay more. For the price, you won’t beat The Mosser. The location is superb. You have all the amenities of SF on your doorstep or accessible by the excellent public transport network. You can walk to the Alcatraz Departure Quay in 35 minutes. Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Union Sq are 5 minutes away. If you’re coming from the airport, the Bart train stops 2 minutes away at Powell St and costs ten dollars. The room was bigger than I expected. I had a great nights sleep every night for the 5 nights I stayed. The bed is comfortable and the shower nice and hot. They provide dressing robes and toiletries. The hotel puts on unlimited free coffee every morning between 6.30 and 9, and that saved me a few dollars. Reception is well staffed and staff are helpful.

The one lift does get very busy, but I never had to climb the stairs. I would have liked a safe in the room. Daily room service is not provided - you need to request if you want housekeeping or top up items, such as loo roll.

I stayed at The Mosser hotel for 9 nights. The location is well situated in downtown SF. It is perfectly situated for those who would like to explore the city center walking. The hotel is a good value for money. You pay a dorm price for a single room so you enjoy more privacy. Overall, my stay at The Mosser was a good one.

The hotel is very minimalist. You get very basic facilities and the age of the hotel can be felt. Corridor noise is clearly heard in the room. What I mainly disliked is that the bathroom components are spread on 3 different rooms. You get a sink at your room, independent shared toilets at each floor and a shared bathtub. Going to the toilet and showering takes a lot of planning.

The location was perfect. Just a stone's throw away from union square. There are a few bars and lounges located within a short distance, including the Harlequin, a bar and restaurant located in the same building, and The View, a high-end lounge located right across the street. The Westfield Mall is located on the same block, along with other business and grocery stores, such as Target and Trader Joe's. There's a park nearby, along with a museum. The bus stop and Powell train station is also very close. There was ample seating and a shared microwave in the lobby. We also had a good view of the street. There was a good amount of lighting in the room, along with a desk and chair, and a lounge seat.

Although the microwave was nice to have, we didn't have a fridge in our room, so our food kept spoiling. The beds were a little firm. We lucked out coming while the weather was in the mid-60s (F) in late July, but we still had to keep the fan running, since there was no AC in the room.

Arrangement of room was nice. Furniture and accessories included everything I needed. Natural light (daytime) was good. I loved having a separate chair and desktop for reading/working.

I wish there had been a brighter reading light over the bed and maybe two additional firmer pillows just to prop up in bed specifically for reading. Ceiling fan was low power--but most ceiling fans are. Placement of toiletries on shower wall was poor (hard to reach/use) while shower is on. The Mosser should invest in ONE streaming service (or Premium cable service) for guests, be it Netflix, hulu, HBO/Max or Amazon. If they did, they would stand apart from most other mid-range hotels. I also think an every two days cleaning should not be out of the question.

Room was centrally located to everything in town. Comfortable bed and TV. Bathrooms were clean.

No fridge or microwave. My son was charged a full days charge for checking in 3 hours early. He had just left the other hotel at 11 for checkout. Only took him a few minutes to walk to this one. He got there a little after noon. They charged him $100 for 3 hours. I told my son that if anyone wanted to do that again, just to say No and sit in the lobby for 3 hours. He stayed there for 2 weeks. You think they could have let him into the room. A little early.

For several years, we have stayed only at the Mosser when we visit San Francisco because the staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and the location is perfect for our needs. The beds are very comfortable. The double pane windows in the 8th floor room really helped cut down outside noise. On our latest visit in July 2023, they had added morning coffee and tea service.

The great location is a double-edged sword, as there are almost always construction projects, trash pickups, and street drumming/singing sessions that make bringing headphones a good idea. Our last room was one of the smallest ones we've stayed in, only one person could move at a time. The sinks are small and the glass shelf a foot or so above them make it hard to wash up.

Location was perfect as a base for all key attractions and for major shopping centres such as Westfield and Union Square. It was within just a short walk (2 minutes) of the main MUNI station with direct access to/from the airport and all metro, buses and trams. The iconic cable car termini are only a short (2 minutes) walk further away. Facilities were as represented and might be described as basic but functional and serviceable. No breakfast served though tea and coffee are available for free in a room off the foyer every morning. Additionally, both Target and Trader Joe’s are very close to the hotel. Room lacked air conditioning apart from a fan. At this time of year (April) this was not an issue. During a warmer summer, however … Generally, the sound-proofing was excellent and we were over the Main Street on floor 2. For the price, we were astonished at what we got. The staff were unfailingly charming and helpful.

Nothing. Absolutely excellent given the price compared to others in the area.

I’m surprised not more people rated this property higher when I read the reviews before staying. I think this is a solid 9 stay! workers were SO friendly made check in and out very easy and always helped with directions. it’s not a huge room but I didn’t expect it to be it’s a cheaper option for a place to rest and very comfortable! I had no issues at all, right next to the Powell Bart station and 45 minute walk to fisherman’s wharf!

it’s on the edge of a not great area from what I heard, while visiting there was a few drug addicts around during evenings but we had no issues, just wouldn’t be out late at night.

I have stayed at The Mosser a few times over the last 30 years, so I was happy to know that it was still operating. It is so convenient for Conferences at the Moscone and at the Marriot. The rooms are clean and I like the fact that they don't automatically do housekeeping every day - unless theI guests request it. It makes it more homely, and uncomplicated.

I wouldn't mind a kettle in the room to make tea/coffee in the room.

The hotel has the best position ever, at the beginning of 4th Street, right next to Market Street and very close to the Financial District and Union Square. The complimentary coffee they serve in the morning is really good. They provide plenty of towels and toiletries.

The building is not very recent, so all the walls are very thin and you can hear what people next door say and do, especially when they take a shower. Also, the carpet. I guess it has been there for quite some time now, because it looks old and outdated and not that clean either. It also smells funny in some spots.
